So this Steak n Shake is back in business as of a few weeks ago.... Stopped by today no one was the drive thur line one car pulled up and 5 cars in the lot. Looks like a good time to get fast service right, NOT. The girl at the window was nice well spoken and had a friendly attitude. Ordered a cheese burger and fry $5.40. Pulled to the window to pay she says " Your burger is coming fresh off the grill please pull behind the car in front of you" I always hate to pull forward they have your money now they will take their time, is what goes thur my head. 7 mins later the car in front of me gets her single bag order. 7 mins later mine comes out.. I tell the girl "you should let people know Its going to be 12-15 mins. She says everything is made fresh to order, I tell her that has nothing to due with you telling people ahead of time how long they will be waiting. She ignores me delivers food to the car behind me.. So next time I will not pull forward, see how long it takes to get my food then. I know its not her fault. What pisses me off these franchise owners don't want to staff the amount of people it really takes to get the job done, but want you to pull off the drive thur timer so they look good to corporate for having a speedy drive thur time. Was my first time at Steak 'n Shake and I was excited to go, but as soon as I got in there it smelt horrible. There was trash and food on the table and floor and in the seats. They sat us down at a dirty table and I had to ask the server if they could wipe it off. Did not get my food on time or at once and had to ask them several times where my food was. People who came after me with a bigger party and they would get their food first. Milkshakes were wrong and manager was not helping at all, one server was very rude and sarcastic but I can say it was nice of him to pay for our food. I've been to this Steak and Shake and the wait time was long (which I don't mind), but today, one of the employees who worked the drive-thru menu was a bit rude. My boyfriend was asking for clarity on a menu item, and the employee he was conversing with had a harsh (almost annoyed) tone.In fact, another employee had to interject and explain the details in neutral tone, because the previous one sounded argumentative. First I went to the drive thru and waited about 15 mins before I went inside to order my food. Once inside I waited another 30 mins for just a burger and fries. There were several workers present and it seemed that only two or three were actually working! There were several upset customers waiting for their items right along with me. I have been to many locations of steak n shake and this location is the worst. I tried it several times being patient and the last visit was actually my last unless they send notices out that they have changed. 1.The have a wait here to be seated and no one is ever there to seat you or they take forever. No one acknowledge your presences. I have sat myself all three times. 2. The shakes takes forever to get to your table your food is almost gone. Except for my first visit. I miss that waiteess. 3. Appears they are under staffed. I always see the manger working. But note he do not acknowledge you either or appoligize for the wait. 4. Drive through is a joke I could watch a movie waiting to order and get food. 5. They allow disruptive teenagers or young adults to act like they have no home training. Good to have fun, dance if you will but to shout out obsenities and there are young children there is a no no. Holloring like they are going to fight. How can one enjoy their food in this setting. Or even work in this setting if they are about business. Police should have been called to calm them down or escorted them off property. I love Steak 'n Shake. Love the burgers, love the shakes, love the fries, love the chili. But my last experience at this SnS was terrible. Waited 10 minutes to have my order taken (apparently only 2 waitresses there). Waited a long time for my food. Ordered a double steakburger with nothing but mustard -- it came with pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, none of which I wanted. I had to ask for silverware after my food was served. Burger and fries were cold. The shake was delivered 10 minutes after my food (so I had nothing to drink while waiting on it), and then it was pretty much frozen solid and undrinkable. This location needs to work on their customer service. Start by hiring enough wait staff so you don't upset all your customers. Then get someone who knows how to make shakes that are drinkable. read more

