If you love colored gemstones, this is the place to check out. From what they told me, they also offer custom designs and will buy or consign jewelry. This place is awesome! My fiance bought an engagement ring from some store in New York and dealt entirely through the phone. The ring came with GIA papers and everything, but I was just paranoid so we looked for a place that can check it out for us. We called S.H.Silver Co. and the lady said she would do it for free! we showed up, she matched the ring to the GIA paper and said it was legit, and she even cleaned it for me! I had a silver necklace made for me in Mexico and thereafter the claps broke off and I found myself on www.google.com looking for a silver jewelry store/specialist near by to see about getting it fixed. My fiance came here when he was picking out an engagement ring for me. They are an "upstairs" jeweler so they don't have a store front. (You need to contact them for an appointment). Their showroom feels more like an elegant living room where you can just relax. Their personal service is impeccable, and not pushy. They have unique beautiful pieces that you can't find anywhere-most of them estate. Because they do not have the overhead of a normal jewelry store they can get you Tiffany quality gems at 20-30% less. They have designers that can create a custom piece for you too. I was extremely disappointed by my experience. I had visited their boutique at the Rosewood Hotel in Menlo Park and was charmed by the woman working there. She was extremely personable. I thought I should visit the larger store so I'd be able to see more of a selection. I met with Timothy and my experience was the exact opposite. He was very unpleasant and didn't even smile when he came in. I have bought high end jewelry in the past and have never encountered such bad customer service. I was looking for something unique for my wedding band, so my fiance and I made an appointment with Inga. I explained what I was looking for over the phone, and the selections she brought out showed she was really listening to the style I wanted (which was the opposite of what we experienced at Tiffanys!) It took a few tries to get the sizing right, and while I was fine having rings just a bit too loose and exchanging them later (since the wedding was only two weeks away), she rushed the shipping (without me even asking) so the right size arrived just in time for the wedding. The customer service was fantastic, and after getting the rings appraised I can also say the quality of the jewelry is superb. Husband bought my engagement ring and band here. Worked with Inga on design. She worked with his budget and I swear my engagement ring looks like it's worth 3x as much! I love it! I had to go back to resize my ring - I think my husband thought my shoe size was my ring size, LOL. It's good to call ahead so they know when to expect you. Super fast turnaround time and great service. Also went back a 2nd time because I lost a small stone in the "halo" part of the setting- probably at work, from changing gloves so much. They replaced my stone, had to reinforce a few prongs, gave it to me all shiny and new no charge. Still a large rock in a dainty setting, which is just my style. Inga is great, very personable. I could never go back to a mall jeweler after getting such top notch treatment and valuable service here. I think it would be best to have an idea of what you want before coming- so shop around, then make an appt here. The showroom is small and elegant but I believe they can order or make whatever you want. I can't wait to come back again! read more
