There are necessary evils in this world: taxes, poverty and Justin Bieber. But no one should…read moresuccumb to terrible food just because it's cheap. I'm here to spread a word to Yelpers and stamp out a new evil that has corrupted the minds of the weak. The Cooks Hill steak machine has amassed resources to expand its blight on society with its new flagship of terror: J's Kitchen Steakhouse. *duh dunnnnn* (SUSPENSE) It' s BIGGER - Imprisoning more helpless diners than its predecessor, the dining room feeds like inmates in Long Bay: line up, put your order, pick up, eat, die. (Maybe not die but I'm dramatising here) It's BADDER - Just when you thought you can take a break, the $10 steak offer now runs 7 days a week. Escape is impossible. It's UGLIER - Sorry salads leaves drowned to death in sickly sweet dressing, bland beef masked by overpowering sauces and soggy fries, geddit yet? Read my review again and again - why torture yourself? Here's a challenge if you still want to go: Take a photo of your steak, and compare it to the aftermath of a port-a-loo - the similarities are uncanny. I dread the day this steakhouse grows into the size of CostCo and possesses more bargain hunters. Some cheap things should not be had.

So j's kitchen, cheap food, $10 steak chops chicken or a sausage. Shit loads of salad and chips and…read moremassive amounts of gravy, you get what you pay for pretty much, Have to admit the salad dressing haven't got a clue what it is but I love it! And the drinks are pretty cheap too $1.50 for a soft drink and 2 for 1 on Mondays. And if you get the late enough like 9pm the workers start singing some bad karaoke lol! It's only decent coz it's open late

Salmon: Whisky cured Salmon with cauliflower custard cream and fresh roe... All three of these dishes were a light and refreshing start to a three course meal ahead. I would highly recommend the shaved octopus it's unlike anything I've ever tried, thinly sliced and seasoned well, light and airy. For entrée I had the Pork Belly, which was chilli lime basted pork belly with kimchi crumb, puffed crackling and served with greens, adzuki beans and ponzu dressing. Main I opted for the Rib Eye (pictured) is a beef steak from the rib section. The rib eye steak's internal fat melting into the meat creates one of the juiciest steak eating experiences imaginable. And dessert Apple Pie: fried apple pastry with apple toffee cream, sour apple gel, mascarpone icecream and smoked maple syrup... If you're an apple pie lover, (yes that includes Maccas apple pie) then you're going to love this. It may not be the most photogenic of the lot, but damn this apple pie is whack! Crisp on the outside, soft apple centre and drizzled with maple oooh it's a dream.

Skewers were sufficient to share with another person as the serving is generous. Garlic buns were my favorite. Restaurant is very clean and deco is awesome.

Dorothy we ain't in Kansas anymore. Heck, we so far north of Texas we is in Australia (da long way…read moreround). The problem with Ribs 'n' Rumps is that Texas exists. And Texas BBQ has infiltrated Australia, in many guises and forms in recent years. Sadly, whilst I would have visited RNR a decade ago and been delighted, these days it just doesn't cut the brisket. Whilst the ribs themselves were cooked well, and had plenty of meat, the flavour was boring, sugary BBQ. No smoke, no depth, nothing to make me eat past the first mouthful really. Plain flavours for unrefined palates. RNR is a little disjointed in this location also. The waitstaff are all trying to serve your table. So, even though you get an individual server who takes your order, every single server that passes your table from the kitchen will ask if the order they are holding is yours... Now, that's just sloppy. The meal is also off-the-charts expensive. When two peeps spend in excess of $150 to have dinner, you kinda don't expect the rookie service + bland flavour 1-2 punch combo. You expect something with some wow factor. An uppercut of intensity, or a surprising haymaker of smoke. No surprises here, just disappointment from a pretender unable to fight its way out of the wet paper bag. Whilst I enjoyed the company (5 stars!) the food and ambience left me wanting. Wanting texas. Wanting smoke. Dreaming of the Salt Lick, hand made lemonade, all you can eat platters of pork ribs, sausage and brisket for $20 and mouth-watering mesquite meat!

Ribs a are great, as are the steaks and burgers. Totally love their fries, and the kids meals are extremely plentiful. Definitely try the sizzling mushrooms, which continue to size on their iron player long after they've been served. Garlic prawns and calamari are also decent for a steak house, but you can never go wrong with a full rack of prom ribs. Oh,, and their desserts are awesome, best banana split and Espresso Brûlée!!
