I have followed Steadfast Tattoo in Riverside, CA for well over a year and they just continue to amaze me at the quality of the work they turn out. I'm looking to relocate and revamp my physical appearance with some additional piercing and some tattoos. I will not trust my skin to just anyone. So out of the number of shops I've looked at and talked to in California Steadfast is who's hands I'm putting my body in. All the artists are good but BattsyeTattoo & GbizTattoo are heafs and shoulders above the rest. I am a huge fan of tattooing and can tell the proper technique vs mistakes the attached photo I would have considered a tattoo of the day if he were competing on the show Ink Master. I feel any tattoo artist would benefit greatly just from being in the shop with these amazing artists. They definitely could learn alot from these talented individuals who all have there own style and gifts. I can't wait to make an appointment with Battsye at the recommendation of the owner after I told him I am a "tattoo vigin" ie this will be my 1st tattoo so that's why I've done ALOT of research. I saw this place on a friend's Instagram and decided to give it a try. I have gotten 4 face piercings here, and it has been a wonderful experience each time. On my last two visits I got my nostril done by @javierneedlezvargas and my verticle labret by @thepiercedtai. Both of them did a wonderful job. They marked out the placement, and checked to see if I was happy with the placement before getting the actual piercing. I really appreciated this. The process was simple and fast and they were incredibly polite. Today was my birthday and Tai made my day by not only giving me a wonderful piercing but being super polite and welcoming. They even wished me a happy birthday afterwards. Both piercers gave me all the information I needed and answered any questions I had. This our second time coming to steadfast and both times were great! The first time I got a tattoo by gbiz, he's an amazing artist & I love my tattoo. He took his time to make sure everything looked perfect and he said I could come in for a touch up when and if needed. I will definitely be getting more work in the future from him! Second time my fiancé got tattooed by Jax for the Friday the 13th. The tattoos are small because of the deal but they look so clean and sharp. My fiancé loves them. Great Service! Got my Daith pierced by Tai, who made the experience quick and easygoing. Love how Tai is honest, upfront, and informing about what is or isn't possible for you to get pierced or re pierced. The other day my Daith ring came out by accident after a month of healing and I couldn't get it back in myself. Tai was easy to contact for advice on my situation, along with having the service available to go in person. Thankfully Tai was still able to place it back in before it was too late. Extremely accommodating and diminishes any nervousness you may have. They were precise and always made sure to narrate every step of the way. 10/10 would let Tai the piercer stab me again. Great explanation of wound aftercare, made me feel comfortable asking any and all questions and never made me feel like it was a dumb question. Eddy pierced my ears with dirty hands, specifically his fingernails did not look clean in any way shape or form. While piercing my double helix, he did drop the second earring and said "Oh shit!" & proceeded to pick it up and still pierce my ear with it. Worst $50 I ever spent. I had to go to Trusted Tattoo and get my earrings replaced bc my ear swallowed the jewelry Eddy used on me bc the size was wrong for a freshly pierced helix. Do BETTER!!!

So we decided to come here because of all the great reviews that we saw on Yelp. Marcos came bright and early for the four of us and spent almost close to an hour on each person. He helped give us insight on placement of our tattoos and let us know where it would hurt the most. He's very professional and takes a great deal of care when prepping for each of us. He praised the artwork, even called over another artist to admire it, and quoted me $800. I explained that I had hired a previous artist who had butchered my vision by swapping my original work with generic clip art, and I wanted someone who would honor what I had drawn. He seemed very excited to do the work, and said he loved my design. Steven assured me he would do it right. He promised to provide finished digital lineart two weeks before the appointment so I'd have time for revisions if needed. I booked two months in advance and paid a $100 deposit. Two weeks out--no lineart, so I messaged him to ask for it. One week out--he sent a tiny, half-assed sketch made of--you guessed it--more fn clip art! I waited. Another small fragment came in several days later. Sloppy, generic, and clearly nothing like my design. My original drawings, including two of my pets, were reduced to cookie-cutter garbage. I was losing sleep over the stress. I really wanted this piece to be done correctly. Still, I tried to trust him. His portfolio on Instagram was gorgeous, so I wanted to believe in him. The day before the appointment--still no full lineart. I asked to reschedule when he had time to do as he had promised: provide lineart I could approve of or request changes to before the appointment. He gaslit me and insisted that his other clients trusted him. I explained my concern and said I wasn't comfortable getting inked without seeing a complete draft, especially after my previous experience. Which he KNEW. He told me to come in anyway. He said I could at least try on a stencil. When I arrived, he was scrambling to slap something together on his iPad at the last moment. Not the whole thing, again, just one element of it. What he printed wasn't even close to my design. He took an elegant, feminine design and turned it into a back alley biker tattoo. It was thick, coarse, and ugly. When I politely told him this wasn't even close what I wanted, he said, "I'm not the artist for you," and then refused to refund my deposit. He immediately blocked me on Instagram and updated his bio to say deposits are non-refundable. Let's be clear: I didn't flake on the appointment--he did. He had two months to deliver on his promise. He lied, stalled, copied cheap clip art, and gaslit me to guilt me into coming in, wasting my time as I had to clear the entire day for nothing. He took my money, but did no real work. It felt like it might be his MO: take your deposit, string you along, ignore your design, and his own promises, and deliver garbage he knows you'll reject so he can pocket your money without lifting a finger. My husband said it seemed like a scam, and I agree. Steven Gonzalez is not a professional--he's a liar, and a thief. I now have serious doubts as to whether any of the art on his Instagram is even his. If he'll steal money, he'll steal credit too. Avoid this shop at all costs. Don't trust Steven with your time, your money, or your skin. Big mistake. Enjoy your $100 review, Steven!
