Newbies: -Free session offered through FB and Instagram. -Arrive fifteen minutes before class to complete waiver, receive class schedule/membership pricing, and class overview. -Wear long pants, socks with grips, and no midriff shirts. Studio Description: -Small waiting area/lobby with merchandise for sale. -Filtered water fountain. -Cubby area for belonging. -one Individual restroom -The studio has barres on both sides of the room and one side has mirrors. Class Info: -Accessories used: 2 lb dumbbells, a resistance band, and a rubber ball. Staff: -Nicole signed me in upon arriving and went over membership pricing and class schedule. She was friendly and answered questions I had. -Sara was the instructor and great in explaining the class structure and reviewing proper form. Throughout the class she corrected my form which I appreciated so that I didn't get injured. Overall impressions: I thought the class was going to be a breeze but I was mistaken. My arms and legs were shaking and my muscles were twitching. I had to take frequent breaks and I ended up losing the ball and band for most of the class. As Sara said maintaining the proper form was most important. Who knew all the small movements could work all your muscles. Although I enjoyed the class, I prefer a gym that offers more variety of cardio and strength training classes. I don't think this gym fits with what I am looking for, but I enjoyed the opportunity to try something new.

I have been attending classes at Body Rhythms Life Fitness for almost a year now and I cannot say…read moreenough good things about the business and the owners. I normally attend the Zumba classes on Monday/Wednesday evenings, but have also tried out Pound. They have a wide variety of classes (yoga, barre, etc). I prefer working in a group class setting so this place is perfect for me. I really enjoy the Zumba classes. It is just plain fun, but you also get a great work out. Their Zumba classes are structured as a "learn as you go". I was intimidated by this at first because I am used to Zumba classes that teach you eight count by eight count, but you can pick up on the steps pretty easily. There is a rhythm and pattern to them, plus the owners/instructors Melissa & Monica give hand signals as well. I really like that they add in new songs and routines often. They really stay relevant. Sometimes I'll hear a song and think "this just came out on the radio!" M&M are always encouraging and they inspire me to try to be better. I really don't have much rhythm at all, but it really doesn't matter and I like that. You don't feel embarrassed. There is a wide range of types of people (men and women, old and young, older adults and young adults) that attend the classes so you never feel awkward. Everyone is just there to have fun and because they love M&M so much. It's like a community at Body Rhythms. I would definitely recommend it to others.

This Merritt Clubs is another great location with a beautiful, big pool and a huge gym…read more The pool is where you will find me. During the summer, they have a full cocktail and food menu. They also have ice cream and refillable water at all times. They even offer towels. The workers are always kind and helpful. The pool area is always clean and welcoming. Everyone who attends and goes to Merritt Clubs is always fun and nice. It's always a great vibe, especially in the summer. When the concession is closed, you can enjoy tremendous food options in the area. There is tons of parking and is easily accessible.

I would not recommend Merritt Athletic Club based on my family's experience. What concerned me most…read morewas what I perceived as a lack of safety and accountability around the pool during summer camp. In our experience, children were not consistently supervised in a way that protected other paying members, and we felt that the camps were prioritized over the regular membership. When we raised safety concerns after an incident involving an unsupervised child, we felt that responsibility was shifted onto us rather than the situation being addressed. We also observed lifeguards allowing behavior that, in our opinion, created unnecessary safety risks for other swimmers. My interactions with management were equally disappointing. Diane, the manager, spoke to me in a manner I found unprofessional during our discussion, and I recorded that interaction because I was so uncomfortable. When I later decided to cancel my membership, I expected to simply complete the cancellation paperwork. Instead, I was questioned by Liz in front of other people about why I was leaving and where I planned to go next, which I felt was inappropriate and embarrassing. The final comment that confirmed my decision to leave was being told that these issues would improve once school started because the summer camps would be over. That reinforced my impression that the camp program was being prioritized over the experience and safety concerns of year-round members. Since leaving, I've found another gym where I feel welcomed, respected, and where member concerns are taken seriously. I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision.
