All I can say is I could kick myself for not coming here first. It has been nothing but a positive experience as a parent and a blessing for our daughters. From day one the students have been totally welcoming and lovely. Class size is half what it was at the other school and teachers are amazing. The staff and administration are very responsive and always looking to "do more" to make the school a better place. Parents have also been so friendly and inclusive. I highly recommend St. Luke to anyone asking a high quality education that combines important Christian values with academic excellence.

There's safety and love that envelop the students as they walk in the door each morning. The love is given and received, and is almost easy to take for granted because it's just always there. The positive energy in the classrooms is due to the teachers and staff who have chosen to teach in a Catholic school almost as a vocation, as well as the children whose families have chosen this school. As a reading specialist and elementary and middle school classroom teacher, my trust deepened as I recognized the curricular knowledge base for which the administrators and teachers used to select their resources and programming. The importance of including phonics, spelling, and word study is important to me because I have seen the value of it first hand. Their understanding and knowledge of brain-research-based instruction as well as their understanding of meeting the needs of the WHOLE child is impressive and unique in our present educational climate. Additionally, the partnership between the teachers and administrators has been instrumental in making the curriculum accessible to the students. St. Luke's is truly growing and nurturing critical-thinking, independent, well-rounded, soulful individuals.

Benefits: They have really good benefits here at SXU such has good health insurance, 403(b), FREE graduate school at SXU (just need to pay some sort of fee each term/semester), professional development opportunities, you are able to teach TS-100: Transitions (1-credit course required for first-year students) only if you have a Master's degree, etc. I'm planning to start the MBA program this coming fall (Fall 2025) and I'm excited! Work Environment: The staff I've interacted with so far have always been friendly & welcoming whether that is my colleagues or fellow staff from various departments. Collaboration is always encouraged but rarely happens except for big events like first-year orientation known as ROAR (Registration, Orientarion, & Academic Readiness), ACSD (Advising & Career Success Day), etc. I'd love to have more opportunities to collaborate with various departments. He also had a dinner with the president. All staff is very polite. All students very well educAted and very friendly. Everyone here is happy to help you and show you around. Education here is top of the line. There is help every where you look. I am very glad my second son decided to transfer here as a Junior from all the other choices he had. Although I was not happy at all that this time around for transfer students they did not have a tour of the school. Unless you had to make request for that at the same day classes started. I am a happy parent over all. I was able to come and stay the first week and enjoyed The library. I believe in a good education and the code that this school offers. One thing for sure: they all graduated from high school & went on to college. As for current day involvement, I visit the school to pick up my grandkids every once in awhile. As a parent of a child with autism, I feel obligated to share my experience with Rebecca Snyder, a…read morespecial education teacher at Galileo Scholastic Academy. I personally witnessed her yanking my son's arm when he was just standing there, which immediately raised red flags. I reported this to Child Protective Services (CPS) and also contacted Chicago Public Schools directly. Following that, I had a meeting with both the principal and Ms. Snyder. During the meeting, she kept going off-topic and acted distracted--pretending to type on her laptop and not fully engaging in the conversation. It felt dismissive and disrespectful, especially given the seriousness of the matter. The principal reassured me that Ms. Snyder would no longer have any contact with my child, which gave me some peace of mind. However, I'm still very concerned. I've heard from other parents--and even a teacher--that her behavior has been questionable before. She also once made my daughter cry, and when I confronted her, she apologized but blamed it on having a bad day. That is not acceptable behavior from anyone working with children, especially those with special needs. Most recently, I saw her in the school again giving a young student a very disturbing look during a lesson. I was thankful in that moment that my own child is no longer in her class, but I can't help but worry about the children who still are. I'm writing this to urge other parents to be aware and to advocate for their children. Ms. Snyder's behavior needs to be looked into more seriously--for the safety and well-being of all students at Galileo Scholastic Academy. It's a great school I love it all my kids been going there she is a new teacher. She's been there for a couple of years now this is the only issue I had with the school.

In August, he celebrated his first birthday and in November, he officially reached his 1-year-at-daycare milestone. As a new mom, choosing a daycare was stressful. The idea of leaving my child with strangers made me incredibly anxious and I wasn't sure if I was making the right choice. I was worried my son would not get love and hugs and snuggles throughout the day but that could not be further from the truth. The staff is loving and affectionate. He is always getting love from someone! The teachers are incredibly patient, understanding, and compassionate. They work together to keep the children happy and tended to. My son has developed so well and learned so much at this daycare. He has such a good relationship with his teachers and is often excited to see them. Staff will send pictures often, especially during a celebration. Birthdays at daycare are considered special, they set up a little photoshoot for my son to commemorate the moment. They celebrate often and bring in bouncy houses for kids, provide gift bags, and offer age-appropriate opportunities for fun. They also provide breakfast and lunch that are made at the daycare. Huge plus! The students are allowed to freely play with each other, too, and at just one year old my son already has a little best friend. Thanks, Little Bird! I could not be happier with my choice of a daycare.

Arlington Heights was, and still is, an all-White community. My brother and I, who are South Indian children of immigrants, were subjected to the extreme racism and bullying of the children of the 70s, which the teachers occasionally snickered at as well. My mother experienced her own form of adult bullying and being mocked for speaking with an accent (not even the teachers appreciated that she was bilingual), and eventually she quit the PTA. I was always an exceptionally bright student, and although I was "permitted" to skip a grade, by 4th grade I had run out of math for them to teach me. In 5th and 6th grade I was relegated to being a "Student Teacher" and grading papers. It is 2026, I hope that Poe's tolerance of bullying - of ANY kind - has changed. My mother still lives in Arlington Heights. Over the decades, my cute little school has grown bigger and uglier due to hideous, huge, square brick additions. All of that money and construction and not one window for the kids? Attached to Poe was our beautiful, beloved Raven Park. Now it has been entirely taken over by a basketball court and a tennis court. If I had any children who attended Poe, I would disapprove of Poe because their emphasis should be on education and play for all of the children equally, not just the ones who play basketball and tennis.
