Steak n Shake has a special place in my heart as it is the first place that I had lunch with my sweetheart. (Not our official first date...he did take me somewhere A LOT nicer). I don't currently live near a Stesk N Shake but visiting my son who does live near one. We were out and about hopeful for a nice affordable meal with good quality. We ordered our food through a kiosk and it was ready within 10-15 minutes of ordering. I ordered their $7.00 meal of grilled onions burger and fries, the drink does not come with the meal. My boys ordered garlic burger combo and a plain burger combination. The fries here are always great, lightly salted, hot and fresh tasting. What was disappointing about my burger was that the bottom bun was soaked in burger juices. I couldn't eat it, I just ate it without the bun. Wow, I hadn't been to Steak n Shake since before Covid. They seem to have made some changes and for the better. I ordered the $4 double steak burger and shake meal. One of the best burgers I've ever had here. I remember in the past that this location was SLOW... but on my visit the drive thru was fast and the food was hot and fresh. Love that they had free fries. I was a little disappointed with the Jr shake that they are giving with this offer. Is the food good? Yes. Is the store filthy? Yes!!!!! As a family with 2 small boys, we haven't eaten inside in several years. We ventured out this last time and decided to eat inside. The inside was filthy and the high chairs looked like they were caked in some foreign substance and hadn't been cleaned since the day they bought them. One of the employees was wearing a shirt that was 2 sizes too small and he was leaning over the counter letting the entire restaurant see his crack. This is one of the dirtiest restaurants that I have even been in. There was trash all over the floor. Multiple tables were sitting filthy. I guess you could say that the reviews are 100% accurate here. Pulled up to get a $4 triple steak burger (#10) that I get all the time from the one in Pickerington. Super simple. I give me order to the voice box and the lady says hold on. Waited about 3 more minutes and a man comes on and asks if my order was taken. I said no and gave him my order. Said no pickles, add onion, ketchup, and mustard. He asked for cheese and I said no. Waited in the car line, went to the window to pay and he said $4.99 - I said no and that couldn't be my order. He said a number ten with cheese and I said no - you asked me if I wanted cheese and I said no. I suppose it was the manager who came to the window and asked me if I wanted cheese and I said no. She was flustered, obviously didn't believe me and said for me to pull up to complete my order. Order came out five minutes later and it was completely wrong. No cheese, pickles, onion, ketchup. Wow, what happened? This used to be a decent location, but my last visit was no good. It was so dirty! Trash and litter all over the outside of the restaurant and entrance area. Teenagers loitering in the parking lot, cops present, eying the teens suspiciously. Against our better judgment, we still went in, as it was after 11pm and sit-down restaurant pickings were slim. We arrived just in time for the shift change, which left one poor waiter with a full restaurant and a line out the door. We waited a good long while to be seated, but decided to leave after noticing that almost everyone was still waiting on food and/or drinks. The last 4 times I have attempted to go to this location (no later than 10pm) they have had signs taped to the doors saying they are closed "due to circumstances" not even unforseen, just circumstances. This place used to be wonderful but now it is just disgusting and the service is absolutely terrible! Over 6 tables in the dining room needed to be bussed before we were seated. That should have been my sign to leave immediate because the diner was only moderately busy at 8PM. The booth dividers were hazed in filth. I demanded that our family were sat at a table. My husband ordered a steak frank but received a double cheeseburger instead. All four of us ordered friends that were received cold and stale with little salt. After our entrees were consumed, the waitress offered to refill our waters without remember to serve the milkshakes that we had ordered with dinner. I wish I had just told her to remove them from my bill but I reminded her that we had not received our milkshakes . The milkshakes were not made correctly either; mine had the texture and taste as though it was made with freezer burnt vanilla ice cream. Stand by the Wait to be Seated sign, while the disheveled servers congregate behind the drink stand. Eventually someone puts their cell phone back in their pocket and greets you with "Two?". While they decide what table is the cleanest to sit you at, you gaze upon the debris on the floor, and an eclectic mix of patrons. Your menu will be a bit dirty, or sticky. Your plastic glass has a decent chance of being chipped, or questionably clean. Same with the silverware. (Why again do I come here?) Oh yeah breakfast for 2 was $12. The food... Never looks or tastes like the pictures. Just like Mark stated, we are yet to get our meals correct on the first try. It really is the simple things they miss, on straight off the menu items. Signature toppings. Syrup with the pancakes. And so on. The servers haven't yet learned to pre-buss tables, let alone leave their mistake sitting on your table while they go get the correction. Here is a place you will never have to wait for the check. Most times they actually lay it down BEFORE your food. It is what it is. You get what you pay for. All the other cliches. I'll return. How have I not reviewed this? Sweetie and I used to go here a lot- like, every week or two. It is open late, and when we worked the same hours it was handy on the way home. Now it's a once-in-a-while, no-other-options stop. It's Steak and Shake, so there aren't many surprises. It's cheap, average food, busy during the day and open to all kinds of weirdness at night. The burgers are meh, and since those are their specialty you have to wonder... I usually get something else, like chicken fingers or chili, and I've never had anything awful but also never had anything I can't wait to have again. Sweetie likes the cheese fries, and their fries are thin and crispy. Service at this location is, to be charitable, disorganized. I don't know if they're all kids, or management doesn't care, or what, but things are slowwww. And I have never gotten a completely accurate order. Last night I got cheese fries and a burger, and there was no cheese. For the cheese fries. Hmm. Since I was there (to satisfy a certain late-night craving,) I also got something for myself. The sriracha burger seemed like a winner- feel the burn- but when I bit in, there was no burn. I lifted the bun and saw a few jalapenos and a couple of small squirts of sriracha. I guess I expected, I don't know, flavor? A lot of sriracha? What I got was a bland, overcooked burger. Oh, well. I'll probably be back- there aren't many 24-hour places around here. by far the WORST Steak 'n Shake there is in Columbus. the workers are rude and don't care much about their jobs at all either. they're always closed before the time listed online and will also block off their drive thru before closing time so they can leave earlier. on multiple occasions I've waited over 20 minutes for a milkshake and they'll pretend they didn't see it in the system each time. We had to try it just because it was new to us. I must say we can definitely find better food and services elsewhere We waited for our food for an hour if not a little longer, I stopped checking the time after 45 mins. They said they were extremely busy, I think they forgot. 2 burgers and 2 shakes cant take longer than an order for a party of 6?! Yet the party of 6 got their burgers, fries, drinks, shakes well before we even got our shakes. The party of 6 arrived after us, ate and left before we got our food.
