Stephano's has a huge party room perfect for any event. We just celebrated a birthday there with friends and family. We were each able to order our own entree from the menu. My husband ordered the Discovery of Italy dish and I had the chicken picada. I enjoyed my picada dish. My dish's portion was very generous and I had to take a to-go bag home. The service was a little bit slow that evening, but our group was huge! (At least 80 people or more!!!) If you're looking for a nice venue for family or business gatherings, check out Stephano's. I almost didn't go today (bc of the reviews) but I am so glad I did. The restaurant is lovely outside, the patio area is beautiful at night. We got sat right away and our server Jaime was great. There was a .25 cent each wing deal, we got 20 for $5. We got Calamari to start and also got a pizza & the Discovery plate. The food was great, the service was amazing, the place is beautiful, i'm not sure why there's so many bad reviews. I'd say, give it a try!!! read more

I recently took a trip to Harlingen, and I always like to try local pizza spots. Had a pizza and cheese bread delivered to the hotel and it was amazing. Perfect amount of cheese and sauce, crust was great. Cheese bread was good, too. Will definitely order next time I'm in town. read more

First things first. Our first time here, we went in the front door too get a table. No no no. Take out only! Go back outside and walk around the building to the back for dine in. It is a big room and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen has a large glass window so you can watch them toss the dough. Very cool! Our Server, Ivonne, was great. We ordered the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. They were actually panko battered fresh mushrooms instead of the frozen battered ones you usually get. They were absolutely delicious. First time here after the initial building burned down. They did an amazing job with the building. It feels modern and well decorated. They had a large patio with a musician playing. Despite it being a pretty busy night with multiple reservations, we were able to get a seat for 6 with minimal wait. Overall they served you a large portion size and we all left full. Some of the pizzas were a little bland for my taste ( specifically the lasagna pizza) but enjoyed each slice. So easy to have a great time here, especially for large parties. The food was perfectly fresh, and for a packed house during grad weekend, they still served in such a timely manner! Fried Ravioli came out cold and with too much marinara (as if they were trying to mask something). I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Cajun penne pasta and it too came out cold. Sauce tasted as though it came from a can. My daughter ordered Chicken Bow tie Pasta and it was cold as well. Salads that we ordered came same time as the meal. Garlic knots weren't ready and were served later (although they were stale) The service was pretty decent despite it being super busy. Notified a manager at the end and they comped 1 salad and gave us 15% off our meal. This is our first visit since the fire incident and don't think we will be back. We will never go there again. Three of us dined. One had Smoked gouda chicken with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were cold. One had creamy chicken pasta. The chicken was tough and the sun dried tomatoes could not be chewed. I had eggplant. I don't know how they sliced the eggplant that thin. I was shocked when I saw Stefano's only has 2.5 stars. We ate there for Christmas lunch. We had a variety of dishes including spaghetti and meatballs, Gouda chicken, ziti, panini, and a half-meat lovers half-margarita pizza. I also tried the Stefano margarita. My family and I came in for dinner and were initially seated and served our drinks without issue. However, after waiting over 90 minutes, we still hadn't received our food. What made the situation more frustrating was that several tables who arrived well after us were served ahead of us. When we asked our server for an update, she explained that she had been trying to get in touch with her manager because the kitchen staff was giving her trouble about our order. We didn't request anything unusual--just standard items like pizza and pasta, which we saw being served to other guests. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. It was Saturday, and I had a craving for some pizza. I decided to pop into Stefano's as this has always been one of my favorite spots in the RGV. Upon entering, I was greeted by their friendly hostess and seated quickly. I gotta say, I love what they have done with the place. The building is new and the environment feels upscale yet chill. Our server Michael quickly handed us the menu and asked how he could help. This was easy for me, an order of the pizza knots( $3 for 6), some lemon pepper wings, a pepperoni pizza for the fam, and a chicken parmigiana sandwich for me! The knots came out first we're gone as soon as they hit the table. We had to order a second order! Warm and buttery with a hint of garlic parmesan. Next the wings. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I will say, I asked for some of their Buffalo sauce on the side and it made a huge difference when combined with the lemon pepper. The pizza and chicken parm sandwich were the last to come out. The pizza was hot and cheesy with wonderful flavor. The chicken parm sandwich!! Oh sweet goodness! It's like magic when you take the first bite and every time after that. I want to note that their beer selection is extremely diverse, and their sangria is awesome! The panini and the pasta Alfredo was so good. We order a small pizza to share and it was great. I love the open salon, high roofs and the lighting is very pretty. I want to love Stefano's but on out first visit to the new building, they just couldn't get it right. We were ushered to a bar table, instead of waiting for a table in the main dining room. Rarely did we see a waitress and the atmosphere in the bar didn't do much for me. Details were lost in the masses and the long wait for our pizza left us running late for a movie. No salad or bread with entrée like before the fire.The second time, they seated us in the fair north corner. One in our party asked to sit by the window. This dumb statement can out of her mouth. This was the only table available. I looked around, and there must be over 35 tables in that room empty. Three small tables were occupied. she wouldn't move us. If it was just myself I would have just walked out. Food was ok but service person needs training. They need to do something about sound. Something to help absorption. We went there last week there was 9 of us. One ordered make your own pasta with angle hair pasta, and was served a pizza, another one ordered and it was completely wrong, one order chicken on her pasta and got none, one ordered chicken on her pasta and it was so tuff she could not chew it. One ordered a margarita and all tasted it and no one could drink it because it was so bad. We ask to see the manager and waitress said he was busy. We hosted a surprise birthday dinner for a good friend for about 30 people in attendance -about 35 showed up. Unfortunately, the space was extremely cramped, with chairs literally shoulder to shoulder. Saying it was a tight fit is an understatement. after all we were all grown adults. We were advised to place our cake, cards, and presents on one of the tables, which made us even more uncomfortable. Some birthday gifts were left on the floor, because there was no more room at the table. We requested an additional small table but were denied. Since it was too late to go elsewhere, we had to make the best of the situation. Without me knowing, some of our guests decided to sit at the next vacant table. A manager came to let them know that it was reserved for another party. I was called to say something to my guests. Embarrassed, I told the manager that if she, the manager , wanted them to leave - she would need to be the one that have to tell them. With plenty of empty chairs and tables in sight, she just walked away without saying anything to them. While the food and service was good, the lack of accommodation and consideration was unbearable. At the end, the "reserved" table never showed up. Frankly, I'm little disappointed to have to leave this review, but it was an honest one. read more
