Even though this store carries a variety of groceries the staff is very rude to the public. A short older lady was yelling at one of her employees and causing a scene in front of customers waiting to be checked out at the register. Maybe someone should be looking into why they can't keep any help. i asked her a question and she snapped my head off. I won't be going back there again. read more

This small market is very convenient to get to and has a nice selection of groceries as well as beer and wine. It is a small place but of you need a few groceries it is a good place for a quick stop. Also they have gas. The reason i gave a full 5-star review is for the excellent beer selection. The have a full size walk in beer cooler that has a great variety. This place is a joke.....I live in fairfax is why I go and its convenient so i deal with the bull crap.......everytime i go to the deli i get attitude and and excuse why they can use there deli slicer.....And they are always out of things not due to COVID it was like this way before the plandemic.... never thought I would ever post a review but I'm sick of this....I work 6 sometimes 7 days a week and the one day I have to make my kids breakfast on sunday mornings I cant get what I need.....tjere needs to be a better veting process when hiring!!!!!! read more

I reviewed this in 2015 and was pretty psyched about it. I'm dropping a star, unfortunately. My husband and I stop here all the time for pre-made convenience dinners. They all sound so appealing and even look good, but man is consistency and quality control off. The "recipe" for their chicken pot pie changes constantly, with not great choices often happening. Splurchy pearl onions and giant mushy celery chunks? No thanks. This time it's almost all potato. And the price is absurd. We've had similar problems with pasta (mushy and tasteless), quiches (rubbery bacon and gristle), and roasted chickens (both falling apart and dry simultaneously). ***Note: this is coming from someone who is known not to be a picky eater!*** I'm pretty sure they just use the meals to use up products that are about to spoil. :-/ They keep us coming back with hope and convenience, but this is getting pretty predictable. Fool me once, etc. We want to support local, and we still appreciate the market (and the sandwiches might still be fine...not sure), but the premade meals are to be approached with wariness. read more

This is a great little market. Great selection of local meats, cheeses and a great beer and wine selection. The 3 stars is strictly for selection and variety. The service and attitude leaves a lot to be desired. They have a nice deli section featuring take out meals , great sandwiches and Boar's Head meats. I often travel here from Essex to get by deli meat as well as local farm raised chicken, beef, etc. The only downfall preventing more stars is the service. I have pretty thick skin but I have to say ... This is the RUDEST place I have ever shopped in. The staff treats customers as if they are doing you a favor by having them wait on you. My advise to them...if you don't like customers or the money they spend in your establishment...then maybe you are In the wrong business. You could be potentially making tons of revenue if you change your standard of service. Word of mouth goes a long way and could really damage a businesses reputation. read more

The food this kitchen puts out is fantastic. I've had everything from pizza to ribs. I have yet to be disappointed. The store has a good selection for what it is. The aisles are a bit cramped but manageable. Be sure to check the dates on boxed or frozen foods. I have found quite a few things outdated. read more

We just stopped tonight to pick up the St. Patty's Day dinner special of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. It was excellent--meat was very tender and vegetables cooked just right! We purchased one dinner for $10, which was plenty of food for two. As locals, we feel very fortunate to have such a great market nearby. The few times I have stopped at Steeple Market, I have been nothing but disappointed - mostly in regards to the freshness of their products. A few months ago I stopped in for some ground beef, only to be disgusted by the tainted meat smell and sludge on the bottom of the package. The meat was not at all fresh. It had that grayish brown color to it. On a separate visit, I purchased Mission brand spinach wraps. When I brought them home I realized they expired 2 weeks prior! I also purchased some of their potato salad once. After eating it, I noticed that the expiration date was 4 WEEKS past the date that I purchased it. I don't know what they put in their potato salad to make it last 4 weeks, but it can't be healthy! I have definitely learned to stop and CHECK THE DATES on things before buying them and not to buy any sort of meat there. read more

