First, want to commend Dr. Rexan on pointing to a problem on an x-ray and referring me to an excellent endodontist for a (quick and painless) root canal. This prevented bone loss and I'm really happy I did this. Following that, Dr. Rexan replaced several old amalgam fillings as well as closed the root canal entrance. Dr. Rexan has been a wonderful dentist over the past eight years. She is ethical and genuinely recommends the best options for her clients, full stop. Examples: *I was recommended a root canal, but Dr. Rexan suggested a new approach to filling that avoided it due to a new alternative she learned in continuing education. While it would have been more lucrative to everyone if I had a root canal, this new filling saved my tooth. And it's still great a couple years later! *I did Invisalign through Dr. Rexan, and the investment from Union Fillmore vs. my other friends' providers were night and day. Dr. Rexan provided munchies and encouraged me to use them every visit. While my friends' dentists relied on Zoom visits, Dr. Rexan checked my bites in person and addressed all my questions. The best dental experience I've had. Everything from booking an appointment to the actual cleaning was great. The front desk receptionist and Dr. Paul were so kind! They are transparent and won't try to make you do other procedures just for $. They also check your insurance before your appointment to verify that it's in network so you don't have surprise bills. My face is throbbing. I want it to fall off like the last apple on a tree so it will stop. Unfortunately, they tell me I need my head or else the rest of me won't function. I haven't even gone to Dr Rexan yet, but I will say this (and update my review after my appointment with her next week) that she is kind and attentive over the phone. And that says a lot about a person!! Especially a dentist. I have been battling a toothache for days and after making an appointment for next week with her, I couldn't take it anymore. So I called her office, and discovered they aren't open on Fridays! AHHHHHHH. (minus 1 star). BUT, I called her emergency cell line and she picked up right away and listened to me as I whimpered about my pain to her. She offered right away to see me for an exam tomorrow to assess what was going on in the bacterial pool that is a human's mouth. (+ 1 star). So, my brief, and current review is for the fact that Dr.Rexan wasn't annoyed I called her early on her day off. Instead, she treated me like I was an old patient and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to expire between tomorrow and my appointment next week. 5 stars for that. read more

Dr. Rexan is great, attentive, patient, detail oriented. I used to go to a large dentist office and felt like I was part of an assembly line and the dentist always would look at my teeth and say everything is fine, but I wondered if he just wanted to focus on patients with higher return, my fillings were black around the edges, I don't need a degree to understand that's not good. I had a few small cavities done as a teenager and they were getting black around the edges, every time I asked he would say it was fine. I went to Dr. Rexan and she said we needed to redo them because they were leaking. Finally my instincts were reaffirmed. So I said lets do them all, no need for multiple appt. She redid all the fillings at one time and they look great and no more black. She was very careful and really made sure each one was done right. She never pushes products or services yet genuinely cares about your teeth. I also like the fact that it's a small office and really takes care of its patients. read more

I liked Dr. Rexan but I had concerns about the office operations. I was not told that Dr. Rexan was out sick, so I got my cleaning but no exam. Also some patients' paper folders were just lying around where I could see the names of the patients, which is a huge no-no. The receptionist was supposed to contact my insurance to ask about a deep clean and never did. Also the hygenist was sloppy, got water and toothpaste all over my face and kept making 'yuck' comments about my staining...I knew it was stained, that's why I'm there! This was strange to me because she was very competent and nice the prior time I was there. I might be able to give the place a try again but I was just so disturbed about the private medical info lying around I just can't do it. read more

Dr. Rexan and her team made me feel so welcomed from scheduling to walking in and getting seen right away. I called in that day due to horrible pain on the right side of my mouth and Samantha (who is absolutely awesome) listened to me and offered to get me in the same day. When I got there Dr. Rexan brought me to her chair and took X-Rays, she was very gentle and informative of what she was looking for. Of course she found the source of my pain and prescribed me antibiotics. The office is clean and has a beautiful view of SF while sitting in her chair. The service they provided on my teeth was even better. I liked them so much because I felt relaxed and stress free. They are also patient with their patients . They were very gentle with my teeth.. I moved into the city about a year and a half ago and looked on Yelp and found her. She just worked on two veneers for me and I couldn't be happier! I have now had two appointments with Dr. Rexan and the staff at Union Fillmore Dental, the first a regular ol' checkup and then the biggie, a trifecta of fillings all on the same day. While three fillings might not be how I'd like to spend every Friday afternoon, this was about as painless - literally - as it could be. The staff applying the tooth numbing stuff (I assume that's the technical term) was very patient with me as I waited to make sure everything was as numb as could be before the action began. Dr. Rexan was very thorough in her explanations of what was about to happen, how long each part would take, and what I was going to feel (basically, I wouldn't feel a darn thing). Dr. Rexan also called that Friday night, several hours after the fillings, to check-up on me, which was nice. Oh, and while you're in the dentist chair there is some great Marina people watching from the Union/Fillmore intersection! read more

I am so happy I found Dr. Rexan. I had no idea who to go to after moving to SF a year ago and ended going with her because her office is around the corner from my house. She is a totally sweet person with a nice family-feeling practice. (In fact her husband sometimes works the front desk!) I have to admit I have a tremendous fear of the dentist because of hyper-sensitive teeth. I've had so many bad experiences. Not only does Dr. Rexan put me at ease with her professionalism, she's just so nice that you know she truly cares about your comfort. Small touches, like a heated neck wrap and aromatherapy, show that she wants patients to feel at ease. In addition to regular dental services I also got Invisaligners through Dr. Rexan and it's all been great. (And my teeth look good!) Fair prices, a super friendly staff, calm ambiance, and quality professional dental service. I went to Union Fillmore Dental for Invisalign and cosmetic dentistry (veneers and teeth whitening) as well as regular check-ups with cleanings. After Invisalign my teeth look great! They are perfectly straight and haven't moved even after having Invisaling removed for over 8 months! I also really like their emphasis on the holistic approach. I have a lot of receding areas in my gum line where nerves are exposed and I have anxiety when it comes to dental work. But Miss Ruth has a light and sensitive hand and gets my teeth gleaming.
