Kava On a Tuesday night St. Paddy's day, I got to experience a lot of fun music, artisans selling clothing, a fire-pit and then a parking lot show of twirlers with flames of all varieties, some more successful than others, but still very fun to watch this relaxed group of people sharing some eccentric skills. I love this place! The kombucha is the most delicious and refreshing that I've ever had, by far, and I used to make my own (that's how much I like kombucha). It's got a very laid back vibe, lots of people working on their computers, others sitting at the bar. I bring my Service Dog and they're cool with dogs (yay!). They have a variety of snacks at the bar near the register, so take a look at that if you're peckish, or want something to go with your drink. They have a lot of botanical teas including legal mind- or body-altering ones. (I'm a licensed and board certified acupuncturist/herbalist, so I know well the medicinal qualities of such things.) The staff is always friendly and welcoming, as well as efficient. I really like this place! I was nervous upon reading reviews that this may be more of a "chill and chat" place than a "work space." But when I walked in with my backpack, I immediately saw four or five individuals with laptops happily typing away. An hour later and the vibe had provided the perfect atmosphere for me to accomplish all I needed to bang out. The bar actually has a cool double level that allows extra space to work from. I went with the cold brew recommendation of the bartender and it was delightful! She recommended I try it with lavender the next time I come in. They also have all the espresso related items. Writing this after what felt like an assassination attempt on my life... I got kratom here mixed with tea that made me sick almost IMMEDIATELY. If you're a kratom drinker you know the feeling when it's a bad batch, but this was the worst I've experienced and I only had maybe 5 sips. I'm a regular kratom drinker though I will say I typically go elsewhere usually as grassroots. Every time I've gotten Kratom here the quality is poor BUT the rest of this place is gorgeous and a great vibe. My friend took me here because my friend was shocked that I had never tried Kava or Kratom before. We got here, the bartender found out it was my first time trying Kava, he gave us a free sample which was nice. He added some chocolate milk in it to make it taste "not as bad". Honestly I didn't really mind the taste, it just tasted very earthy. Supposedly Kava can help with sleep and relieve anxiety. Then we had a cup of "red" Kratom with some lemonade. I was told not to drink too much of it quickly, otherwise I'd have a stomach reaction. So I started getting skeptical, but the Kratom tasted pretty good, majorly because there was lemonade added, it was like drinking an earthy lemonade. I wanted to be supportive as I try hard to support small businesses but this one is a no for me. First, I know a lot of St Pete businesses allow dogs in them but animals shouldn't be free to walk around a tea shop. As soon as I approached the bar a dog walked up to me. I'm terrified of dogs. The place is very pleasent with interesting choice of music. Jeremy was bartending and he was great. I ordered the pomegranate, vanilla and a combo of green and white Kratom and it was delicious. Mine was apple cider and it tasted like a bitter apple cider because of the kratom but it was good! I felt the relaxing effects. Their outside is my favorite. The one in Tampa is decorated nicely it has employees that are educated and what they're serving and good service (st. Maybe I wasn't stoned enough to be here...but I was highly unimpressed sadly mainly due to the service. A friend and I went for lunch on a monday afternoon. The place was quiet and there was one bartender/server outside. We ordered kombucha and food and waited quite a while for our orders. I ordered the mediterranean wrap which was listed on the menu board for $6.50. When we were finished eating and I got the check the wrap was billed at$8. When I mentioned this to the server her response was "oh I just push a button on the computer, I don't know what I could do for you." She then rambled on about updates being made in the system blah blah but nothing to correct the mistake. So this alone is the reason for the 1 star. The outside area does have a nice ambiance with cornhole, ring toss etc but I highly dislike that this place seems to draw in a smoking crowd as there were ashtrays everywhere and quite a few people smoking while we were eating. My friend and I both agreed we wouldn't return. read more
