Recently, he completed a project for us that included the replacement of all of our rear windows and door, as well as rebuilding our interior staircase (among other various smaller projects including lighting upgrades). Donny was able to come through for us when our previous contractor was not able to commit to the work. His communication was always clear, his quote was right inline with what we had been previously quoted (so very fair), and he did a great job completing the work on time before our painter's pre scheduled work was set to begin. A few years ago I was looking to have concrete countertops installed in my home. Before I heard of Yelp, my searches were all done via Craigslist, so that's where I found out about Stellar Construction. I e-mailed them with approximate measurements and what it was I wanted my concrete countertops to look like (color, thickness, etc) and received a quick response. Donny e-mailed me with pics from work he's previously done along with a list of references of people he's done work for. After checking his references, we set a date for the work to start. Donny e-mailed me a contract and he came by the day before the work was to be started and picked up the 50% deposit and the signed contract. After he left, I realized that I just handed 50% in cash to a total stranger...a craigslist stranger nonetheless! Even though he was very polite and seemed very trustworthy...and the fact that my gut instinct told me everything was going to be ok, you just never know nowadays. I would find out the next morning whether I got duped or not (it was a very sleepless night for me, to say the least). Low and behold, bright and early on Saturday morning knocking on my door was Donny with all of his work materials and a partner in tow...yay!!! I can't even express to you how excited I was...for 2 reasons...I didn't get craigslist duped, and my concrete countertops will no longer be just a dream, they'll be a reality! Donny and his partner started working right away making the molds for the countertops and getting everything prepped. They came back the next day to do the concrete stuff (mix, pour, etc.). He then came back the following weekend (once the concrete was cured) to make it all pretty. Once he left, I had the kitchen that I've always wanted with awesome concrete countertops! I was EXTREMELY pleased with his work and will definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to do concrete countertops in their home! He was such a pleasure doing business with...very polite, clean, courteous, and HONEST! Remodeling my bathroom last summer was the first major project I had ever been through and Donny at Stellar Construction made it a very positive experience. After scheduling an in-home consultation with Donny, he got back to me the same day with a competitive quote. Other contractors that I had contacted took weeks to get back to me or, in some cases, never even bothered to respond. The bathroom remodeling project was scheduled to be completed in about 2-3 weeks, but actually took 4.5 weeks, primarily because of the difficulty in scheduling the building and plumbing inspections and because of the intricate tile and accent work. Having our bathroom out of commission for a month was not the most convenient situation of course, but I took comfort in the fact that Donny and his team were doing a high-quality job and were not taking unnecessary shortcuts just to save time. They made sure that everything was done right or he would make it right for us. For example, I had unlevel floorboards and instead of simply tiling over it as had been done before by another contractor for the previous homeowner, Donny made sure that it was perfectly leveled before the tiling was done. He even personally called the tile store to complain on our behalf when he discovered that the ceramic tiles that I had paid good money for were not perfectly flat and square. Donny is very personable and easy to work. He took the time to address in detail the many questions and concerns that I had and he walked me through the pros and cons of the various options I had to choose from. He was always accessible by phone and he provided me with daily progress updates, so there were never any surprises. It's been nearly a year since the project and we are very happy with our bathroom. I was recently looking for a poured concrete specialist because the guy we were working with blew us off, probably due to a pretty small job (fireplace hearth). I ran across Donny from Stellar in my search and could not be happier the other guy turned out to be a flake! Donny was very responsive and began work pretty quickly on our project . Donny is a licensed contractor so we had him do some additional work for us, which included putting up the stacking stone on our fireplace (floor to ceiling, not the prefab shaped stone) as well as create a custom poured concrete fireplace hearth. He also hung the mantel and cleaned up the messy drywall and molding job done by the prior contractor. He was very neat and cleaned up every night, being well aware of our 2 year-old son and the havoc a toddler boy can wreak. We were interested in remodeling our kitchen and contacted Donny since he had done work on our building to get certain things up to code for condo conversion. He worked seamlessly with the kitchen designer we had hired, and exceeded our expectations from start to finish. He was very conscience of us living in the home during construction, especially since my wife was pregnant at the time. He was very clear about costs and timing and kept everything to what he said he would do, plus was totally flexible when I asked to change things along the way. The kitchen involved new electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, counters, floors - the works. We also wanted permits pulled and he handled that perfectly - met with the inspectors and got it done. He was aware of our budget and kept things to what we had agreed on. He also suggested concrete for the counters and they turned out beautifully. He did tile on the backsplash and floors, and he really knows what he is doing. We couldn't be happier with our kitchen, and we totally trust Donny.
