I found TX5J Handyman ("Daniel & Crew") on Yelp and contacted them. Danel came over, did a detailed FREE inspection and gave me a competitive quote in 24 hours. I then decided to hire them for the job. They came in at 7:30 A.M. in the morning to beat the summer heat. It requires piping and extension exhaust vent directly to outside top siding. Here are the projects that we have used him for: 1. Installation of a Gladiator Garage storage shelf space - he placed it perfectly in the area that we wanted. It was well secured and has provided an extra storage space in our small garage. He checked in with us each step of the installation to make sure that we were satisfied with all aspects of the job. 2. Leak repair with mold remediation, insulation and drywall/baseboard repair in our dining room - he located the leak, cleaned out the area between the studs (including sealing an opening to the outside wall, which we didn't know about), treated for some mold that was present and then reinstalled the insulation, finished the drywall and painted the area. This included removing the baseboards and reinstalling/matching them, re-applied the orange peel texture and then painting to a perfect finish. You would never have known there was a leak there. He even replaced the outdoor spigot that was on the other side of the leaking pipe! 3. Roof truss repair in the garage - Jaime noticed when he was installing the garage storage shelf that the joints of a few of the roof trusses had separated when he was surveying the beams in the attic space. He showed us the issue and we asked him if that was something he could repair as well...he said absolutely. After getting the truss connector parts, he went up....pulled the joints together and repaired them....this is one of those hidden issues that can be catastrophic if left unresolved. Unfortunately, we are not happy with the outcome of the wall texture patch. The texture is not close to what the texture is supposed to be, and it is very clear that you can see the patch. I added the drawer request literally the day before installation - $150 upcharge, which was fair for a last-minute addition. The build is solid. Bolstered into the studs for extra support since it's going to hold an LG WM6700HBA washer and DLHC5502B heat pump dryer. Clean lines, sturdy construction, fits the space exactly like it should. Two cubby openings sized for laundry baskets underneath, plus that soft-close drawer for detergent and supplies. He matched the gray paint to coordinate with the incoming Black Steel appliances. Pricing was competitive with other quotes I got, but the turnaround and flexibility set him apart. If you need custom carpentry work done right and done fast, Gerardo's your guy.
