I went here to one of their wine tasting nights. I always drive by but have never had the opportunity to pop in. They have a great selection of wines at prices for all budgets that are great quality. The atmosphere is dark and casual (but you can absolutely dress up too!). The win tasting is $10 per person and I was able to sample five different wines. All are available for purchase and you'll get the $10 tasting fee removed if you purchase a bottle. They do offer light bites but this is not a dinner spot. My new favorite wine store in Charleston! We went on a slow day which was good for us because we had Joe's undivided attention! He promptly greeted us upon or arrival and started a conversation. We decided to try a sweet flight and a charcuterie board. Both were very good. But our conversation with Joe was great! He actually grew up in Napa is studying to become a Sommelier! I wish him the best of luck which he doesn't need because he knows his wines! The store is beautiful and has a wall of all wine! They even do private tastings if you book in advance. What a special place in Charleston! After walking by a few times during non-business hours, my husband and I agreed we had to stop in one day. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by a young man at the bar whom was super knowledgeable about wine. He was kind enough to walk us through the menu and answer our questions. One part wine bar, one part wine shop, and three parts charm Wine and Company has small bites, a large bar, and a few other tables. It is a place that gets crazy busy fast and then can unwind to mellowness just as quick. One thing that I absolutely loved was the huge variety of descriptive flights. I will never know wine like a real wine drinker, but I love a descriptive flight - sweet, bubbly, bold, unique, etc. It made it easier for me to order something new and genuinely like all of it. The service here is exceptional. This is a community location and their service eptimozes it as they worked the space together. No one person helped me - they jumped in as needed. I watched them walk around the space engaging people and helping. No one stayed still, it was a lot of activity constantly. We were provided with a selection of 5 wines and this specific night, they were chosen as some of the favorites of one of the staff that presented each one. It's a cute little spot with a relaxing environment. The staff was very friendly and we arrived early enough that we were seated immediately. We had the option to sit at the bar, but chose a small table. They explained that process of the tasting, which they provided a glass at your table and you went up each time you were ready for a sample. It was a nice variety and I enjoyed the staff's enthusiasm about each selection. We did not purchase any food, but from the different charcuterie options that were ordered by those around us, everything looked tasty. We discovered wine and company through a wine club. So glad we did! We did the Tuesday wine tasting and it was a great experience. We were able to taste 5 different wines for $10. We were then able to take a bottle home from the tasting and take off the $10 fee. We really liked the bar and the ambiance but we were disappointed in attention to detail by the bartenders. We ordered wine by glass after the tasting and the pours were not what was to be expected by glass. In addition, our bill was higher than expected. They don't give a print out bill which makes it tricky to figure out if the bill is accurate. I really want to return but want to make sure the bill is calculated fairly. We want to enjoy the wine and tasting without stressing that the final bill will be fairly calculated. read more

They have many different options available for their charcuterie boards. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. The owner, Josh, and his staff are some of the nicest people around. This is a super cute wine bar we stumbled upon during a bachelorette weekend recently. It started raining and this popped up as close by so we thought what the heck, let's give it a go. Walking in, there is a nice wrap around bar and a few tables along with shelves and shelves of wine. The menu is pretty vast, but this was our first stop for our weekend celebration so champagne it was. The rosé recommended was great. It's a combo wine shop because you can purchase the wine they have displayed as well. He let us know all our options and explained all the different wine flights to us. The flights were not too pricey and definitely worth the money. The only issue we had is that we wanted to be able to mix and match wines from different flights and that was not an option--even with wines that cost the same amount. Perhaps this is an off night. But we had a horrible experience. We first walked in around 830 PM on a Wednesday evening, the individual behind the counter seemed confused. Didn't greet us but asked what we were looking for. I guess that might be an acceptable response as they seemed familiar with those who came in picking up bags of pre ordered wine etc. The only wine was the types of wines listed on a black small board in the corner. When I asked where the Cabernet was from. We were told that it was California. When we inquired further about which region of California, he responded with Northern and pressing further we mentioned well different regions like Sonoma or Napa will have different notes and although he agreed didn't clarify which region it was. My thoughts on a wine bar is that the individuals working there should be able to answer basic questions such as what they're serving and even be able to educate me further on wine. This was an awkward dismal experience with an oddly unsettling quiet atmosphere and a poor layout with areas too bright and some too dark and some areas too empty while others too crowded. Leaving disappointed and the evening excitement killed we decided to go back to our hotel for the evening. Would not recommend. read more