They're meats are very expensive for the area and are not always fresh because they order so much. Good deli meat but you have to double check your receipt because they will try to overcharge you. I was over charged $5 for three pounds of deli meat once and didn't notice until I got home. Upon returning for my money back with the receipt a yelling match ensued wi the cashier because she didn't agree with the amount I was owed. The owner Pierre is a TOTAL jerk that has no clue about customer service. Treats his employees horribly and yells at them in front of customers. Consistency is off. Turkey dinner in particular - sometimes the best but often meat is grizzly. Hamburger & fries overpriced and last time I got the special burger, it was way better than the full priced one the week before. Quantity of fries should be measured! I made the suggestion to possibly mark the entrance and exist as such. There have been a number of accidents on that road and a number of close misses as evident by all the skid marks still visable. I was told they didn't think it would do any good as "it's always been that way." Well, the store does a lot more business then in past years and it never had gas pumps before, adding to the traffic. Not a bad selection for the area. There is both a grocery store and an area that does pizza, deli, chicken, etc. They food they make here is good, but the service is not. People at the deli place tend to be rude and the cashiers for the grocery part have no idea how to bag things. Not trying to be picky but I have been there when they will put laudry detergent and drano in the same bag as deli meat and fruit. And they always try to cram everything into just one bag even if you have bread or chips, doesn't matter, just crush them. This has happened to me multiple times. read more

Where to begin...we stopped as we were exploring the area. The Good: 4 stars for the solection and food quality. This is a great little shop, with some really nice homemade foods. The deli section was huge and they had a great selection of meats and sandwiches. We ordered a couple of Vermonters (Turkey, Bacon, Apples, and cranberry mayo on a paninni.) They were really good and well made BUT, one of them was different and had the wrong cheese on it. I would absolutely get sandwiches here. The "Beer Cave" was cool and I found a couple of nice beers. The BAD: the guy at the register has a real attitude and got annoyed with us several times. Not sure about you, but when I spend money at a shop, I expect to be treated civilly by the staff. If you have thick skin or want a little abuse, head on down for a great sandwich or dinner takeout...but check the lid. read more

They make the best steak and cheese around. You can add as much as you want and it still being $8. Very happy about this place. They always have fresh foods and meats. They do have good selection of veggies, and other things. Poor selection of ice cream. Place is expensive. But I'm sure it's because they're the only place around. Always going back. For instance, tasty Italian sausage for their sausage pizza. Flavorful ingredients in their side dishes too. Just takeout, no seating. Don't ever go here! On the outside everything looks great but inside their walk-in cooler is nothing but expired, old, rotten product. The owner, Pierre, will take shortcuts and cut corners anywhere that he can and treats his customers terribly and his employees much worse. On several occasions I have seen him literally yelling at and demeaning his employees in front of customers. There may seem to be a great selection of local products but they are all very old with dates that have been changed. I know for a fact that when meet has gone bad they pull it from the shelf, cut off the green part, throw it in the smoker, cover it in barbecue sauce and sell it for dinner that night. The only people that have anything nice to say about Steeple Market are tourists. Anybody who lives locally that knows of this establishment will tell you that the food will make you sick! Not sure where to start. Been going there for a few years. Today was the tipping point. Friday. "Large sandwich sale day"....get an $8 sandwich for $5. I ordered an Italian. And that's all I said. Got handed a sandwich. Came home. Wondering all the way, what cheese did they put on, what condiments did they put on, what dressing did they put on? None of those were asked of me. Got home. Well, a "Friday special sandwich" is definitely different than a Thursday sandwich at full price. 5.99 on Fir, 8.99 on other days. Friday Sandwich is a "sandwich", no questions asked. I got an Italian sandwich, less meat that the same on a Thursday or Saturday. Swiss cheese...who puts swiss on an Italian??? Provolone is the Italian choice. Then oil and vinegar. Onions and green peppers. I don't like either. I like banana peppers, provolone, ranch dressing. No onions or green peppers. Even had olives on it...I don't like them....but wasn't asked. A few months ago my brother went there, asked for a sandwich, asked for no green peppers. Got his sandwich, it had green peppers on it. He questioned it, the response from them is, "it comes with green peppers." I really think this place employes aliens...not INS aliens, but NASA aliens. Even if you ask for a sandwich with what you want, they just make "a sandwich". I hate onions...hate them...but they're still on my sandwich. Granted on every day but Friday they make an awesome sandwich, at $8.99, on Friday, their sandwich, at $5.99 is different. These seem to be two different items on the menu. I'm going to go back next Friday and order a "Thursday sandwich" where they ask me what I want on it. SWISS on an Italian??????? It's too powerful of a cheese, and blanks the taste of the Italian meats. I spoke of tipping point...the other day I went and got a sandwich, and some raw chicken. Wasn't asked, just did, and sure, it's the way to bag stuff....raw chicken, and my cooked stuff right on top. Sure...no worry about cross contamination. Fairfax is lax in any place good, 3 places to get sandwiches. The first two coming into town are gross (Nans and Steeple)....about time to move to Minors.
