They looked like lovely pictures of real, happy people - not overly-processed and cinematic. This is exactly the type of style I wanted for our micro-wedding. I generally dislike having my photo taken, and I'm notorious among my friends and family for refusing to be photographed during events. In spite of that, naturally I expected to endure many pictures on my wedding day. Even with my reservations, it all passed so quickly and easily! No feelings of overwhelm, exhaustion, frustration, or impatience. To begin with, we had a Zoom call to serve as our introduction. My distaste for being seen digitally extends to video chats, but Joanna immediately helped put me at ease. She is an expert in her field and specializes in people who are less comfortable with having their photo taken. She offered logistical support in planning our day, as well as the emotional support that comes with having an ally who can understand your position and work with you. She is so kind and personable, which is perfect for those of us who are a little more on the timid side. In terms of the day of, she was already at the venue well before the rest of us arrived. In between taking some get-ready shots, she even helped my family member get into a very tight-fitting dress. I genuinely don't know if we could have wrangled that zipper up without Joanna's help! After that, she gave a brief lesson to my person-of-honor, showing how to properly fluff out my dress's long train behind me. Additionally, I noticed she was skilled with remembering the names of our close family and wedding-party members. Joanna is so organized and swift with her camera. Despite beginning our ceremony a little later than scheduled, she managed to shoot every photo we wanted within our tight timeframe of just two hours - with a few minutes to spare, too! She's also great at giving clear direction to help improve positioning and posing. And it all flew by so fast. She had our photos ready with astonishing speed (just one week later!), and they were just as wonderful as I had hoped! These are exactly what I wished our wedding pictures would look like. We were only in Seattle a couple days and the photographer we initially hired could not make it at the last minute. We were disappointed, but she had recommended Rebecca as a replacement. Not only was Rebecca able to shoot us on a few hours notice, she was extremely flexible and accommodating (she drove through the horrible rush-hour traffic so I could get my shots in both Issaquah and Seattle). Fiance and I aren't very comfortable in front of the camera, put Rebecca immediately but us at ease. She's friendly, funny, and easy to work with. She has a great eye and helped set-up some great shots without making us look too posed or cheesy. She even went out of her way to lay on the ground and run into traffic in order to get a great shot. My biggest concern about my wedding was the pictures. I interviewed a photographer, and met briefly with others at the wedding show in Seattle. She was so much fun, and always had a smile on her face. Karen met my husband and I before the wedding to discuss what we wanted. She was thorough in her questions, and took the time to get to know us. She let us know what she needed from us (i.e. which pictures we thought were important, if it came down to a time crunch, what could we give up, etc.). The day of our wedding, my family wasn't helpful at all. People were complaining, and no one helped me. Karen jumped right in and helped coordinate things so I, as the bride, wasn't doing it all. She always had a smile on her face, but was able to get everyone moving (which is impressive because getting everyone together in my family can be like nailing jello to a tree). Ann was so nice, and having two photographers (FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!) was incredible because we had pictures of both my husband and I getting ready, and shots from the front and back of most parts of the wedding. While Karen was out shooting photos of us after the ceremony, Ann was getting shots of cocktail hour. When we were going through the photos, I was surprised to see so much had happened while we were gone - and we weren't away that long! Karen had the best price, the best package, and the best personality. If you need a photographer, she and Ann are the way to go. To say you won't be disappointed is an understatement.
