Sweet moscato chilled in the glass along with signature cocktails paired well with the one meat and one cheese charcuterie board. Also the whipped feta, veggies and chips went well while sipping. As the tubes of Anita Baker, Jill Scott, and Marvin Gaye spinned on the vinyls, the guys enjoyed grilled cheese while I basked on some mussels. Can I say the sauce was worth everything and definitely wanted to dip more in the sauce. Great food portions and hate I didn't get to see desserts as would love to have pair some sweet with the savory wine. Oh...there is always next time. We love going to Stems & Skins. A warm, cordial cocktail bar with a great menu of cocktails, wine, and delicious bites. They have a nice large bar, and tables for 2 or more, all with a warm glow of ambient lighting. We have frequented here over the years, stopping by before dinner or after attending an event or show. The service is always welcoming and friendly. We had the pleasure of John serving us Sunday night. They always have unique craft cocktails on their menu, but can make anything you prefer. My favorites are the Last Word and the Aviation. They have an extensive wine list, offering every kind of wine or bubbly you would want or venture to experience. The food options offered include small bites, tinned seafood, and charcuterie & cheese options. We've enjoyed the whipped ricotta (with garlic fermented honey, and crostini) on our last visit. Be sure to try the Jamon Iberico, sliced right there. Sunday is a special with meatballs, delicious. And if you need a sweet bite the flourless chocolate tart is a must. My fiancée and I had come in after finding out some horrible news that our best friend had died in a car accident. We were hoping to have some drinks and relax then go home. I (I have spent several years contacting to the DoD in Spain) saw a pierna jamon iberico on the bar with no hoof and asked the bartender (white guy with a chinstrap beard and tam hat) if he knew if it was a black or white hoof (nbd just curious). I had assumed since it was Spanish themed he might know what I meant. He acted like I was a crazy person and didn't even reply; just made a weird face and sauntered off. Gave me crazy eyes and walked away. He seemed like he believed I was making things up. After that the staff treated us like pariahs and the female bartenders frequently asked my fiancée if she was ok or needed help. Granted, we were not super cheery due to the recent loss, but we just wanted a bite and a drink. This was humiliating. We saw them side eyeing us and talking. It would be very dangerous for me if I lived in Park Circle! I absolutely adore, stems and skins! I haven't been in a while, but when we do go, we like to sit at the bar and chat with the bartender. They have the best drinks and the best appetizers and the best small plates and well just about the best everything, especially wine! I wish this location would open a second location in Mt. Pleasant!! I've discovered different cocktails that I really like, even though I'm more of a wine person. Check out their happy hour because it's also wonderful. After supper, we were walking around Park Circle trying to decide where to go for either dessert or a drink. We chose Stems and Skins. This establishment is lit by candles and has an amazing atmosphere for chatting with friends. It could also be a romantic place for a couple. The service was top notch and the server was extremely knowledgeable about the drinks and food served. The bathrooms match the quality of the business. It was clean and had nice soap and real towels to dry your hands. These towels are rolled up on a shelf and there is a linen laundry basket to place them in once they are used. The small, cozy setup, with a large bar area, made it feel intimate, and the music was a nice touch. The bartender was friendly and quick to serve us, and the Dole Whip cocktail we tried from the happy hour menu was the best thing. However, our experience was a bit mixed. While the ambiance was nice, the food service was disappointing. We waited an extended amount of time for our cheese plate and some of our items. We sat outside at the large bar-top table, and the staff was friendly, but I think they kept forgetting about us. The menu seemed a little overpriced for what you get. We did enjoy the whipped ricotta and there was even grilling outside, which was a nice touch and smell to the atmosphere. The food was ok, but the portions were small and not necessarily the vibe I want when I get out of the house. They offer food as well, charteurie boards and small bites but we had just come from dinner, so we were just having a drink. Bartender came right over to greet us and quickly made our drinks. Since living in Parc Circle, Stems has become a neighborhood favorite. It started out with a cocktail here or there or meeting up with a friend for a drink. The cocktails are amazing so that's a great reason to come here. I knew they had a menu, but had never had the food until recently. A friend of mine ordered a grilled cheese one night that looked so good I couldn't stop thinking about it. I didn't try anything that night because I just had a big dinner at Lola. For two weeks I thought about making my way over to get that grilled cheese until I finally did and it was glorious. I got the fancy one with the iberico ham and a little salad. I love the ham, but I would honestly prefer it on the side so I think I'll get the regular one next time and then get some meats to snack on separately. the other thing you must try is the whipped ricotta with garlic fermented honey. It was so light on the bread and had a wonderful lemon flavor as well. Now this has become the item I dream about and I can't wait to go back and have it again. read more

This place really went above and beyond my expectations. I arrived here around 7pm on a Friday night and it was not crowded at all. The setting gives a more intimate feel and people are welcome to sit outside as well. The staff are super friendly and easy to talk to. They have an extensive list of wines and cocktails to choose from. They are one of the few wine bars in the US that serves vermouth wine. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I was very open to trying out their house vermouth and to learn more about it. Here's what my friend and I ordered: 1. Atxa Vermouth Wine -- Sweet red wine. I was told that it was a good introduction to vermouth. For only $7, I had to get another glass. 2. Grilled Cheese Sandwich -- Larger than I expected, but so delicious! The cheese melts in your mouth and the grilled baguette has a perfect crunch to it. I would call this an upscaled grilled cheese. It also came with an arugula salad. 3. Grilled Radicchio Salad -- Despite radicchio being known for its bitterness, it was not as bitter as I thought it would be. I loved the grilled flavor to it, as well as a citrus dressing over it. It almost had a savory taste. 4. Octopus and Olive Skewers -- Simple yet fun to eat. 5. Charcuterie -- We ordered "mountaineer" cheese and a rust belt saucisson. Although they were both tasty, I wish we got more than two slices of cheese. It was not really worth paying about $8 for two slices. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience here.
