Marge was my consultant for my appointment on August 30th. She was totally excellent- sweet, detail oriented and quick to offer style suggestions that were well within and under budget. I could not recommend her services more. 1000/10. I was a little disappointed that Step 'n Out didn't have as big of an array of inclusive sizing options as I was hoping- at least not in the styles I looked at. I'm a fairly average street size 14- around Bridal 20 and found this shop less options that were size inclusive. Especially for Billings MT- which caters to a variety of sizes of Brides. I understand that bridal offers different sizes, but the experience of being well & tightly fitted into potential dress with clamps vs. falling out of a dress with straps that are barely hanging onto me because it's too small did affect my comfort, experience and desire to make a purchase at this shop. I had a particular dress in mind, I mentioned in my email re: wanting to sample it and included my street size and they insisted it was available, but upon arrival it was a much smaller and I didn't get the best opportunity to see how it would fit had it been closer to my size or even larger than my size. My try on experience was affected by the lack of disclosing the small sample sizing, as well as the smaller selection available. read more

I went to this business a couple of years ago to find a wedding dress with my mom. The sales people made me feel horrible. I am not a size 2, but they made me feel like the biggest human being on earth and that I was not at all worth their time. I left after letting the sales person talk down to me for 5 minutes and will never go back. I have also had numerous friends and family who still live in Billings have horrible service from this business. Dresses and tuxes ordered months in advance, delivered only days before the event leading to huge last minute alerations cost. Everyone seems to have a "well it's not my problem" attitude. I recently started my wedding dress shopping adventure and was so delighted with the experience I had! All of the sales girls were not only knowledgable about their inventory but really let me explore and helped guide me into the perfect dress. I even had a minor freak out and needed to try on a few more dresses to be sure I had picked the right one. Anna was a pro at helping me understand what my fears were and let me know that she would be willing to spend all day with me to help me find the perfect dress for me. I live in New Orleans, but am getting married in my home state of MT, so I went to Step'n Out to look for dresses. I had THE BEST experience I've ever had in a bridal store. I have tried on dresses in multiple stores in New Orleans (where I live) and nothing compared to the service I got at Step'n Out. Marge was my consultant and she was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about every dress and every little add-on and option with the dresses. She answered every question I had. Their variety and number of dresses is really surprising. I couldn't get through the pile I made in the hour and a half I was there and am waiting to go back! I had food poisoning when I went (I was on vacation in MT visiting my family and my fiancé's family, so I had to go even though I was sick) and everyone was so accommodating and understanding when I had to take frequent breaks and had to drink tons of water. The rest of the staff were also so great. Everyone at Step'n Out made me feel comfortable, beautiful, and so excited about my future wedding! I can't wait to go back! read more

The service I received was stellar! The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and professional. What hit me the most was even after I bought my dress, due to the craziness that is wedding planning, I had to go back often- usually right before closing time and my attendant Jessica was amazing every time. She was super patient, fun to talk to and bent over backwards to help me with things. She was VERY helpful as I navigated through many stressful decisions. She made the whole experience amazing. I would recommend Step'n Out to anyone looking for a beautiful and affordable wedding dress! While looking for wedding dresses I visited many different boutique's (in Billings, Butte and Bozeman), but my best experience by far was at Step'n Out. Marge was my consultant the first couple times I tried on dresses, and I also had assistance from other consultants while I was in the process of deciding on my dress. They were all extremely knowledgeable, fun, enthusiastic and helpful, and helped me to pick out the perfect dress!! I could not believe the huge selection of dresses available at this store. I feel like there is something for everyone. There were so many beautiful dresses that it was hard to choose, but I am so thankful that I had this wonderful experience, and very happy with the dress I chose. I bought my first wedding dress here 10 years ago, and had a terrible experience so was hesitant to return. However, they initially were very accommodating and helpful. However, I went to try on my dress over the weekend and when I reported that I would not be doing my alterations at their store, I immediately began receiving poor service. There was not room for me and my friends at the appointment time so we waited until there was, which was met with disdain. I tried on multiple accessory pieces - which are SO overpriced (I am not spending the same on a belt and headpiece as I did my dress) - but there were no discounts available because I paid for the entirety of my dress when I first tried it on. I'm grateful my friends made this a positive experience because the consultant certainly did not. read more

On Friday I went in to Step'n Out for a tux, and they sized me up and showed me a white jacket. Before I left I asked if I could have a black jacket instead, to which they said yes. TWIRP was the next day, so I came in and instead of giving me time to try everything on they hurried me out of the store because they were closing in 10 minutes, so they only let me try on the pants. I ran into the dressing room and hastily put the pants on, hung them back up and I was on my way. It wasn't until I returned home that I realized they gave me a white tux instead of a black one, and because of this I had to wear only the black undershirt to TWIRP. I came back in today and asked for a refund or some kind of compensation and they instantly turned me down. The woman whom I had asked for a black tux from told me that she never said she could give me black tux, which was a blatant lie, as my girlfriend clearly heard me ask her for one and heard her respond with a yes. I paid $80 for an all black tux, but instead I got black pants and a white jacket. So, naturally, I was angry because they didn't even offer me any compensation whatsoever, and especially because I had been lied to. Twice. Once when I was told they could get me a black jacket, and another time when the lady told me she never said that. I would never recommend anyone to do business with these people, because they are liars and do not treat their customers well and they do not conduct business professionally. I am thoroughly disappointed with the way I have been treated and my complete waste of $80. read more

This is a lovely bridal and prom boutique. I drove there from Great Falls to try on specific bridesmaid dresses for a wedding I'll be in that's in Pennsylvania. This was the closest store to carry this dress line. I first communicated with the store on their online "contact us" portal, and they were very helpful with providing info before I drove all the way to Billings. They had a variety of sizes available to try on. The staff members were very helpful and friendly! Because I had a very specific goal and knew just what dresses I needed to try, we were able to run through everything pretty quickly. It looked like they had a pretty big selection of wedding gowns and there were a few girls there at the same time who tried on some beautiful prom-style dresses. read more

Horrible business philosophy! fiance just picked up her dress and it was the wrong size (initially ordered one size too big, and lady REFUSED to change the order because she thought she was right). They told us it wasn't their problem and they reccommended a seamstress. Beadwork was also broken on arrival. They also said it wasn't their problem and that the seamstress will fix that too. Seamstress is going to cost us over $300 just to fix the dress when it should have came in perfect condition. I don't know of any business practices that give the customer faulty product and not offer to fix it or make it right read more

This place is top notch. The sales associates are incredible. During my appointment, our sales associate really listened to the feedback I was giving about the dresses I was trying and pulled amazing samples for me to try on. She stayed within my budget and let me know if a dress was out of my budget and didn't pressure me to try it on if I didn't want to. I brought a larger group with me and our associate was more than accommodating. The staff here are kind, courteous and customer service minded. I ended up not being able to decide right then and there during my appointment and I didn't feel rushed or pressured to choose or buy one that day. I recommend making an appointment, it just makes things easier. I ended up going back the next day and purchased my dress. They were very specific and up front about the sizing, receiving/shipping process as I live out of state and assured me nothing will be done until I give me consent over the phone when the dress arrives.
