I'm very particular about my nails and have tried tons of places in the area on the hunt for the best nail salon & one that lives up to my standards. I'm glad I found Stellar nails because it's exactly what I was looking for! I want to say this place is a hidden gem but it's quite the opposite. They're always busy no matter what day or time so highly recommend making an appointment. I believe they take walk ins but haven't seen anyone come in without an appointment. Since I'm so particular, when I find a nail tech I stick with them and Joonie is the absolute best! I can bring her any inspo photo and she's able to recreate the look or I let her have free range and I'm never worried. Now part of me didn't want to name drop solely because she'll become more busy and hard to schedule with ;) but she deserves some recognition. She's the only person I'll trust with my nails from now on! There's a small parking lot near the salon and a decent amount of street parking. I've never had a hard time getting a spot in the area. Pricing is pretty steep though so be prepared for a mani/pedi to come out to be ~$80. It'll be more depending on if you want a design or not/gel manicure vs. regular polish. They have a huge selection of gel colors and can mix and match to what you need. Their regular polish selection is also pretty large so there's tons of options to choose from. Personally I like to experience the with my nail art so this is the place to go if you're looking to do the same! read more

After months of searching for a decent nail salon, I think I've finally found the one! Thuy did an amazing job with my pedicure. She was super gentle and focused on all the details when taking care of my toes, I really appreciated it! Plus, a lavender soak (or lemon or green tea- your choice!), short leg/foot massage, and some callous removal are all included in the regular pedicure deal, which is just $25! I was so impressed with my pedicure experience at this nail salon. I'd say it was probably the best pedicure experience I've had in bergen county. As for my gel manicure, Silvia did an incredible job making sure my nails were perfectly done. I was so so happy that she was able to do my nails without any lumps, bubbles, streaks or nips appearing. Those were all issues I've had in the past with other salons, but not at Stellar! She was super precise and shaped my nails so well too! A perfect gel manicure, just for $35. Also the color selection was the best I've seen! This place is just okay. The inside seems nice and clean and it's actually a pretty big space. My aunt and I had visited last year and had a sub-par experience. She had asked the nail tech prior to beginning the appointment about an ombre design, to which she replied that she could do it. Later, the tech seemed very confused and was speaking to another tech about how she should do it and ended up just using a sponge and spotting two colors on. In the end, the nails were not ombre and in fact just came out a strange spotty yellow/blue color which is unfortunate because had there been honesty in not being able to do it, she would have just done a different design. I had a fill in and a gel pedicure scheduled, and since I made my appointment for after work it was close to the salon's closing time. The tech took about an hour scrubbing/filing and then when the time came to actually do my nails she rushed through it because of how late it was getting. I didn't even end up with gel. We decided to give it another try recently and my nails came out okay, but their UV gel when it is light curing is one of the most painful I have ever felt. I'm not sure if they file your nails too thin before hand or how that works, but even when my hands are near heat such as in the car, I can feel heat spikes under my nail beds. read more

Once during the week for a mani pedi and on a Saturday afternoon for a gel manicure. Both experiences were awesome! Had an appointment for 4:15pm today, and although they told me I would have to wait 10-15 minutes, I quickly got seated and took my time picking out a polish color for gel manicure ($35). Silvia did my gel nails and she was great! It was clear that the salon was extremely busy, but Silvia moved at a good pace and even took the time to recommend a better polish shade for my skin tone. Wonderful nail salon. This is my new go-to place. It is a bit pricey compared to other salons I've been to (gel mani- $35) but after my second visit I can honestly say it's well worth the price. The girls are all very nice and take their time with your nails to ensure they come out beautiful. Nail salons are all over the place in Bergen County - but this one out shines the rest!! It is extremely clean which is one of the most important things. My gel manicure by Jin was gorgeous!! She expertly cut, filed and shaped my nails. When I came in my cuticles were a mess, they were cut back and conditioned to the point of perfection. She is so talented and the designs she is able to do are incredible. I got their regular pedicure by Judy - it was so relaxing and my toes look so cute now! She spent time shaping and massaging my legs with hot towels, hot stones the works. It was an excellent experience and I am definitely rebooking for a regular standing appointment. If you want a Mani with a big side of RUDE attitude, then go to Joonie for gel nails. I have been here many times and they do an ok job overall (across the various techs); I mostly keep coming back b/c it's so convenient. Recently I started going to Joonie for gel and I have never had such unfriendly and even bitchy attitude from a manicurist. Any question or request about the nails is met with an obnoxious glare, eye rolling and huffing. If looks could kill! At first I let it go or thought she was having a bad day. At my 3rd visit today I finally asked if I had done something to offend her and I was met with an even ruder attitude and question of why I came back to her for another mani if I don't like her attitude. I don't need small-talk or to be friends but getting a mani should not be an unpleasant 45 minutes where she acts like she is doing me a favor. Maybe she didn't realize she is in the SERVICE business and part of that service is being at least a bit friendly to the customer. It's not about the money but I do always tip 20% and you would think that would buy me some goodwill but apparently Joonie doesn't care about tips. Shame b/c she is actually one of the decent techs at this salon. Also, don't bother with the more expensive Spa Pedicure - it's a total scam. It's the same as a regular pedi but they add a 10 min massage and charge extra $20 for it (even tho massage is $1 a min if you get it separately). They claim they do something extra in terms of lotion or something but having had both types, I didn't notice the difference. If you want a foot massage, just add one separately. Bianca wasn't great for Pedi and Lily's gel nails chipped very quickly. read more

