You will definitely feel at home here. Dr. Penn & Dr. Nubla-Penn are awesome and so is JD and Diane at the front desk.

Although to tell you the truth, I could have easily fallen asleep in that chair-one of the most comfortable chairs on the planet, I am sure. I have been a patient since 2008. I have moved around the country a lot for work - 9 states- and Dr. Benjamin and her team are the best that I have found in the U.S. I left the Bay Area in 2013 but Dr. Benjamin allowed me to continue to be a patient and I've traveled back twice a year for dental care except during Covid. I know that there are a lot of great people-and dentists- out there but Marina Tooth Fairy is right for me. I trust Dr. Benjamin. If you are looking for a wonderful team that you can trust and a place where you will feel comfortable, I strongly recommend making an appointment. I am confident that you won't want to go anywhere else once you have been there.

Nightmare. Run. Wished I never ever set foot in here. Quality of work beyond cleaning is on the…read morelevel I'd expect from a dental school trainee in those cheap TV ads. Out of like 25 Yelp reviews I've posted, nearly all are positive, with this being the absolute worst by 100 miles. And I've been dealing with implants, crowns etc my whole life. But it took Marina THREE separate times to place crowns the same shape as my other teeth. See their attempt #1 below. Yes, they built and placed those two fangs in the back. How the hell does a dental office let me leave looking like Dracula with misplaced fangs, let alone even place something like that in someone's mouth? See pic. They then had to remove them to put temporary's on again. Fast forward to gaslight city. For example, with this screw up, I was told by their COO (her husband) that 'I should have looked in the mirror after they were placed. Who doesn't look in the mirror?' Good guy, huh? My bad for trusting you knew what you were doing. Toal lack of any accountability. Tons of excuses like my bite, other crowns were placed by other dentists...what?? That's an obstacle??? NEXT, within hours of the final crown placement, a 'COINCIDENTAL' break of a healthy, existing, adjacent crown (cracked clean off) occurred, leaving me with a missing front tooth, costing me $6K to repair. And Marina took ZERO accountability for any part, claimed it was entirely coincidental and to get a second opinion. I did for $400 out of pocket, but then Dr. Benjamin refused to call me back to discuss what I had learned. Lastly, they even over-billed me by $800 for the balance of the procedure, claiming they have no record of two out of three payments they charged me even though they are reflected my credit card statement which I shared!!! They refuse to correct the balance saying their bill is correct (hello, my credit card statement says otherwise). And their response to their inaccurate billing; they threatened me by saying pay in full within 30 days or collections will come after me. WTF????? They ignore my requests to correct their billing even though I showed them the credit card charges. Nothing in this review is mis-information, exaggeration or has a 'two sides to every story' circumstance. They will blame it all on my bite or say they have no record of me. I naively I thought this was an ethical, sophisticated operation. If you need anything beyond a cleaning, well, I think my experience speaks for itself. And now I am expected to pay an extra $800 they can't find, no matter what proof I have via my cc statement....total nightmare and I am not even sure what to do since no one has ever over billed me intentionally, but ignore the real balance. Slimy, sleazy greedy organization.

Summary: Two…read moreunsuccessful attempts to make one crown. Traumatization and damage to the underlying tooth structure. Two visits to another prosthodontist to prove to Dr. Postesta-Knoll that both crowns were defective. Partial refund. The details of my entire experience are as follows: I saw Dr. Potesta-Knoll in May of 2025 and she made a new crown for me. After I left her office I had pain and discomfort to the extent that I was unable to chew on that side and had a lot of sensitivity with respect to hot and cold. I mistakenly assumed that this would go away quickly and a few days later I left for three months out of the country Unfortunately I had to endure this pain and discomfort for over three months. When I got back in August the discomfort had finally abated, but I noticed there was a lot of space between the new crown and the adjacent tooth and that food was gathering there in a way it hadn't prior to the new crown. I made an appointment with Dr. Potesta-Knoll to express my concern about the excessive amount of space between the two teeth. At this second appointment I don't know what she did other than remove some material from the tooth. When I got home I realized that it made no sense that taking off material could close the gap between the new crown and the adjacent tooth. At this point I was disconcerted enough that I made an appointment with a very experienced and highly regarded prosthodontist at 450 Sutter Street. During my first appointment he observed that not only was the crown too far apart from the adjacent tooth, there was also a ledge on the crown that made the interface between the crown and gum irregular. He sent me an email with these observations and I took it to Dr. Potesta-Knoll. She didn't seem particularly happy when she read it, but she redid the crown. Before she did the second crown I confirmed with her his observations about the "ledge" and excessive distance between the crown and the adjacent tooth, as I wanted to make sure both problems were resolved when she did re-did the crown that day. After the numbing medication wore off it felt to me that the new crown was still too far away from the adjacent tooth. I made a second appointment with the other prosthodontist and he observed that there was no longer a ledge on the crown, but that the distance between the new crown and adjacent tooth was still too much. I then forwarded his email to me about the second crown still being too far from the adjacent tooth to Dr. Potesta-Knoll's office. I received the following response from their office, "Wow, even after the second crown he feels the contact is open. It was closed when you left our office per Dr. Potesta." Not surprisingly I found the statement absurd. I'm clearly not a dentist, but don't see any way how the crown could've magically moved after I left their office. At this point I realized that there was no way I was going to trust her to do the crown properly a third time and so I sent an email requesting a refund. They requested that I send yet another narrative from the other prosthodontist stating the ongoing problem with the distance between the crown and the adjacent tooth. I did this and received an email saying they would be issuing me a refund. The good news is that I got a refund ($2,300). The bad news is that I was originally charged $3,135 for the one visit where she did the first crown. I sent them yet another email politely inquiring why I only received $2,300 and they said the $835 ($3,135-$2,300) was for an exam, a "core buildup" and x-rays. I sent them another email saying I would be happy to pay for the x-rays, but felt that it was unfair to be charged for an exam and "core buildup" when in fact I received absolutely no benefit whatsoever from my entire interaction with Dr. Potesta-Knoll. Not only did I not have any benefit from anything with the exception of the x-rays, but had to endure three months of discomfort following her doing the first crown because she traumatized the underlying tooth structure. Additionally I had the added cost and inconvenience of seeing the other prosthodontist three times to deal with this dental nightmare. Receiving a partial refund is a little like taking your car to have it repaired and not only it not being repaired properly, but the shop also damaging it. In order to get a refund they require two more emails from another shop detailing what was wrong (as well as my having to pay the other shop). When they do get the second email they deduct money for their "evaluation" and for work that provided absolutely no benefit.