I Just had the WORST experience at the Steak 'n Shake in Lithonia, GA. 2905 Stonecrest Cir, Lithonia, GA 30038 We were a party of 4 adults and 3 Children. We stopped in at around 11:20 PM. Hungry after a full 6+ hours at Six Flags over GA. The restaurant was NOT crowded. Once we were seated it took the waitress 14 minutes to even come and get our drink orders then we had to repeat the orders several times because she was NOT paying attention. after about another 10-12 minutes, I had to ask a different waitress for a refill on my wife's' coffee because our waitress was no where to be found. after ANOTHER 8-10 minutes the waitress finally returned to take our food orders. Which we AGAIN had to repeat several times because she was not paying attention. SO we wait almost 20 minutes for the food to come, As she starts bringing it we notice that there is something wrong with EVERY SINGLE ORDER. I actually had to ask her if she had the right orders for our table. I FINALLY had had enough and got up to go find the manager. Come to find out HE is the one "cooking" the orders. I asked him to come to our table so he could see EVERYTHING that was wrong. He came to the table and then started making excuses for why things were wrong. At that point I told him that there really was nothing he could do to solve the problem because it seemed as if he was part of the problem. Some SERIOUS re-training needs to happen at this location. This is the second time in 3 months that this location has had problems. I will be sending a copy of this post to the district Manager for the area. I can 100% understand why this establishment has only 2 stars. My husband along with my 3 children and I came here on Sunday 8/5/18. They were not busy when we arrived. Our waitress took our drink order and 15 minutes later another waitress came to take our order and we still had yet to receive our drinks. After waiting another 15 minutes our food arrived. I asked her for seasoned fries and she said do I want regular seasoned fries or the Cajun ones that are spicy. I told her I did not want the ones that are spicy I want the ones that were in the menu with a picture. I ended up getting regular fries and she told me to put seasoning on them. Hmmm. The cups of everyone was empty on the tabIe when she brought the food. I then asked for mayo. I waited 10 minutes to get it but was hungry so I started eating. At the same I ordered the mayo I ordered the onion rings because I didn't want these fries since they were not what I ordered. I am currently still sitting at this table. Everyone has been finished eating for 20 minutes. She brought the receipt and said the onion rings are coming. That was 10 minutes ago and everyone at the table is ready to go. This is ridiculous. I understand that I'm not in a 5 star restaurant but I've never seen something so outrageous. A different waitress saw me looking around and asked me if I needed something. I told her I've been waiting for 20 minutes for the onion rings and she went to check on them. She said that the other lady did not drop the onion rings and she just did it for me. That's crazy because on 2 different occasions she told me they were on the way. The second waitress told the manager who looked at me and rolled her eyes. I have been a store manager in retail stores for the last 12 years there is no way I would roll my eyes at a customer nor would I let my employees have bad customer service skills. read more

Disgusting. Simply disgusting. I would NOT recommend you eating here. Me and my family went there to get a quick bite to eat since we were hungry, very big mistake. Nobody came to us to help us get seated, they seated around 5 parties before finally coming to us. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and was just disgusted. The bathroom smelled worse than raw sewage and looked disgusting. About an hour later we got our food, but without drinks which followed 5 minutes later. When it came it was cold the server said that it was fresh, and it just came out but my 8 month old was able to eat my food right when it hit the table with no problem! How is that??????? After food came we never saw her again, she didn't even look in our direction. Went on Sunday evening. First order wrong as waitress did not hear me. I ordered a steak burger and small fries. I received a small fry at window. I informed the waitress that my order included a burger. She delivered it to car after a 15 minute wait. When I arrived home I discovered that the burger was re-grilled till brown and fries were inedible as they were so dry and cold that you could not eat them My dog walked away from them. I don't know what it is about the restaurants in that location, but my experience with them has not been good. Do I ask too much of them or they are just not up to standard? I went to this location on April 7, 2011 to get a quick dinner for my family. We enter the restaurant at around 6 o'clock, it was half full, and as far as I could tell about 5 or 6 waitresses were working. We stood at the door for 15 minutes and not once did anyone come to us to say welcome, I will be with you in a minute, or may I help you. Well after waiting to see if they would, we decided to leave. For as busy as the store was, we were seated immediately. It took a few minutes for the server to come take our drink order. Then another few minutes to get our drinks. She took our order after handing us our drinks. Yes handed. Not placed on the table. One of my top 3 pet peeves. It took approximately 15 minutes to get our food. My husbands order was wrong. He ordered a particular chicken sandwich and got the same flavor on a steak burger. Remember that pet peeve of mine? Yes, my plate was handed to me and at best, was lukewarm. My daughter said hers was amazing. Half way through the meal we ordered milkshakes to go. While waiting for those a trip to the ladies room was necessary. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week. Receptacles were overflowing, there were ants on the floor. A couple flies in the stall, and no paper towels. I rejoined my family who are still waiting for the to go milkshakes. So our server comes over and we tell her we are moving up front to wait for the milkshakes. And she replies with 'oh, so you want those to go?' After getting that straight we see milkshakes flying out the window. But none towards us. My husband walks over to find out what the holdup was. He speaks to server and then comes back to ask what we've ordered! They started making them. And then they came out promptly. Need to avoid this location at all costs. read more

We always have good service at Steak and Shakes when we go. This however was an absolutely terrible experience. We are visiting from out of town and decided to grab a bite. It was 2:55 so not necessarily lunch time. We stood at the door waiting to not only be seated but acknowledged for upwards of 15 minutes. All of the workers were just staring at us from the food window. I had to ask if we should seat ourselves and I was automatically told that they would seat us from a woman who practically yelled at me. They said they needed to clean tables when there was at least five clean tables in front of us. After we were finally seated, we were once again ignored for another 10 minutes. The people that were sat before us were never approached either. We finally left after waiting 25 minutes...25!!!! We were crazy to have even waited that long but our kids love the place. We left with them crying and feeling as if we just left the twilight zone. Like I said before, we have never had an experience like this at a Steak and Shake. Someone from corporate really needs to get in there or it will be a failed store. I never post on Yelp but I am seriously in disbelief about this place. read more
