The food is both inexpensive and very good. The servers have always been great. The shakes are very good. This restaurant serves simple food that is better than any fast food restaurant at less prices. STAY AWAY from this place, absolutely horrible, the dirtiest place on earth! The restrooms are a nightmare, I don't think they have been clean or scrubbed in years, there was "stuff" splashed all over the walls and toilette, the staff was rude and unhappy, the wait for two milkshakes to go was over 20 minutes, definitely going to report our experience to the number they provide, it really is a shame because Steak and Shake, even though is not an upscale place, it's still a nice concept and a place for families to go have some fun. read more

This is the absolute worst Steak 'n Shake I've ever come across. We have given them multiple chances and every time it's something. Multiple times it took over an hour to get food (uncomplicated food at that) the restaurant smells like they clean the tables with a dirty dishrag. We eventually stopped going but decided to give them One more shot through the drive thru. I was surprised it didn't take them a very long time. When we got to the window the girl was complaining about working the window. (Window was shut but she was loud) then when we got our good both frisco melts were not grilled and grease was soaked through the bread. Me and my son were heading on a camping trip and we're going to stop here to get to shakes. With the drive thru for convenience two cars in front of us. Literally took 5 minutes for them to say something to us. We looked at the menu and realize this is not the place for us. And drove around and left. Absolutely the worst service ever. Cash lady was too busy chatting to take my shake order. After 5 minutes I left with no shake and went across the street to mcdonalds where their customer service was outstanding and I settled for ice cream instead. If I could give it no stars I would. Didn't get a chance to eat because we waited 40 minutes and didn't even get our drink order taken. The waitresses wouldn't even look at us but chose to flirt with guys at another table. The other waitress disappeared and didn't return. There was one waitress doing her job. The people working the drive-thru on Sunday night, 3/31/2019....COULD NOT CARE LESS. 15 minute wait with only 3 cars ahead of me. Ordered 2 shakes, was only handed one at the drive-thru, had to ask for the second one. Drove off not realizing we had been given only one straw. But considering the lid on one shake was not put on well and it spilt all over my lap as soon as I drove away, it was a good excuse to go inside, get the napkins we werent given and get a second straw. No acknowledgement at the front so I helped myself to a straw and napkins behind the counter. The service here epitomizes how fast food restaurants function these days. No sense of urgency, no customer service skills, no personality from anyone, nobody gives a damn as long as they arent bothered and get their paychecks on time. read more

Well I had one of the best burgers at a steak and shake in New Brunswick, Ga in 97. Apparently that quality doesn't transcend the years. The cheddar burger was greasy and soggy with only melted cheddar cheese and no cheese sauce. Was absolutely horrible. Also got a partly melt and it was soggy as well with a zesty sweet sauce on it that ruined the burger. The only good thing about the visit was the vanilla choc shake and that's what I have the 2 stars for. Lol read more

Make sure you check your food, there's not much I am able to eat at Steak 'n Shake but usually the chicken tenders are fine. Not this day. They looked good but took a bite felt it was very soft too soft then looked at it. It was raw. Outside looked great crispy gold, inside was completely raw. Needless to say I spat it out and had no appetite. The manager was understanding when I called but they don't offer refunds or gift cards only to replace it..... after having raw chicken in my mouth (manager didn't know what salmonella was) I had no desire to eat more of the food I had deemed questionable at this time. I'll be honest; I love steak and shake, but I'm not returning. After having a pissy waitress and waiting for what seemed like an hour to receive a patty melt that didn't have any onion, I flagged down THREE DIFFERENT WAITRESSES, yes three, and told them I had not recieved my milkshake. I asked for it in a to go cup, because I had finished my meal before I got it. I had to wait another twenty minutes to get my dadgummed shake after I finished my meal. The cup was half filled. I went up to the register, and there was a huge line. There wasn't a frickin person in sight. After I got to the register to speak to a very rude person, I decided it would be useless to ask for compensation for terrible service and a meal that diddnt have what it normally has. We visited this Steak n Shake on Sat August 7, 2016. Dan was our waiter and he was new to the restaurant. He was super friendly, treated us like family! He was efficient and took care of us so well. He had a sweet personality and we loved his sports trivia, too! We had 11 people and dinner and shakes and our bill was 120.00 and he did not give us any reason to complain! This is for the Steak & Shake off the I-95 in Vero Beach, FL. This place has to be the worlds worst Steak & Shake. It does a steady business because it is in walking distance of 2 hotels & they have a captive clientele. I actually had to open the bun to make sure there was meat. It was hidden under the wilted lettuce burned beacon & something they call tomato & pickle. I was out all day & it was going on 4PM so I had to have something to eat. The food looks nothing like your ads. When the waiter asked if I liked the meal I said, NO it was awful. He actually turned to another customer who was next in line to complain about me. The wait staff is the second worst thing about this Steak & Shake. The waiter wanted to know about my accent which I don't have but if I did why did he feel the need to ask about it. He also wanted to hear me say the word "water". Is he crazy???????? I am there for lunch not to make friends or engage in conversation with him. I don't care where he is from. Someone should teach them to bring silverware to the table & not wait to be asked for it & to place the plate on the table instead of tossing it on the table. We went here with family for a pre-Christmas get-together. Our server seemed a little bit peeved as soon as we sat down, I'm thinking because we had a large party. He was very short with us when we asked him questions and appeared to be irritated when I asked him if my husband, daughter and myself could be on a separate check. We ended up not getting a separate check. Our food was decent and came out pretty quickly. However, our silverware was dirty. Luckily none of us had to use our silverware for burgers and fries. The restaurant needed to be cleaned. The floor was very dirty, also. I don't think we'd go back unless someone else suggested it. read more

I waited approximately one hour for the sandwich, and found no remorse from the inattentive staff, who seemed more interested in relaxation than service. Best burger I ever had... the Wisconsin Buttery. Two burger patties and cheese topped with onions fried in butter. If your looking for a hot of the grill greasy messy burger and fries this is the place. That's the way I like them. I crave these burgers. You can order your burger with whatever toppings on it you want. So damn good! The chili and the shakes are fantastic too. They also have hot pickled peppers in vinegar at the table. I stack those peppers on my burger and splash some of that vinegar sauce in my chili. Kick @ss. I like that they serve Coke Zero too. I know... When we first moved to Vero 6 years ago we went there and enjoyed their vegetable soup. First ordered a cup then a bowl at a higher price cause we liked it so much. But now having the bowl & cup on the table at the same time something seemed deceiving to me. I emptied my glass of water into the cup. Then took the cup of water and emptied it into the bowl. It filled it right to the top! Why are they charging me more $ for the bowl when its the same amount of soup? They wouldn't own up to it even after I showed it to them. We didn't come back until 6 years later, yesterday. It was only three of us. Mom ordered the chicken fingers with fries and a side of cole slaw. Dad ordered a triple burger with no fries and upgraded for 59 cents for the cup of chili. I ordered the 3 mini burgers with their Frisco sauce and cheese and a 59 cent cup of chili. Our chili never came out. My mini burgers came but with no cheese! Mom's cole slaw never came and dad's triple burger looked like shoe leather. The burgers are very thin and extremely over cooked. The fries look like shoestring fries and under cooked making them rubbery. Can't see how anyone would ever want to go there. What a disgrace. STAY AWAY! read more
