Philly Cheesesteak ... hubs was hungry and excited!

On our way back to Auburn, Al from Lake Toxaway NC, we stopped here for a late breakfast/ early lunch. What a great spot! We feel lucky to have come across this restaurant and cute downtown area. There was something for everyone... toddler had a grilled cheese and chips, picky 6 year old had just fries, preteen had a hot dog and chips, husband had a Philly cheesesteak and they were able to accommodate my Whole30 diet by leaving the bread and cheese out of my order and adding extra veggies. It was all delicious! Bonus is they had toys for the kids to play with while we waited in our food. Amazing service, clean, delicious... def stop here!

Cheese steak hoggie, fries and chips! Sweet tea on point.

Stopped during our stay at an AirBNB treehouse up the way. This place hit the spot! Everything was made to order, extremely fresh - a cute dining area with board games. Extremely kind staff, only thing is I wish they had a sort of Worcestershire sauce - but they did offer a few other options (:

Have had all the famous cheesesteaks in Philadelphia and Stephs Steaks made me feel like I was in S Philly. I will be going here every time the craving hits me. If you like cheesesteak you have to try this place!

Fresh and good. I have only eaten the cheesesteaks, but always good. I believe they use 8" rolls, but tasty and always good.

High ceiling, lots of wood paneling, very vintage while still feeling up to date. The menu includes burgers, deli-style hoagies, and salads, but let's be honest: the cheesesteak is why you showed up--and it's good enough to keep you coming back. There's some real history behind the name. Albert "Inky" Harris ran the first cheesesteak and hoagie shop in Philadelphia back in the 1940s, and the current grandchildren owners carry that legacy forward. Whether every detail has been perfectly preserved or lovingly remembered, one thing is certain: they source their white American cheese from Philly, and the result feels authentic. And that makes all the difference. The fresh-baked Liscio's rolls are huge--soft and warm on the inside, with a firm, crusty on the outside. Like me... on a good day. Inside, finely chopped steak, peppers, onions, and that perfectly melted white American cheese are blended together, so every bite delivers a balanced, satisfying hit of flavor. No "all onions in one bite, no meat in the next" surprises--just consistent harmony. And the star of the show? Certified Angus ribeye. No shortcuts. No skimping. No regrets. Sandwiches come in 7", 12", or the "I wish I was still in college" 18" option--because sometimes restraint is overrated. My wife and I split the Colossal. The meals are served on trendy paper-toppped metsl trays. The staff and management go out of their way to make you feel welcome and walk you through all the options. Sides round out the experience with plenty of choices: fries, tater tots, onion rings, pasta salad, fried mushrooms (hello, childhood), and a standout option--house-made chips, sliced and fried fresh and disappearing faster than your willpower. Bottom line: If you're craving a true Philly-style cheesesteak without leaving the Upstate, Inky's is absolutely worth the stop. Just don't plan on eating light... or sharing. The meat, cheese and onions are mixed perfectly. They skimp a little bit on the meat in my opinion and it's pretty pricey if you're not filling the cheesesteak to the brim. Overall, very tasty

When we first walked in, the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't very crowded. Sometimes that can be a red flag--but in this case, it turned out to be a hidden advantage. The food came out fast, fresh, and piping hot. From the first bite, I knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere has more of an old-school, no-frills vibe. It's not flashy or over-the-top, which actually made the experience better. I walked in with neutral expectations--not expecting anything extraordinary, but not expecting anything bad either. What I got completely exceeded that middle-ground mindset. Their menu offers a wide variety of options, but I went with something classic and comforting: a Philly cheesesteak (no mushrooms), upgraded with Cheese Whiz, along with sweet chili chicken wings and a side of onion rings. Let's start with the wings. The sweet chili sauce was perfectly balanced--just the right touch of heat paired with a subtle sweetness. Even fully sauced, the wings maintained their crispiness, which is not easy to do. If I had to critique anything, I'd say the blue cheese could be upgraded--but that's a minor note in what was otherwise a near-perfect execution. The Philly cheesesteak was equally impressive. The bread was soft yet sturdy, packed generously with meat, cheese, and vegetables from edge to edge. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. The onion rings were exactly how I like them--thin, crispy, well-seasoned, and fried to a perfect golden crunch. Everything from the food to the drinks, the atmosphere, and the customer service was on point. The only thing I passed on was dessert. The cookies didn't look as fresh as I would've liked, so I decided to skip it this time. That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise top-tier experience. Whether you're looking for a dine-in lunch, dinner, takeout, or delivery, South of Philly absolutely delivers. I genuinely don't think this place gets the attention it deserves. It's a hidden gem, and I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. If the staff has recommendations next time, I'm all in--I'll be there to try them. Highly recommended.

I went in the Farmer's Market first. It looks like an old barn. There were lots and lots of homemade choices- "canned" soup bases, fruits, vegetables, salsas, jams, flavored oils to name a few. There were also fresh fruits, nuts, honey, vegetables, dairy products and cakes. There are four areas you can eat. The main "restaurant" is small with only a few tables. Evidently it's a favorite of older local gentlemen to gather for an early breakfast. There is also the "Pig Sty," "The Chicken Coop" and the farmer's market area. Some of these can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress accordingly. The farmer's market area is heated by a wood stove. The staff here are so friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. The food was good ole country food. The hubby and I each ordered the breakfast plate. I had coffee with my choice of several flavored creamers. If you pay in cash you get a discount. If you are in the area you should check it out. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu. Plan to stay a few extra minutes and look around and support local farmers. We brought home some boiled peanuts. Fun experience and good breakfast.
