I had the hankering for wings. As always, open up Yelp and look for suggestions. Urban Gourmet pops up only 1.5 miles away. Located in the East Market, there are lots of food choices. Wanting wings, I ordered the Garlic Parmesan and tots. They offer grilled or fried and I thought I ordered fried but these tasted more like grilled. I was wanting that fried crunch but got more of a well cooked bite with a creamy garlic white sauce, then sprinkled with Parmesan. It was still good but when you're expecting crunch, it's slightly disappointing. Still a good wing but I wouldn't put it in the top 5. The tots, now they made up for the crunch. The Blue Cheese was exactly what I like, sweeter with a little funk. Maybe I should've specified fried. Wings are an indulgence to me. I don't want the healthy version. I want that crunchy-Lipitor sponsored-defibrillator on stand by-I can see my blood flowing-We'll start the diet Monday goodness that only a perfectly fried wing can offer. Still good tho. read more

I originally ordered food from another spot in East Market, but recalled seeing a TikTok about the chicken Parmesan at Urban Gourmet, so I had to give it a try. No exaggeration, this was one of the best chicken Parmesans I've ever had, and that includes versions from legit Italian restaurants. The chicken cutlet was super crispy and perfectly seasoned, with a coating that was flavorful and satisfying without being too heavy. The portion size was just right, not too big, not too small. I appreciated that the mozzarella on top was fresh and sliced, not the usual shredded kind. The sauces (yes, plural!) were rich and full of flavor, tying everything together beautifully. The only thing I think it was missing? Some garlic bread of some sort to go with it. That would've made it perfect. But honestly, it was still a fantastic dish on its own. Wanted something quick and handy, and the food halls sometimes are a good way to get that. Lots of options, not too busy at least at off times, spread out across the city nowadays. I've had several different items at other vendors here, and decided to try something new. They have a nice menu of burgers, wings, salads, etc. I went with their signature burger, the Urban burger. Plus some tots because I've had some good ones in town lately. The burger was good. Not great. I mean, it's a pretty good burger. The meat itself was hearty, the bun was good, the toppings were good, although I didn't notice any of the truffle mayo. Sautéed onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese. Combined into a pretty good burger. But I have had better in town, and bigger, and for the size and quality it was not a $14 burger. The tots on the other hand were in massive quantities. Enough to share with two or three people. They also were good, not great. I have had some stellar ones around here lately, and these were darn good, but not amazing. Service was friendly, food took about 15 minutes, and there's a nice seating area there. Parking, and wandering the aisles inside, were a little slow at 1 PM on a weekday but not awful. This is a spot you can not go wrong with. We never heard of this building before, and once we went in and looked around, we thought we'd try this place out. Came here for lunch ima. Drizzly afternoon. We each order a burger. It did take a little bit of time 15-20 minutes for the food to be ready but it was well worth it. The Urban Gourmet might just be the best food spot in Columbus. At most places, I have a regular order that I get every time I go there. Not here. Literally everything on the menu is a home run. Of course they offer the best burgers and wings in the city, but they also have some of the best pasta dishes in town at amazing prices. The Salmon Salad is out of this world. I got the cheesesteak with American cheese instead of Swiss and it was pretty good. I'd say two things that made it not great to me. I think the pickled items (jalapeño and banana peppers) overwhelmed the steak so I would eliminate the banana peppers next time. I also felt like the steak wasn't seasoned, it really needed some salt and the bread was toasted which was mostly great but a couple of spots were a bit burnt. Service was fast and friendly and they made it right to order. The fries were just normal fries but they were excellent. We were out on a bike ride and decided to stop into the East Market to refill our water bottles. Upon entering we noticed that the menu for the restaurant was scrolling on two large monitors over the bar. What drew our attention were the prices. NO WAY could ANYONE expect a quality burger and fries for $13! Add to that were the wings... right around $13 also. Surely wings at that price would be miniscule and/or bony. Surely a cheeseburger at that price would be tiny, dry and generic. We were very very wrong. Urban Gourmet served up one of the best meals we have had this year. The fresh burger was cooked to perfection and the hand cut fries were crispy outside, yet creamy inside. I had opted for wings and it was a great decision. While there are numerous dry rub and sauces to choose from, I chose a dry jerk coating on half my order (5 wings) and a unique wet sauce named "slap your mama". Visually the sauce LOOKED like a mustard based sauce but I detected NO MUSTARD at all. The best way to describe it is a cross between a BBQ sauce and a mild ranch dressing. Whatever it is... IT IS GOOD!!! Urban Gourmet is a true gem and the star of the East Market. You can certainly pay more for great burgers and wings but why would you? A newer restaurant at the East Market in the trolly district. I frequent this particular market in the regular and happened to observe this new restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The establishment doesn't give off your traditionall sandwich or burger vibe. The layout is somewhat sterile but it has a certain je ne sais quoi. Service was pretty good, quick and friendly and I have no complaints. Everyone behind the counter were extremely and helpful. For my meal, I will be honest and tell you I did a little too much but it was definitely worth the extra calories. I had a burger, Philly cheese steak sandwich, fries and tator tots. I was not a fan of the fries so I'll give those 4/10. The flavor was not hitting and mine at least were a little over done. The tator tots were pretty good. The were seasoned well, crispy/crunchy, and done on the inside. 8/10 The burger. Listen that burger was thee best burger tgat I've had to Date. I sat at the table upstairs with some friends and when they looked over at and saw my eyes closed with a slight moan, they said the burger must be good. It had that flame broiled taste that not many have been able to master and seasoned to perfection. I still dream about this burger 10/10 The wings... Whew. I got the mild and garlic parmesan. I was more partial to the mild wings, but both were good. A slight crispiness and done. I was licking my fingers afterwards. 8.5/10 The Philly cheesesteak was pretty awesome.
