Best dentist in Flag? Best dentist in Arizona! Possibly anywhere. She's rightfully earned that title too, that's not just my opinion, she's been awarded Best Dentist in Flag and with good reason. Short & sweet, Stephanie is professional, she is compassionate, kind and most importantly she is HONEST. Highly recommend. Make your appointment, you won't regret it. The longer version: This isn't a review to get gain on my part in any shape or form. No shirt, movie tickets, no $50 discount off my bill. It's simply because she deserves it! I just feel bad it's taken me so long to leave one! In my 31 years she is the most trustworthy dentist I've ever rubbed shoulders with and I've had my fair share of run ins with less than desirable dentists who've recommended all the work just to take advantage of my insurance, and empty my wallet. I've known Stephanie for three years now and have seen her every 6 months. As for curbside appeal, it's a cute brick building in the heart of downtown Flagstaff. And the interior, quaint, sufficient and cozy. BUT the care that you will receive far surpasses the esthetics. We have since moved to the valley and had to be seen by a new dentist who was all those things, new, flashy and fancy-state of the art equipment that they didn't hesitate to brag about. But all of that did NOTHING for me. Because he was dishonest. After a regular cleaning he told me I needed 4 crowns (2 that needed to be done immediately) and that I have a handful of cavities. I was in shock considering I hadn't had a single cavity in the two years I'd been seeing Stephanie. I wasn't about to move forward without a second opinion. I called, set an apt & made the 3 hour trip to see Stephanie, she made her assessment before I gave her his recommendations (per her request) and sure enough all I need is to repair two fillings! "You don't know what you don't know" which is why I always dread having to find a new doctor, because of dentists like that it makes it really difficult to know what to believe and who you can trust. But I LOVE AND TRUST STEPHANIE. I am so grateful for her, her expertise and her practice. All personnel in her office have always treated me respectfully, have been kind and always professional. I'm in AZ for work, I live out of state, but had a piece of tooth break off over the weekend and the team made sure I got in first thing this morning and got me in and out with a new filling. Despite my past trauma/fear of dentists, my experience with Dr. Collins was amazing and 100% positive. My only reason for putting down 4 stars instead of 5 is because the office looks very run down and a little scary - patched walls, dirty paint/counters, and flickering fluorescent lights. I called for a cleaning. I was quoted over $300 for a new patient exam, cleaning, and x-ray. When I informed the front office person that I was x-rayed 6 months ago, she advised that in that case I could have my dental records sent over and that the cleaning would be $90. I signed a medical release form so my dental records could come over to their office and 3 weeks went by and no call. I stopped by today to follow up and was advised that they never sent for my records. Then I got at 5pm informing me that they now have mu records but that I would need to pay for a new patient exam anyway. Here's the thing. This office is being run by a friendly but highly disorganized front desk girl who is clearly out of her depth. She placed me on hold twice for ten minutes before realizing that she left me on hold before coming back on the phone to up-charge me for a visit. Not sure where all of these stellar reviews are coming from. These numbers do not add up at all. If the back office is run anything like the front, I would avoid this practitioner at any cost. Originally I went to see Dr. Stephanie Collins for a cleaning. I believe the hygienist's name is McKenna who cleaned my teeth. I have never had a hygienist like her before! I say that in a positive way. She explained everything she did in my mouth, and why she was doing it. For someone who cares about their mouth and also likes to learn, I was very satisfied with this experience. I did see the dentist that day, but chose not to write a review as I had not yet had any work done (fillings, etc.) The next week I went back to have 2 cavities filled. I had this ugly gray stain in between my two front teeth. I thought it was from drinking too much espresso and tea. Turns out it was a cavity! First I'd like to point out that Dr. Collins is good at giving shots. I assume no one likes shots, so this is worth mentioning. She filled my cavities, restoring my two front teeth to their original color.  You can't imagine how wonderful it was to see my teeth back to normal! I loved going to Dr Collins only to find out she merged with Dr Shanahan at Peak Dental last Fall. I already had a cleaning scheduled and went Monday excepting Dr Collins to do my oral exam. Imagine my surprise to find out that she had moved back to the Mid West without telling her patients she was leaving! I am always skeptical and so I always look for negatives. But this time I was delighted to find out that the positive reviews were totally valid. I am not young and I have been to a considerable number of dentists. Dr. Collins is a perfectionist. She doesn't accept anything less than the best. I was scheduled for a cleaning appointment on, Saturday, November 20th at 7:30 am. I did not receive and reminder call nor a reminder email for my appointment, like I had in the past. Arriving at the Beaver St. office, I saw a hand written sign on the door stating, sorry you didn't get our email, we have moved. What? I was not given any information about the new office location. I did call their office and was informed the office would be open at 8:30 am that day. I left a message but did not receive a call about this scheduled appointment. I have yet to receive a call back from this office. Though I personally liked Dr. Collins, she is responsible for the actions of her office staff. I am an established patient. A couple of months ago I had a dental emergency and was told that there were no openings for a couple of months. I went to another dentist to get my tooth fixed and got in the same day. I then scheduled a cleaning and was once again told that I couldn't get in for 2 1/2 months. I called this morning with a dental emergency and a night full of doing online research (so then I was paranoid). The staff was wonderful and accommodating and even though Dr. Collins was out of town they told me to come in right away, less than 45 min after I got off the phone I was in a chair getting looked at. The staff even went as far as to talk to my father on the phone to make sure they got my correct insurance information. (I'm a college student from CA) After x-rays and pictures they sent the photos to Dr. Collins and she put in a prescription for me, all while she was on vacation. I saw Dr Collins in July 2021 for an exam, next available appointment for a cleaning was January 2022! She joined Peaks Dentist but did not inform me she no longer took my Insurance! I showed up for my appointment and luckily overheard the receptionist say they only take Delta dental insurance! This whole team was wonderful. It all started with an extremely helpful and patient front desk staff, then transferred to Eliza--best and most thorough cleaning I've ever had, while still being very gentle and kind. Loved her. Then I went to get x-rays taken by Alicia--also very gentle, nice, and knowledgeable. Finally, I met Stephanie, who was truly lovely. It's such a joy when you pair a wonderful personality with a care provider...she struck me as a great human, and dentist!! I would recommend her to anyone. They are under renovations, which everyone apologized for multiple times, but really it was totally fine because you could feel the compassion from each member of the team--all I could have ever asked for. This was my first time going to a different dentist than my family dentist in Los Angeles, so I was a bit nervous. No need, this practice is perfect. HIGHLY recommend. They never respond to calls or emails in a timely fashion and make billing mistakes constantly. "Dr." Collins describes her practice as being minimally invasive, but recommended a veneer for the tiniest misplaced tooth, and then did a completely shotty job on it, leaving me with a yellow tooth that wasn't even sealed correctly. Two other dentists told me they never in a million years would have done this procedure. She wouldn't even give me a refund for the terrible job that I had to have redone by another dentist in town. I do not recommend ever going to this dentist. I was rescheduled because they were multiple hours behind schedule and then for my appointment that was rescheduled I did about 1 hour 20 minutes of waiting and was seen by the doctor for about 5-8 minutes in total where nothing was done. My teeth were not cleaned and I was fed up with waiting. On top of this, there aren't individual rooms for patients to be seen so you can hear all of the medical information of the patients being seen next to you. Also very limited parking. I am so thankful for the kind care I received at Dr. Collins' office! We were traveling through Flagstaff from Phoenix when my temporary crown popped out. I was left was a very sensitive molar and am so grateful to Dr. Collins for having Saturday hours and agreeing to see me and cement the crown back in place.
