Got really excited to see it was open since a lot of the Michigan locations are closed. ordered (from the kiosk) the typ[ical steak burger, fries and shake. watched the cook right behind the counter grille the hamburgers. This restaurant is Kiosk ordering when dining in or carrying out. You can add extra items to your burgers thru the kiosk system. We ordered 2 bacon double cheeseburgers, onion rings and cheese fries. Based on the pic on the Kiosk, the cheese fries looked awesome. Our food came out and the fries were cold. Looked nothing like the pic. It came with 2 cups of cheese sauce to dip the fries rather than cheese covering the fries like the pic illustrated. There was no bacon on either burger. When a staff person walked by my husband went to let her know about the burgers, she put her hand up and said, "I'm off" and walked out the door. We informed the lady who was cooking the burgers on our way out that the bacon was missing and she wanted to correct it, but we told her it was unnecessary at that point. Streak and Shake quickly became my favorite when it came to Findlay years ago; great burgers, (crispy buttered buns with thin juicy burgers with generous toppings - - and tender shoestring fries, Jeeze they were great. AND of course, the must have milk shakes. Gosh how I HAVE CRAVED THEM ALL! But sadly, the building is there, unkept and dark, although it is "open". With a handful of sad tries, we've decided to pack up hopes for our old favorite place. 1 car in lot, 1 car at drive thru. Right by the high school, easily accesible to I-75 too. I've always wanted to try Steak 'n Shake, finally had a chance recently and was underwhelmed. The burger was average at best and the chocolate milkshake was very disappointing. McDonald's milkshake way way better. Fries were pretty good. Overall I was disappointed with the experience, maybe it was just this location. I found the manager rude and unwelcoming. Had an attitude for some reason. Was annoyed when I asked to pay by credit card and then I had to 'ask' for my receipt and he acted like he was doing me a favour. Won't be going back. read more

Honestly so disappointed in our visit... we were seated after a short wait, not sure why because there were maybe 5 people inside the restaurant when we got there. Not exactly the epitome of busy, but hey, whatever. So we got seated, our waiter was over promptly. We got our food and then our waiter disappeared into the abyss. Never to be seen again. He helped some other tables, but never us again. We were to be the red headed step children - no attention, no more service, no more water. Most importantly no more water. So we wanted to leave immediately after eating because we needed water more than if we were walking across the Sahara desert. We also wanted a milkshake, but no one was ever going to return to our table as if we were on a deserted island. So we left... and went through the drive thru to get a milkshake (hopefully a single employee will be manning the drive thru window at least, right??). We approach the drive thru screen and receive this greeting, "I'm sorry... the drive thru is closed due to the lobby being full." It's questionable whether or not the lobby is ever open or if they are even accepting orders at all because you can pull up to the drive thru in the middle of the day and they have the audacity to say they aren't taking any orders when the parking lot is empty and you can see 5 people inside. Didn't get a steak. The shake was really....good. Fries were small and stringy the guacamole was overcome by pepper. Makes me think the avacado was old. I have never been in a restaurant or road side stop where the toilet was missing a chunk of the china bowl. It was still functional but how does this pass the Health Dept. inspection. Drove to Findlay from Columbus, OH on the morning of April 27, 2019. Wanted to grab a breakfast, before going across the street to the OMEA State band event at the high school. Was just at this location. I sat at the front waiting to be seated for about 10 mins. No one ever came even though 4 employees looked at me . One even said "not my job". As I stood there looking around there was at least 10 tables still dirty and more trash on the ground than a ball stadium. Wow, a new low! My expectations were not high to begin with but the kids want what the kids want. After waiting in their drive thru that took over 20 mins I was told they are only accepting cash. When I told them I was shocked they would let people wait that long they offered no understanding, sympathy, or apologies. Their order taker was rude and condescendingly told me it was posted on an orange cones. I drove around and yes they did have an illegible rained soaked sign taped around a cone. First time going to a Steak and Shake! The closest to a place like this in SoCal that I've found is Denny's because of the 24-hours open convenience and the simple food choices with multiple options. (The Yelp times say open til 1 am, but on the windows it says open 24 hours? Please fix) I had the Nacho Cheese burger with jalapenos and parmesan seasoned fries, and I think the total was around $5.50 with a drink or something? Excellent. The burgers weren't very thick, but not as puny as a McDonald's patty. The fries, too, were like potato straws...very thin, but not limp and oil covered. Shakes were around $3 I believe (I didn't have one, but the rest in my party had several, with several candy additives and toppings. They were pretty thick, too. The shakes, that is. :)) The waiter was pretty snarky, was grumbling about some song on their radio, and put a shake of my friend's on my check, but whatever. It was after 2 am, and from 2-4 am, they have a shake happy hour for the time being. I plan on dropping by very soon and trying one of their thousands of varieties of burgers and possibly breakfast tacos. For the price and convenient open times, it makes a great place to just hang with friends and listen to top 40 radio while sucking down some M&M shake. read more

Ive been here twice - once in 2012, and again in February. The first time back in 2012 was fine with decent service. After this experience I decided to stop here for dinner while driving home from Cincinnati. I sat down and started to look over the menu, and a server came by and said I would be right with me. About five minutes passes and a family of about 6 people sits down and the she went right over and started taking that tables order. I proceeded to get up and walk out the door at that point. Unexpected bad service. Had to wait about 30-45 minutes to get our food. Fries were a little cold. Employees were calling other employees a bitch. Don't know the one Mexican looking girls name but she kept giving other people dirty looks. Our servant was about the only good employee there. The sweet tea I had was just enough sweetness that I like but it tasted unbelievably moldy so I got a coke instead which taster a lot better than the tea I had. The people that came in after got there food first and they ordered about the same things that my family of 5 had ordered so then we waited about 10 more minutes for our food had arrived to our table. Sadly, Steak N' Shake is going down hill as a rated business because they lost Tim and some of the best workers due to what I assume was little wages. People need to get paid for their worth, time, energy, and effort, and to not just be treated like a number that can be easily replaced because that is rediciousness, and uncalled for. The drive threw is so slow that they tell you to pull up because they are on a timer so they don't look bad because the workers which are seriously slow due to God knows what can't prepare your food in a timely manner or maybe that type of food establishment is not made for having a drive through because let me tell you it's "NOT FAST FOOD" because it takes time to prepare so it's not the workers fault, but the actual business owners low IQ thinking a drive thru NEEDS TO BE TIMED- HOW DUMB! We just ate at this Steak'n'Shake and felt it necessary to comment. We were sat within 2 minutes of walking in. Same person who sat us waited on us, extremely courteous. Place was clean and free of trash and restrooms were also clean. We almost passed on this place up based on previous negative reviews. I grew up eating at Steak'n'Shakes around Missouri. Where we currently live in Michigan there are no close Steak'n'Shakes, mostly Culver's. I really do like the food at Steak'n'Shake but almost went to Culver's because of the bad reviews here. The table next to us was in worse shape. They were over an hour in and when we left, they still didn't have food. Waitress stopped by twice. We had to shake down other staff to get silverware.
