While working on the piano, he noticed that I had some stuck keys and rusted strings. He communicated with me potential ideas, and we both worked through solutions. At the end of the tuning, he played some amazing music and even polished my piano! We're now a few weeks away from moving out of state; we've asked them to return our piano but now have no way to sell it elsewhere in time. We definitely feel like there was a lack of honest communication and lack of professionalism.

I came to this spot yesterday to buy yet another instrument for Thing One. This is now his third…read moreinstrument. He plays the guitar, tuba and now the doublebass. If he doesn't turn out to be some type of someone in the music industry when he's older, lawd help me..he's gonna be disowned! However, I have been communicating with this business via text for about a month now to get a doublebass ready for Thing One. In the communications, we have discussed the required height, type of bow, and type of use this instrument would get to determine which base would be the right fit. When we arrived to pick up the bass, we were greeted warmly and given a quick lesson on the proper care of the instrument. This process took no longer than 30 minutes from arrival to signing the paperwork. I am looking forward to hearing the tones of this beautiful instrument in my home.

I had no idea what to expect since I stopped playing a long time ago, but Russell and Derek were so helpful! I was completely out of my element, but they explained everything patiently and I felt so welcomed and at ease after talking to them. When I said that a friend was going to use the violin to help her little sister practice, Russell mentioned that they have bright colors for bow hair! I chose purple hair and was so excited even though I'm not even the one playing the violin. I wish it had been an option back when I played!

Charles has been maintaining our family's three pianos for close to ten years now. We won't let…read moreany other piano technician touch them. He made my wife's baby-grand Schimmel sound like a Steinway. We have two Steinway Bs in small rooms, and Charles was able to voice them so that they don't over-resonate. And speaking of voicing, Charles's excellent care ensures that all octaves of each piano are the same brightness. No dead or overly bright octaves can be heard. Charles has also given us valuable feedback on our children's practicing habits. By observing the wear of the hammers of one piano, he was able to tell us that our oldest child's practicing style was overly percussive. He worried that she might be heading for a repetitive stress injury; our daughter's complaints about pain in her forearms confirmed Charles's suspicion. His timely feedback encouraged us to make an adjustment in our daughter's learning style, and the problem moderated significantly. Gratefully, we consider Charles a good friend too. When we invite him over, he asks about our children's school and music activities. He even listens to my stories. I can only think of one downside to Charles: he's in demand. That means if you need him today or tomorrow, he probably won't be available. But if you can wait for his schedule to clear, he will make your piano sing. If you can't wait, invite him come in later to correct the inferior work your last piano tech did.
