I have been coming to Stella's Coffee shop for years. It'a quaint little coffee shop with counter and table service. I absolutely love the breakfast here. The banana walnut pancakes are amazing. They give you strawberry and cinnamon infused butter on the side which really adds some good flavor when you slather it on. The optional sides are good too, bacon, corn beef hash, sausage and grits. The omelets are tasty too. For lunch, My favorite is a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I highly recommend the breakfast here. Lunch and dinner is good but nothing spectacular. I usually order home delivery but my son was at tutoring so I decided why not indulge in some quality me time with some breakfast. I had a seat and was promptly tended to by the server. She took my order and returned with a nice hot glass of water for my peppermint tea. The decor is that of an older woman that wants to make her home "elegant". There are ivy house plants in the windows and the tables are adorned with artificial flavors with matching colors to go with the season. My breakfast friend and it was as I ordered. Scrambled eggs with pepperjack cheese and a Belgian waffle. (Pardon the eggs, I started eating and then realized I forgot to get the money shot). The only thing I would say needs a little more attention is when it's time to get the check. I believe my server may have been eating at the computer which delayed her response time. So decided to order from this place because the reviews seemed ok. We ordered the eggs Benedict and an omelet. This is what we received. I was appalled and immediately called the establishment because the food didn't make sense. I explained to the lady that the eggs on the eggs Benedict were over cooked and not poached, her response was "well we make it like this here". How can a restaurant decide to change the definition of what poached eggs are supposed to be???? She proceeds to tell me that she will refund the eggs Benedict but not the omelette. I explained to her that it was basically burned and she claimed that it wasn't burned when it left the restaurant. I guess the delivery driver must have stopped at his house and continued to cook the omelette. It's crazy to think that in these times there are restaurants that are going above and beyond to provide quality food while some are doing a terrible job! I go here frequently and usually love the food but be careful when placing orders over the phone because some things got lost in translation. Instead of substituting out any sides that I didn't want I got everything extra on the side. I was going to question the total for the check but decided against it. They also got some of the substitutions wrong. When I received the order I called to let them know the person on the phone was so rude to me. Instead of taking any fault for mishearing what I said or placing the order wrong, (which honestly wasn't me and I have three people here that heard me order) I got yelled at basically and was told I was the one at fault. My husband just got out of the hospital (which he was there for 2 months with covid)and wanted an egg sandwich AND a bagel with lox and cream cheese! I really thought "this is queens village.. a bagel with LOX AND CREAM CHEESE?? I did a search on yelp.. there is Stella's!! I did that order and my husband WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY!! I got something simple Bacon(very crispy), egg and cheese on a roll with saltpeppaketchup(yes its all one word in NYC lol) and a bagel with butter and a Snapple. When the food was ready I was charge $8.50, I went to finalize payment with card, they said it needs to be a 10 dollar minimum. Stella's has been one of the best hidden gems I've found on this side of Queens. It's a place I go to when I'm looking to have a substantial and satisfying breakfast for a more-than-reasonable price. I've had breakfast at other diners and Stella's is one of the best in terms of quality and bang for your buck. The Place: Small with about four booths that seat four each comfortably, and at least two tables that seat two each. I've been fortunate to come in on times when seats are available. From my recollection, the dining experience conjures in my mind slightly dim colors, but it's decent; maybe they could use a makeover. It's not as cozy as other restaurants and I wouldn't recommend for parties over four. It's perfect for couples, or for four friends who looking to catch up. I've had no issues with cleanliness. 3/5. The Food: My go-to breakfast at other similar diners is a combo of eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, and French fries with a side order of corned beef hash. I ordered that on my very first visit and I mostly haven't dared to change it up. In particular, the French fries are always cooked to a perfect crisp and the corned beef hash is moist; the potato bits tender. Nothing is ever overcooked and overseasoned. I haven't tried much else on their menu, but I have a feeling I'll experience the same quality elsewhere. 5/5. The People: The waiters and waitresses I've encountered have been pleasant, sometimes leaving a lasting good impression. They'll be sure to check up on you if you need anything. I placed a delivery order on GrubHub at 10:39am. - Mushroom, peppers, & onions omelette with an extra egg and cheese - Stella omelette with extra egg - Side order of sausage First, the menu does not explain what the Stella omelette was; I was taking a chance since they named the omelette after the restaurant or owner. Also, I ordered sausage since I saw on Yelp people had breakfast sausages and I was craving them. The restaurant also charged a $2 delivery fee. When you add extra cheese, they do not let you choose what kind of cheese. The delivery estimate was 11:10 - 11:20am. At 11:40am, I decided to call the restaurant. The woman who picked up sounded kind (which is why I even gave them a star and also because I can't give 0 star). She apologized for the delay and said she would call the driver and call me back. A few minutes later, I got a call from the driver that he was here. When we opened the containers, we were not able to figure out which omelette which. One looked like it had mushroom, peppers, and onions but no cheese. The other looked like a broccoli & mushroom with cheese omelette (it actually also had a few green peppers as well). I assumed that would be the Stella omelette. Apparently, they either mixed up the additional cheese or I just paid an extra $1 for no reason. My partner is vegetarian so I didn't want to give him my omelette when I wasn't sure what was in it. If any of you know what the Stella omelette is supposed to have, please inform me and the rest of the Yelpers here. I opened the container of sausage. First, it's only one sausage. I've ordered take out from Stella multiples times and I was little disappointed when I ordered the burgers well done and received them literally raw. I took one bite and literally tasted blood. However I decided to give it another chance and ordered breakfast a few times and it was pretty good. I've gotten the western omelette which was pretty good, pancakes and bacon are also good and basic egg and cheese on a roll. I guess it's hard to mess up breakfast. I ordered breakfast from here through seamless for the first time today and it was really good. Belgium waffles, pancakes, spinach w/mushroom omelette and a veggie omelet. The coffee was surprisingly good and smooth as well. The ONLY issues II had was the omelettes were a little over cooked and some what dark. And the home fries could've used some seasonings.
