This is a cash only food truck. There are no prices listed but they are kk d of high. Today I spent $23.50 for a fish sandwich and a side of fried shrimp. No sides. Back in the day, I've used to eat here often. It's out of my way so I only eat here when I'm the area. The food is still really good. I stick to my favorites whiting and fried shrimp. It's seasoned well and the fish is fresh. Service is not the fastest but I don't mind the wait. There is nothing that comes close to this spot near my home or job so I'll continue to eat here. read more

5 star fried fish FOR SURE! It's lightly coated, seasoned well & fried crispy! All orders come with two slices of fresh bread, hot sauce and tarter sauce. The hot sauce has such good flavor, but it has no spice at all. The tarter sauce was more like a honey mustard but it surprisingly went well with the fish! I tried the potato salad and it lacked everything good potato salad should have. Unfortunately I can't recommend it... There's normally a line here, but it always moves fast. If you're pressed for time, this food truck allows you to call in your order ahead of time! I've always experienced decent customer service here. I mean it's a food truck that's extremely busy, so I always keep that in mind during my visits. Why not at least a 4 star rating? Because the location COUNTS! This truck is located directly across from UMDNJ hospital in Newark. It's not a terrible area, but not the best either. I always notice tons of trash all around which is completely ridiculous to me. I know it's not the responsibility of the food truck, but they are in that same spot ALL THE TIME! It doesn't hurt to step out of that truck and clean the immediate area for your customers! You more than likely will be approached by a panhandler or two, so be prepared for that! Also, parking can be a doozie during lunch time! Update: The original guys that were apart of this food truck is no longer there. I thought I would give it a try anyway. Bad decision, the fish is great but the young lady with braids, and glasses is rude for no reason. When you walk up to give your order, does not speak, or say Thank you, as if your doing her a favor. When it comes to food, and especially when I drive friends 30 minutes out of my way one way to patronize a small business, customer service matters. I will no longer go to this location. However the food truck on South Orange Ave., will get my continued support. They are very friendly, the fish is great, can't ask for more. This seafood truck across from UMDNJ makes legendary fried whiting, with a signature tartar sauce that has my friends a far as LA, Boston, and the South running to Newark for the fried fish. The fried whiting reminds me of fried fish that you only get in the South. The batter, crispiness of the fish, will have even a picky eater wanting more. The pride that is shown with cooking each order fresh, and caring if a customer is happy with their order is why I love sharing these hidden gems on my social media What made me fall even more in love with this food truck is while I was waiting for my order, a very nice Senior man walked by the truck, and he had no money for food. It was pouring down raining. This precious Senior gentleman was not a panhandler, beggar. This man was dressed respectively, very well mannered. The Owner of the food truck stopped his business conversation, and personally went out of his way to give this man a full meal hot meal, not scraps but a real meal. I was very very disappointed with the service from this truck, First off hand The beef was (Steak-um)and very little, The fish was two little piecescents you,but your price went up Secondly I wanted x-tra sauce and was charged 50 cents more, You are providing poor service now, You had REAL steak at one time cents, Not Steak-um, and a lot of people do not carry cash, time cents you need to get up to date. This place is a gem. The service is a bit slow but it is ALWAYS worth the wait. It's also nice to connect with folks from the community while waiting for my food. I've been dying to try this spot! I pass it allll the time on Bergen St. So I finally went and ordered their Whaler Sandwich. The thing was huge! It was on a footlong roll and had at least 4-6 pieces of fish on it. I enjoyed the sandwich very much and split it with my husband. It had a healthy amount of lettuce and tomatoes on it with their special tartar sauce. Their sauce is a little yellow because I believe they put honey mustard in it. If that's not your thing or you're not that adventurous then ask for it on the side. I loved it on mine honestly. The fish was well seasoned and fried. I also ordered an Uptown and it was not too sweet and just right. It comes in a very large cup and only for $2!!! I think I spent altogether $10 or $12. Heard so much about this truck, so decided to try. The pro: 4 huge pieces of whiting. Besides that I wasnt really impressed. Fish was salty, fried well, but I prefer a lighter coating. The tarter sauce was yellow n had a honey mustard taste that was really a mind trip trying to eat in on the fish. Service was meh. Went to the NJPAC on Thursday, July 20. Placed two orders for fish because a friend said the food was good. Fifteen minutes passed, 30 mins, then after about 45 mins I get my order. This place is questionable. Clearly they ran out of fish because the top fish was normal size, but all other fish beneath that were smaller as if the fish had been cut in half. The fish was OVERCOOKED. I had some pieces that didn't even have fish meat in it just batter. The steak fries were way too large and took too long to cook. Why not serve crinkle fries or something smaller? That may help with the cook time. Oh I forgot you said you knew what you were doing. NOT! They are so slow! Four people and all the guy could say we are cooking a lot of fish. Everyone knows whiting does not take long to cook if the grease is hit so let's be for real. Get it together or else you will be boycotted and stop trying to play is by giving us a basket full of fat steak fries. That is money wasted on your part to buy them. And pls invest in take out trays. It starts raining and my food get wet before I can really enjoy it because it is just in a box. Customers after 15 mins ask for your money back. Owners stop trying to cook to order and drop fries and fish when you see the line because you clearly can't cook to order too disorganized or you don't have the right people working. To wrap up the food was ok. The fish or the grease it was cooked in was TOO salty and fries was like a bunch of potatoes.
