This is really a hub for creativity, whether it is for artists, businesses or events. No matter your venture, you will be welcomed here and looked after. The crew at Tenth & Gibson went out of their way to help me out with my event. No matter my enquiry, they found a way to assist and support what I needed. What I do love about this space is that it is well priced, open, well sized, funky, colourful and you can pretty much work the space you want it. There is nothing to navigate around; and there is great acoustics and lighting. There is some pretty cool street art on the walls and the decor is really funky and eclectic. So, you don't really need to do much to dress up the room. It already looks really great. The other bonus is it is just outside of the CBD and there is free street parking! Your guests will love that! If you need it, you can make great use out of the photography backdrop. You can project onto it or use it for your own photography for your event. It was a brilliant backdrop to my photos of guests. If you do have a catered event, there is a space to the side of the main Venue room you can use with easy street access. Speak to the staff about using this. I was absolutely delighted to have used Tenth & Gibson for an event. It is by far one of my favourite venues in Adelaide and I recommend it to anyone looking for a space for large or small events.

Two magnificent open fires, cosy lounges as well as big tables for groups, makes it versatile for any situation and perfect for a cold winter's night. They have a few gourmet pies on the menu, including chicken korma and cheese kransky and what I thought was a massive vat of soup. Turns out it was spiced rum! My kind of soup. The service is attentive and very friendly. There are only 2 red wines available by the glass, so it's not an extensive wine selection, but they are very nice wines, so I'm not complaining! I haven't seen a band here yet, but I look forward to that treat soon. It looks like it would be a magnificent place in summer sitting outside under the fairy lights, so I look forward to that too. Meanwhile, I'm very happy for it to be winter as I can't get enough of those gorgeous open fires!

The main area I front of the stage is sunken, so plenty of room for dancing, or for the people around the edge to See over. An ample size stage for bands and choirs, and a huge greenroom area upstairs, that doesn't have you clambering over audience and ruining any costuming surprises. The inhouse PA is a pretty sweet inhouse system. A roof mounted projector makes for showing your slides and videos while you take up all the stage without making all the shadows too! Out in the bar side, the cracking fire and comfy couches while you knock back one of the beers from the local selection and munch down on some tasty snacks, and maybe if you're in for a bit of nostalgia, play a round or three on the pinball machine.

Rather Partridge House is a beautiful old community home, originally built in 1899 for a Mrs Elinor Varley. The house is today set amidst stunning gardens and grounds and is used these days predominantly as a venue for weddings. Partridge house can also be hired for all sorts of events and is home to various community groups and organisations. If you're looking at hiring the venue, it will seat 80 people for a sit down function or can take 130 for a cocktail party. Take special note of the fountain in front of the house as a location for you photos. It was donated to the owner by former Adelaide Mayor and state pollie, William Townsend back in 1877. Fast forward a hundred years or so to the early 1970's, in fact around the same time TV's The Partridge Family was making it big, and there was talk of demolishing Partridge House and using the land to establish housing. Thank heavens, the then Glenelg Council decided to buy and restore the historic site instead. The beautiful gardens and grounds are open to the public every day, but the house is closed.

Comprised of two heritage listed church buildings, the atmosphere of the company's theatre spaces is unique and really adds to the feel of the shows. They are major supporters of the Adelaide Fringe, and host their own Fringe program over three different venues, including the two theatres at their Holden Street base, up to six different performance spaces in the Adelaide Town Hall and one at Thebarton Theatre. The director of the theatre invites international acts to the Fringe to create the Director's Choice season. They also support local and Australian performers. Alongside their huge Fringe involvement, they support the South Australian Writers Theatre by providing a venue for regularly staged readings. The company also runs a yearly Graduates Season for recent graduates from the AC Arts theatre courses as well as from the Flinder's Drama Centre. Graduates can apply to stage a performance at their theatre and be granted support. The theatre's busiest time is around the Fringe, and their performances are always worth checking out. They're also on the perpetual look-out for volunteers to help during the Fringe, and will thank you with free tickets to their shows!

A particularly interesting venue situation is the Holden Street Theatres, with a couple of venues in the same little complex. Directly beside the Hindmarsh Stadium, these theatres are inside old church buildings from years past. I have seen some very interesting shows here, and also some dreadful tripe. That's the chance you always take when it comes down to it. Going out to the theatre can be a great experience or it can be a bit of a dull dud. You may end up with a dull bum sitting on the less than luxurious seats at either the Holden Street Theatre or The Arch, and you may get a stiff neck in The Arch because neither stage or seating is raked, meaning it is all flat and not always comfortable to see depending on where you are and who is in front of you. There is also the lottery factor of local theatre; many local actors suddenly appear in one person shows or shows that are really a little far out of their reach as performers as they attempt to capitalise on the festival by throwing on a show, and they may as well have stayed under the rock they crept out from in the end; but there are some wonderful shows that come and go. Many of them here at these very theatres, so if you feel like the gamble, and usually it's around the twenty dollar mark, try out Holden Street. If nothing else you'll have an amusing adventure that hopefully will leave you inspired.
