The food is good and cooked fresh. The problem is they keep going up on prices. I've been living nearby for about 3 years and every time I order food from there it costs more than my last visit. My husband ordered an omelette and she told him the total was $22. Today I got a single salmon cake and a scoop of scrambled eggs with cheese for $11. I was going to add a pancake but $14 for a small breakfast when she makes up the prices as she goes AND has the prices taped off on the menu so they can't be held accountable.....is a no for me. I also don't like that when we go order from there she asks us a bunch of "add-on" questions. Like if we ask for the hungry man breakfast she asks us do we want items but included in that meal and by the time you're done ordering you've accidentally added $5 more dollars of food and you didn't even realize it. Part of the charm is that it's a local hole in the wall so I expect hole in the wall pricing. They are higher than sit down restaurants and Waffle House. read more

This place is a gem. I always order breakfast here on the days I don't feel like making it myself. It hits every time too! I get the wings, eggs, grits and toast. Yummy. Wings always fried golden brown to perfection and the eggs are just like my grandma used to make. Every now and then I will get the pork chop and eggs when I have a hankering for one. The bomb. I love this place. I've been coming for years, and the quality of food has always been consistent. It's definitely a smaller establishment inside but it's so warming and refreshing to come inside. Everyone that I come in contact with is always very friendly and provides a homey atmosphere. The food is priced appropriately for what you receive. I finally made it here on 3/5/2019. Someone told me about Stem's over a year ago. Can't believe I've driven by here a hundred times or more and didn't know it existed. It's a tiny whole in wall next to the Florist. Easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Well I wasn't sure what to get. So for nostalgia I ordered red link split with everything (mustard, ketchup, chili, and onions). The hot dog buns was lightly grilled (toasted). Hand cut fries were great. The special comes with that and a can soda for $5.75 +tax. I also ordered a side of grits. No flavor--but that was fine because I was able to fix it up the way I like when I ate it later. The staff was nice. I will definitely be back. I wish they had longer hours but oh well... I'll get it in when I can. read more

Less than a quarter mile from my house and someone else had to tell me about the place. Actually what they said was the place has good hot dogs. Im like well how good can a hot dog be?? But when the entire nail shop began shouting out their orders to the person going to call in the order, I decided I needed to make a stop here also. As I walked in, I was like ewww....and old building with years of grease smells in the wall, what have I done??? Well, I was waited on promptly, the lady at the counter explained to me that breakfast can be ordered at any time. I decide to go with the hot dog, as the breakfast menu looked like breakfast I could get anywhere, and since the whole shop had bragged about the hot dogs, I stuck with that option. I was glad that I did. The hot dog wasn't so much as good as the cole slaw which was freshly made and the chili that was atop the hot dog, which the server also says is made fresh daily. I saw her make the cole slaw so that I can attest to. yes, its a greasy spoon, but its a pretty good greasy spoon. read more

I love this little restaurant. It's one of my favorite breakfast spots on the southside. The parking is tight, tight, tight and they cook their food as ordered so call ahead to get a jump on it. One thing I really like is that the employees are always friendly...never a bad attitude or an employee that wishes they were somewhere else. Food is excellent. There were a few hiccups when I ordered cheese in my grits or eggs and never got it. This happened when ordering through Uber Eats. I kindly asked for that to be refunded and they obliged. To each their own. You know how you can tell how good a resturant will be by how many customers? There was a steady stream of customers. The inside of the resturant is small and was packed continuously. However, this spot is not for me or my family. We waited over 40-45 mins, when we were told only 20-25 minutes. We ordered three meals for breakfast. Each meal came with the 3 pancakes and a meat, everything else we wanted had to be ordered on the side. So, we ordered 3 side scrambled eggs with cheese, two sides of homestyle potatoes and one side of grits. I wish my husband could get his money back. My husband rarely complains, especially about food. The pancakes tasted greasy and were VERY thick, like hard to swallow without taking a sip of a drink thick. The potatoes are difficult to describe..they were bland and two minutes from becoming mashed potatoes if they cooked any longer. You see the small helping in the picture? The potatoes were $4.00, the eggs, another small helping cost $2.50 and were also bland. My husband also said the grits were bland. The food look good in the picture doesn't it ? Well, save your time and definitely save your money. Our food went right in the trash. Maybe some of the other menu items are delicious. However, I am not going to be the one to try and find out if they are. Needless to say, this was our first time and last time dining at this resturant. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I looked at the menu online, but didn't see exactly what I wanted to order, so I called in and let them know exactly what I wanted and they accommodated me. I ordered 1 pancake, 2 eggs over easy, potatoes, and a salmon patty. That food was DELICIOUS!! Highly recommend. Stem's is a neighborhood gem of Southwest Atlanta. In an area deprived of good, quality, non-chain restaurants, Stem's is a breath of fresh air! As a small, minority-owned family business, Stem's is a "spot" that's doing everything right with good service and great products. All food is cooked to order and is prepared with fresh ingredients, right down to the French fries, which are handcut. The hot dogs, hot links, and burgers are all very good. I haven't tried the breakfast yet but my husband can vouch for the salmon patties and grits. I've also observed a number of people order breakfast during my lunch visits. Overall, I will continue to support Stem's, especially when I need my fry fix. :-) read more
