I've had this place bookmarked for a while but never found ourselves in downtown cbus until today. We saw a matinee show at the Ohio Theatre (highly recommend) and then walked over to Pat & Gracie's for a late lunch. Arrived approximately 3:30pm - restaurant basically empty (maybe 5 tables total occupied). Went to check in for 2 and the host said he had reservations at 5. Huh? So I asked do you mean you can't seat us until 5? And he said no, that we need to leave by then because other people are coming. I thought that was very weird and unprofessional. I've never had an experience like that before. It's a basic sit down place, why would you think we'd linger for more than an hour and a half? Whatever, weird feeling, but we were seated. Seated in the walkway. Not like in a path but literally blocking the walkway where you step down. Why do I say this? Because people walking by kept banging into me. Not their fault. Why is there a table there? And why were we seated there when at least 80% of the restaurant was empty???? Ok whatever. Ordered food including their signature made in-house tots. Waitress comes back and says they were slammed in the morning and they're out of tots. (Man I feel bad for the people coming at 5. LOL) whatever except the people at the next table appeared to be served tots. Food was tasteless. The Mac and cheese had a weird texture like the roux wasn't cooked properly. My patty melt was mostly bread as the patty was too small for the bread. My husband had the signature chimi burger and it completely lacked any chimichurri flavor. Like at all. We were out by 4ish (plenty of time for them to prepare for their expected onslaught) and needless to say I've unbookmarked this place from my yelp. Finally tried the new location on High Street. I will start with the service. I love being greeted immediately when I come into an establishment and they deliver. I was able to pick my seating because it wasn't too crowded. And my waiter whom I forgot his name earned his tip. As far as my meal I went with a cheeseburger with bacon and fries. The fries were cold but the waiter corrected that quickly. As far as my burger it was juicy and well prepared, not overcooked nor undercooked. The bacon was excellent as well. I will definitely try them again and picking something different off the menu there are a lot of different options something for everyone read more

The only reason I didn't give this a lower rating is because the staff handled the issues well but overall I'm so let down by P&G because I had never had a bad meal (at the Graceland location at least) before & almost everything was a let down in this visit. The bad: We ordered a side of fries to nibble on with our drinks & the whitest, most unseasoned (not even salted) potato sticks came out to the table. Meanwhile I'm trying to convince my friend (who had never been to P&G before) that I've never had them that bad before & to not worry because I'm sure the rest would come out better. We did not complain to the server about this. I got the Flame Broiled Salmon Dinner & my friend got the Spicy Burger w/ broccoli instead of the fries. Every single item in my dish had something wrong with it. The salmon was barely cooked...like just enough to make the grill lines & change the color of the very outside layer. Now, let me make it clear that I actually enjoy a medium/medium well temp salmon if it has a hard sear on the outside. That was not this. The mashed potatoes weren't anything special, not very creamy but the issue was that they came out cold. Not even remotely close to warm even. As if they had been sitting out at room temperature for hours. The broccoli was so terrible that neither my friend nor I ate ours. Somehow it was raw inside but rubbery on the outside. Like it had been flash-boiled or something. When I say boiled I mean that. I often steam mine at home because I like it al dente & this is not how it comes out. There was no seasoning, butter, nothing on it. We couldn't even cut it with our butter knives. The service itself was a bit lackluster, but not the worse. We waited a bit for our server to come over but he acknowledged this & apologized and we were totally fine with it. It was just hard to get a hold of him throughout the dinner so that's why I had to go complain to the bartender about my entree instead of our server. For $26 I had to say something. The payment method is weird. We hate when places bring the machine to you to pay while they stand there instead of just bringing you a check first. You feel rushed, don't get to see if it's correct, etc. The Good: The atmosphere is cute. I like the details & decorations. The bar area has a dark, sexy feel without needing to get your flashlight out lol. The bathrooms were spacious & clean. The seasonal Maple Sidecar cocktail was yummy & I liked the garnish accents. Everything, including the drinks came out in a timely fashion. My friend's burger was juicy & well cooked (if not a bit under). The bartender handled the situation well when I complained about my dish. I asked if they could just microwave the whole thing because we were going to the theater & didn't have time to order something different. He said he would do that but that I shouldn't be having to eat microwaved salmon so that they would also be comping the dish. I agree with him but I couldn't go to the theater on an empty stomach so I nibbled on what tasted ok when it came out. Handling this the way he did is the only reason that the review wasn't a fail. Overall, I don't think I'll ever return to this location. There's clearly an issue with the kitchen staff &/or training of it. However, I will continue to visit the Clintonville location & maybe only stick to burgers from now on. Needless to say, with this experience being her first, my friend will most likely never try them out again. read more

