I wish I had taken a photo, but with so many amazing ice cream choices, it completely slipped my mind! The ice cream was delicious--l had coffee and chocolate. I originally wanted just one scoop, but since I wanted two flavors, I was told I'd need to get two full scoops. I couldn't finish it all, but it was definitely worth it. The best part is that Stella's is pet-friendly. There's outdoor seating available, but I did bring Luna inside while I chose my flavors, and no one said anything. Long line but many employees helping at the counter made the wait short. They had gluten free and non dairy options as well as cake and other desserts. We decided to stop in on a Saturday night and happily, it wasn't busy. I ordered the Samoa sundae, which was largely inedible due to the gobs and gobs of hot fudge it was drowning in. Overall, we usually enjoy Stella's ice cream, the salted caramel being one of my favorites, but the ice cream was not able to be tasted due to the overdone quantity of hot fudge. We stayed in Surfside Beach & managed to get to Stella's 3 times. We had their 'Blizzards' on our 1st visit & they were amazing. We decided we needed to go back to try the ice cream so we actually went twice for ice cream. All flavors were good & they give large scoops. Let me tell you about the waffle bowl...I did not leave 1 piece either trip. Best waffle bowl ever...I think it has a hint of cinnamon in it. A server at the restaurant we were eating dinner at said there was a newer ice cream place past the big shark on the right... turns out he was talking about Stella's. We arrived around 6-6:30 and were able to get in like and get our ice cream pretty quickly. I got a cup with a single scoop of cookie dough ice cream. I liked it. It wasn't like oh my gosh this is the best ice cream I have ever had but it was yummy and the spoon changed color with the cold ice cream which was fun. The ambiance was pretty chill. It was raining so we didn't go outside but it looked like there was a covered patio where you could play corn hole and hang out. My impression as a first-time customer at Stella's Ice Cream was anything but a good one. I just wanted to sweeten my day with a yummy ice cream - but what a surprise when the lady taking our order, who was wearing antlers, was very straight faced and sour. This was especially the case when we started asking if their ice cream had high fructose corn syrup. We needed to know what ingredients they used, such as if they used sugar (they do call themselves "Homemade Ice Cream" after all) because of our health concerns - not everybody tolerates such ingredients. Right after we asked that she frowned and became angry at us. She just kept saying "it's just sugar" but I felt skeptical if she was really telling the truth or not. When we got our ice cream she didn't even want to give me the receipt. To make things even worse, after she had given us our ice cream we noticed that one of the flavors was wrong - it wasn't caramel apple. It tasted like yogurt instead - not caramel nor apple. We had to go back inside to tell her about this and she got even more angry because of this; however, she acted nice and happy with the other customers, but not with us. Eventually she accepted her mistake and offered to get another flavor, which we did. We thanked her but she just turned around and left. The people who work at these places are not supposed to judge customers because of the kind of questions they ask regarding the ingredients they have in their products. There are no signs regarding allergens or advising the client of food additives unlike in other places. Establishments such as these need to be aware of the concerns of their customers in order to maintain a happy and satisfied customer base. After this experience, I hope that Stella's addresses this issue and hires the right kind of people with better attitude and good working relationship with customers, taking consideration into the concerns they have regarding what's being put in their food. They all seemed to be having fun and enjoy their jobs. Second, the dog pictures were great! The place is named after the family who owns the shops dog, Stella, who is on all the merch and signs. Last but not least, the home made ice cream was great. I ordered the Cookie Monster Stella's favorite Sunday, and it was amazing. My only thing was some of the cookie dough pieces were really large, so caught me off guard but overall it was a great Sunday.
