Like other's share here, Receptionist Deby, super shady, doing things behind Jon's back, he had no clue since he trusted her. There is often that bad apple in every workplace. Poor Jon, he could not accept the fact Deby abused her position mishandling the financials & selling insurance behind his back he was clueless about. Melissa, his amazing partner was forced to intervene & resolve so many shady outcomes caused by Deby Karma catches up, when she got sick, it wasn't surprising. Bad energy does catch up with bad people aka the cancer in other's day. It sucked to see such a good guy, trusting in someone who did not deserve his trust then hurt his business. All the great reviews were spot on! Dr. Ho has the passion and energy of someone who is just starting out -- combined with decades of wisdom and experience. I am very impressed with the way he has thoughtfully and comprehensively prepared his office to protect patients and himself from COVID-19 transmission. Everything is immaculate. It is obvious that many hours were spent preparing for his re-opening. These are difficult times, but I believe Dr. Ho has set the standard for how to adjust to the new reality. The short version is: I suggest you find better care elsewhere. * UPSELLING: If you feel like your being upsold you probably are. Is it appropriate to upsell a patient when they are already in the chair? I think not. Example: While being prepped for a crown, which means my tooth is being grinded down so it can fit a crown, he suggested he could save more tooth if he did a different type of covering instead of a crown. He recommended it while I was in the chair with apparatus in my mouth and I foolishly agreed, because I should have had more details. Then before I leave, I find out that the "suggested procedure" is $750 more around $2,200, versus $1,450 for a crown. A critical fact he did not mention while I was in the chair. He neglected to mention the significant price difference. *Now I am stuck, because he did not shape the tooth to fit the crown, he shaped it for this more expensive procedure. So if I wanted the crown I would have to be prepped again. Completely misleading upsell, while in a compromising position. I should have stopped seeing him right then and found a dentist to put in a crown. I reluctantly went through with the procedure, but knew I would not see him again. It was the final straw. * He should have explained the potential options and costs upfront; not during the preparation or after the preparation in my case. * Numerous times he has tried to upsell me in the chair (e.g. gels, fluoride) whatever. Do the math. If he can do that 50% of the time throughout the year it adds a significant amount to his bottom line. But is it necessary? * I am convinced the upsells and some procedures after speaking with two other dentists were not necessary. * Inappropriate comment: Per Amy B review: I am a guy and I was offended when he made a comment about women using the P word. Not appropriate. Amy B is right. Good ole boy mentality. It was inappropriate and not professional and another huge reason not to go back. * Also I found his office to be dirty, compared to other dental offices. * He did not seem to have a receptionist many times I went there. * In closing you can find a better dentist and or a more professional one. I had really bad anxiety when it came to the dentist. Literally the type of grown up who shook and cried uncontrollably in the chair. I only wish I discovered them sooner! My experience here has changed how I feel about going to the dentist. Everyone from Dr. Walley and his staff; Wendy, Khanba, Kathy, and Deanna, have been extraordinary! They have always been accommodating and supportive. Dr. Walley is very well educated and possesses both sympathy and empathy. They really do set the bar for excellence. Yesterday, they worked on saving a tooth of mine and I felt absolutely no pain. One of the reasons my anxiety developed is bc it takes me super long to get numb... something that no one prior has figured out. Dr. Walley took the time to figure it out and it has been a breeze since. I recommend them without a doubt! My dental journey with them has been miraculous! Growing up in SF, I rarely come back. That's 7am in the morning. Dr. Imagawa makes it in before me. And coming from deep in the East Bay. He's always been accommodating to me and I only have praise for Dr. Imagawa. Apparently, there are a some folks who complain about things of secondary concern like too small an office for them, equipment they feel is not modern enough, expect an unpersonable approach to patients, do not take the recommended advice, have gone thru multiple dentists, and decided to unfairly judge Dr. Imagawa. Someone who hops from one dentist to another, having cleaning done by both a month apart, and unhappy with both is really questionable in their judging of others. I have gone to a few dentists before and have found Dr. Imagawa to be the right dentist for me. A reason I've stayed with him throughout the years. He is a true professional and his focus is on the patient, the preventive care and actual needs, and the quality of his work. He doesn't push unnecessary extra's on others. Dr. Imagawa has his own private practice. He doesn't belong to any group practice in a shared office. He doesn't need the extra space. So he also pays a lot for leasing a clinic space for one. This is San Francisco and any occupiable space is expensive. Especially for a one-person practice. I've taken folks to group practices and, sometimes, they seem like cattle. Or sometimes get assigned to another dentist to subsitute, at the time, for whatever reason. Personally, I prefer a smaller office setting. To judge a good professional by his office space/setting is ridiculous. It's the background, experience, and quality of work that really counts. If someone prefers to select a dentist by the dazzles of new age offices and equipment, as their priority, then go ahead and see what you really get in the end. When it comes to billing, Dr. Imagawa is very reasonable. And all of my insurance claims have been, expeditiously, processed. I prefer a dentist, like Dr. Imagawa, who makes conversation. For me, I like it more personable. I feel more relaxed. And I like sharing our thoughts and our views from news, to politics, to sports, and more. As far as his equipment, it's perfectly sanitary. The area, dental tools, and equipment are clean and immaculate. I've never had problems or worries. Equipment does not need to be the most modern on the market. New equipment is not necessarily an improvement or better. A lot of the older equipment is actually better than some of the new. And continues to provide what newer equipment has eliminated or doesn't provide. Those who complain will never be satisfied. They'll really have regrets when they go to a dentist or group, who might seem acceptable when they find them, but a real nightmare when it comes down to the actual dental care. There's always those types out there and will slam the good name of a great dentist. I have always had a high regard and respect for Dr. Imagawa. And I've been to dentists, not even close, to the focus and care Dr. Imagawa has provided me with. For myself, Dr. Imagawa has provided general cleaning, extractions, night guards for my grinding of my teeth while asleep, gum scaling and planing, more. I followed his instructions, before and after these procedures, and had no problems at all. I feared the gum scaling and planing, from stories folks experienced with other dentists. When mine was done, there was no pain during or after the procedure. Every time I walk out of Dr. Imagawa's office, I feel assured of a detailed session. A feeling, as always, of being well-cared for by the best. I know I wouldn't have some of my teeth if I didn't go to Dr. Imagawa throughout the years. I, personally, have the trust and confidence in Dr. Imagawa; and the utmost respect for him. I will continue to go to Dr. Imagawa because it's all about providing the patient with the best dental care. I can attest to that myself. Over the years, we've developed a wonderful rapport and I appreciate his personable character. Some folks have these embedded fears about dentists. He didn't even give me Novocain and went straight to drilling my tooth, I screamed in pain, he then gave me an injection of Novocain, and broke the needle while doing so. Also had sour chemicals dripping down my throat. He poured some resin and filled my tooth. I was in pain for two days after his work. Over phone he said he accepted Delta Dental and turns out he's not contracted with them Still in pain, I finally saw my regular dentist who took an X-ray and said I needed a root canal. Horrible dentist and will take to court for malpractice and to pay for root canal or dental implant if he messed up my tooth structure. A complete crook who did a botched job.