Great for finding some food before attending a show at one of the nearby theaters. The menu is what I would best describe as comfort, food. First, I want to stress that this place was seriously understaffed on the Sunday afternoon that we went for lunch. The one server who was there was so attentive and friendly (as best he could be; thank you Jay), as was the other person who was doing the duties of bartender, host, and sometimes server. The place was not exactly empty because there was a 2 o'clock matinee at the Ohio Theatre, so people were grabbing lunch before the show (this is also one of the restaurants that CAPA recommends show goers check out). Our server told us apologetically that all of the other servers called out; because of that, wait times for food and service were pretty long, which is nerve-racking when you are waiting to get to a show. Again, I want to stress this is not our servers's fault, but it did make me wonder about overall management. The inside of the restaurant is pleasant enough the food was pretty basic (burgers, sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, a lot of fried bar / diner food), but it was made well, especially considering the staff issues. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was a little spicy (in good way) due to the Sriracha based sauce, and it also had a tasty avocado and onion topping. Fries seemed a little undercooked, and mozzarella sticks were huge portions, but a little lukewarm (I think they had to sit and wait for our server to get a chance to bring them to our table. ) This was all fine because there's not a lot of options downtown, though I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. A nice place to stop by before an evening show at one of the nearby theaters. Good location, selection and seating options. But to me, everything was overpriced by a dollar or two. I work right down the street from this gem. I love hitting P&G for lunch, and find myself getting those delicious mozzarella sticks for lunch at least once a month (iykyk). The salads are phenomenal, the service is excellent, and I highly recommend for a speedy lunch or a nice date before a show, it's business lunch friendly but romantic at night. read more

First of all, on a beautiful early spring evening, what a treat to sit outside! I enjoyed a lovely cocktail and the biggest mozzarella sticks I've ever seen! And they were delicious. If I was smart I would have stopped with that and a small salad but instead I ordered the portabello mushroom sandwich. The roasted red peppers added a nice balance to the mushroom and cheese. I had a side salad with garlic parm dressing. The salad was generous and the dressing was not too garlicky, maybe could have had some cracked pepper with it. Service was polite, prompt, and helpful. I seriously love this place. They always have a great beer selection that updates regularly as well as great cocktails. I adore their pimento cheese melt which I ordered on this visit. Cooked perfectly, delicious flavors and good food all around. A must visit especially when you're downtown for a show or an event at Columbus Commons. read more

Well, we walked in and waited 15 minutes before ANYONE said anything to us and we were giving them grace because they were obviously understaffed. So we waited 15 minutes and then got sat, every single table was dirty and covered in dirty dishes - once we were sat our order was taken fast but it was so bad. We ordered the loaded tots with a side of ranch and they came out cold and so bland like the salt on the table couldn't even save it. They forgot to make it loaded so we just had bland tots. We ate those because we were starving and we waited for 30 minutes for someone to come back to our table and refill our waters OR take our food order but no one ever showed up. At this point the servers had time to stand around and chat but not to refill waters or clean tables. We decided to ask for the bill but no one ever came around so we left exact change of the menu price and walked out. very disappointed because if the service or food even tried to be good we would've stayed. read more

Second visit ever this week with my wife and a friend on her way back to Seattle. Parking is a premium in the area. We lucked out getting a spot right in front! We pursued the menu and an ordered a Columbus Brewing IPA and Ginger Ales for the girls. We started with Buckeye Pretzel Bites as an appetizer. I ordered the Chicken Wing Sandwich, my wife a bowl of the Chicken Noodle Soup, and our friend the Chicken Quesadilla lunch special. The pretzel bites were not bad, but nothing special. My Chicken Wing Sandwich was superbly delicious! I highly recommend it! The Chicken Quesadilla had high praise as well. On the other hand, the Chicken Noodle Soup was pedestrian at best with two pieces of chicken and mostly salt for seasoning . We did get the Lazarus Cheesecake to close out our meal...absolutely delicious. We'll stop again when in the neighborhood! read more

Stopped by Pat and Gracie's while in town for a concert. Casual feel with cool decor! Vintage classy feel. The menu is on the smaller side but adequate selection. We started with mozzarella sticks - delish! And more like mozzarella logs - huge lol. Marinara left a bit to be desired but good mozz stick. Three of our party got the chimi burger and one the patty melt. All thumbs up - every burger was delicious. Fries were ok - nothing to write home about but not bad either. The Mac n cheese was better than most when available as a side. Service was fine. One downside - I ordered a beer and made a comment about looking forward to something they had being a cold draft. Only then did the server say "oh it might be warm bc it's been broken for a while." I suggested she really shouldn't have given me a draft menu if they are serving warm beer. Gross! My burger came out incorrectly (to his credit, the waiter gave us a nice discount) but it took a long time to arrive so that it was well behind the other food. When it did come, there was no bacon and the bun was dry, old and crumbly. In general, very sub par food. Go to Five Guys and save yourself $60. read more

