They are literally works of art made by a creative decorator who demands perfection and uses the finest ingredients. The cake is very dense, what our family considers to be the ultimate texture for a cake. The frosting is super thick and very sweet. You can't eat too much at one time, which is probably a good thing. We had hoped for some sort of confirmation email to let us know the cake was finished. So we showed up on faith alone hoping the cake was ready for our celebration, and there it was! Whew! I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had thumbprint cookies. I'm a huge fan of thumbprint cookies. There's something so nostalgic about them from when I was a child. What makes their thumbprint cookies the best is that they make them with caramel! Most bakeries don't sell thumbprint cookies and that ones that do, I've never seen them with caramel. These are little amazing nuggets of goodness! If their shortbread was a little more tender, it would probably be the #1 bakery item, I've ever had. The magic is in the caramel! It's so soft, gooey and perfectly sweet. It's the perfect pairing with the lightly sweetened shortbread. Since I had the cookies, I haven't stopped thinking about them. We found her from a wedding show and after tasting her cake, we kept thinking about it and went back for seconds and even thirds. That said it all! In fact, after meeting with Vicki and tasting all of the flavors, we couldn't narrow down our choices. We had 3 flavors of wedding cake and 2 flavors of groom's cake. For only a 90 person wedding reception!!! No regrets. Delicious. I wish I had some right now. The consultation with Vicki was a collaborative effort and just like what I had imagined, she literally took out a sketch pad and before our very eyes drew our wedding cake. It was better than I had pictured. On the wedding day, it was almost perfect. The only negative I would say is that there were a couple elements of the cake that didn't translate exactly as planned. The cake was supposed to have a corset back like my dress but it had buttons instead. Also there were going to be replicated brooches (also from my dress) but instead the ones on the cake were exactly like the ones from her shop and nothing like the ones I was asked to send her. To the guests, no one would know the difference. To me, it wasn't what we had discussed and was a bit disappointing. The taste, however, was still there.