I just moved to Demarest and was exploring to find a new go to nail place. I initially wanted to try a place at Closter but since this place was close to me, I decided to try out. What a surprise!!!! The technician, Joanne was rude in the way she responded when I asked a question or indicated I wanted a different shape Her skill was sloppy and she literally cut my skin with the cuticle scissors. i politely tried to describe that I wanted an almond shape which she did not give me. I am actually having to reshape them after paying $65. Because I have worked in customer service I still tipped 20 percent which she absolutely did not deserve. The other clinicians were wonderful with their clients looking at pictures of different designs and listening to their clients. So I have been going to Stelkar nails for about 1 year . The last 3 times my nails broke a few days after I was there. Just whole nails popped off . So I stopped going. A friend of mine said Shirley the owner wanted me to come back and she would make it right so I did . She charged me 110.00 . Not only did she charge me for the nails that broke which were 4 nails the first time . 5 nails the second time and now this time 2 nails. I tried calling and emailing and have gotten no response. I would always tip the girl 20.00 . i was a good customer. I am so upset I was treated this way. . I have been to this salon previously for a regular manicure and this was my first time getting powder dip nail extensions and they came out beautifully! They always do an amazing job and are very meticulous making sure every single nail is PERFECT! It is a little more on the pricey side but it is definitely worth it. If you come for a pedicure, definitely upgrade to the spa product option for $5 and enjoy some aromatherapy-enhanced lotions and scrubs. They also sell flip flops for $3 so you don't have to worry if you forget your own. All tools are newly sterilized in packs, and opened in front of you - which is always great. First time going here last week and I paid $85 for dip powder extensions. Two days after, 3 of the nails broke off. I came in to get them fixed and the manager told me to be "more careful," when I have been getting extensions for about a year now and haven't ever had this issue with any other place. She also insinuated that she was doing me a favor by fixing them for free although she was clearly rushing when doing them the first time because there was a full salon. I have been coming to Stellar nails since CK nails closed because a lot of the girls from CK work at Stellar. The only two technicians that I have experienced there that are good at nails are Shirley and Joonie. Everyone else that do my nails make my nails bubbly, hair in them, and horrible shape. I just went today with my mom and this was the outcome of my nails. They cut my pointer finger when taking off my previous gel with the drill and I was bleeding, there is a very visible black hair in my nail, the polish is extremely thick, and there is A LOT OF BUBBLES. Absolutely horrible. The previous time I came here (2 weeks ago), my nails came out okay but my polish completely chipped off within 48 ho I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt because I loved CK nails, but this salon is no good. If you do go, I suggest seeing Joonie and/or Shirley but they are always booked for weeks that's why I have to see other technicians. read more

Found this place on Instagram while searching for a design I wanted to get and I fell in love with this place and decided to give it a try. It's hidden in a quiet area but parking lot is pretty big so you don't really need to worry about finding a parking spot. When I walked in, the place was very clean, the staffs were welcoming. My friend and I were directed to our seats shortly after arriving. I got mine done by Shirley and I was very surprised at how fast, good, and professional she was. She was able to look at the design I picked and knew exactly what she needs to do. Her work is outstanding and so beautiful. They have really expanded Coco Nails and Spa since I was last here a few years ago. This is certainly nicer than most of the nail salons in the area. They have done a nice job making this into a "spa" and not just a "nail salon." The fiance and I were gifted a gift certificate for here, so we decided to get mani-pedis with extra leg and foot massage. This was such a great experience and I did not feel rushed at all like I sometimes do at other nail salons that want to get you out the door so they can move onto someone else. They have the great massaging pedicure chairs which is lovely. Even better - they provide i-pads to surf while you are getting pampered. I also liked how they limit cell phone use which can be a huge distraction in places like this. read more

I left the salon and shortly after my nail smudged. At other salons , when you pop back in they will quickly fix it. Not at Coco Nails! I waited and waited and waited. After 20 minutes, a client finished and they still didn't take me! When I asked when they could help me, they said these clients had appointments and they didn't know when they could help me. It takes a minute to reapply polish on one nail. When I started to do it myself, she came over and quickly put polish on top without removing messed up polish below.