We put in an appetizer for the table we got the House-made Tator Tots with homemade garlic aioli. Which was phenomenal. And then the table got different burgers. I got the double cheeseburger which was very filling and very good. The fries were just okay, I should have asked for some better fries. They seemed liked they had been sitting out a long time and they just were trying to get rid of them. But overall the burger was pretty good. I would recommend to anyone their hamburgers . I wouldn't get the French Fries again. I would try a different side or just get the sandwich. Our waiter was really nice and friendly. Overall for a lunch it was pretty good. I am usually not one to complain about service or food in restaurants, I have worked in restaurants before and I know how difficult of a job it can be, but my experience here was so terrible I felt compelled to share. This was my second time at Pat and Gracie's, my previous experience I almost missed my show because of the slow service. We informed them we had a show to attend to, but it took forever to get our bill. I have never written a negative review before on any restaurant or product, but I wanted to share my experience in hopes that Pat and Gracie's would get their act together or to save future patrons the headache. I made reservations at Pat and Gracie's days before seeing a show at the theater. We got our confirmation texts and everything was set. The four of us entered the restaurant that was half full and was told we had to sit at the bar because their system does not inform them when they have reserved all available tables. We asked if we could be seated at one of the MANY empty tables, they told us no. We were then greeted by who I assumed was the manager, who stated he was concerned about our arrival all day because we were seated at the bar. He continued to blame this on their computer system and said there was nothing they could do about it. Sitting shoulder to shoulder at the bar, we ordered our drinks. It was difficult to talk to each other sitting at the bar. We are four moms who were in desperate need of a night out and we couldn't even look at each other. We decideded this was not the sort of dinner we wanted to have on our night out. We told the bartender we were leaving and offered to pay for the drinks, she said it was fine and we left. Since it was a show night (Hamilton!) we had a hard time finding a restaurant that wasn't booked. Thankfully we were able to eat at Condado Tacos across the street and had a lovely night there. 1. Fix your system to notify you when you are over booked. 2. If you saw that we were seated at the bar and were concerned we would be upset, give us a call and notify us. 3. The restaurant was half empty when we arrived. Seat the customers who arrive on time or early like we did at a normal table, save the bar for those who arrive late. Or you may even have a no show and avoid this whole situation. read more

I went to the new Pat and Gracies Downtown Columbus and had BYO (Build Your Own) Burger with Bacon, Cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce, honey mustard and BBQ sauce. It did not disappoint like the Graceland location because it was delicious with fries. I tried Fried Pickles and normally I don't have them but tried it and it was great. I will have to go there for weekend brunch. I got great service from nice server and she was very sweet who took great care of me and other people at my table. They did an excellent job turning it from a Burgerim in what it is with the second Pat and Gracies in Downtown Columbus and the ambiance was black, but great. Like I said, I will be going back for weekend brunch especially for the Cinnamon Rolls and Chicken & Waffles. read more

This place is three months opened. Very chick and nice decor and set up. The menu is put together well. They have a lot of specialty drinks. Ordered the hot wings and hot sauce. Little too spicy for my taste but they were probably the best wings I've had in the downtown area. The menu is reasonably priced I will definitely return back. They have happy hour every day MON-FRI 4 to 6 with 2-3 dollars off on beer and liquor and I have price appetizers. Monday is all day long happy hour. The bartender was very well experienced and did a great job. However, her ticket machine when she was super busy, kept printing, her own bar drinks to the service counter, and that was taking a lot of time for her to sort out or mistakenly make drinks so they need to stop her terminal from printing to the service station printer on drinks. read more

5 Stars here all the way. It was a busy Saturday night so we lucked into a seat at the bar. The service from the friendly bartenders was right on point. We started with the "Tots" appetizer. Calling them Tots is really a disservice as these are so much better! For our meal we each ordered the Patty Melt Burger as it sounded so unique. They did not disappoint! Rude! Rude! Rude! The lady w the neck tattoo behind the bar was rude to me unnecessarily. I went yesterday for a take out order of fries bc I work in the area. She called me girlfriend which I hate and was too busy to take my order bc she was prepping drinks for a photoshoot. About 8 staffers stood around tasting the foods and drinks. About 15 minutes later I got my order but the fries were burnt and wo season. Unwisely I went back today bc I historically enjoy a breakfast burger and decided since I could build one that I would. It was packed. Tattoo neck was behind the bar and rude once again rolling her eyes at me after I was seated and found out that I had a to-go order indicating she had to charge me tax to sit n eat. Constantly rolling her eyes away from my direction as she went & retrieved my order. I haven't even looked at my food to eat this $17 sandwich bc idc if it is the best thing unlike my overcooked fries I WILL NOT BE BACK AND DONT EXPECT THIS LITTLE SPOT TO LAST LONG!
