Wilkinson ECC…read moreis a magnet school in the St. Louis Public School District and is a community of children, parents, staff (including a very active PTO), and Maryville University faculty and students dedicated to preparing autonomous citizens for a democratic society. Education is a process through which learners try to make sense of the universe. This constructivist process involves social, ethical, cognitive, symbolic, and physical growth and development. Children construct knowledge by building relationships between people, objects, and events. Staff collaborates to structure an open, caring and stimulating environment. In this environment, children make choices and develop positive dispositions towards active learning through themes, projects, and centers. Staff develops and shares expertise through participation in the Wilkinson Early Childhood Center-Maryville Professional Development School Partnership. Working together, staff, parents, and children create a community of life-long learners. We highly encourage anyone interested in Wilkinson to call the school and speak to Julie Wuch, Principal, and schedule a tour. You'll be impressed!

Ms. Yan is such a nurturing person. I still remember one day when I went to pick her up and opened the door; Ms. Yan was playing with dolls with her. Even though my daughter was the last one to stay there, she was still having fun. As she got older and moved to different classrooms, Kita, Lauren, and all the other teachers were so kind. The various themed activities were enriching, and they would also suggest activities to do at home, which was very helpful for us. Additionally, the management team, Shuai and Michele, were incredibly supportive. They communicated with us frequently and in advance. Their dedication and passion were evident. They genuinely cared about our child's health and development, which was reassuring for parents like us. I believe this is a perfect place if you are looking for full-time childcare with a well-organized system. If you are seeking a part-time spot, this may not be the best choice, as they only offer full-time options. I actually think this is beneficial because it ensures consistency. They also have an app system that provides almost real-time updates about your child, which we appreciated greatly. We had to leave because we were moving out of state, but until the last day, my daughter enjoyed her time there. We are truly grateful for the wonderful experience our daughter had and highly recommend this center to other families seeking a nurturing and reliable childcare environment.

My son has multiple food allergies, and the CNAP staff is able to modify every meal (when needed) to fit within his diet while still providing an incredibly full and nutritious meal. This factor alone means the world to me and is truly priceless for any family that deals with food allergies. I can tell you now that it's not the same. I dropped her off Monday morning at 8:45 to a playground with 100 kids. I didn't get to meet her camp counselor, and I was not able to enter the school due to Covid. I was okay with that, and nervous at the same time but again, I had attended there as a kid for several summers and my daughter has been in school since she was 2yo. She is friendly and delightful child so I thought I was making the right decision. By 9:30 am I was getting a call while at work. The director called me and told me that my daughter was having a rough morning, and trying to adjust. We picked her up early. The next day I called around 1pm and they said "they hadn't heard anything, so she must be fine." Thursday morning we dropped her off at 8:45, before my husband could make it to work, we were receiving a call saying that she was crying, and we need to pick her up right away and that this would HAVE to be her last day. The director told me that she didn't have the staff or the time to accommodate my child. They had 3 teachers to several 3 & 4 year olds. As a mother I was distraught. I couldn't believe that they had through my thrown my 4 yo out of summer camp. I wrote this to say that I am very disappointed in what this school has become. Also, I feel as if they didn't have the staff, why would they take on more than they could handle? So if your child needs special accommodations, or more attention than the average child. This is not the school because they clearly don't have the time. If I could have given zero stars I would have. I sent my daughter here with the intentions of her attending the school for kindergarten, but that won't happen. They made my child feel little, and they made me feel horrible as a parent.
