Dr. Lee and Carly Matthews, his PA, explained every detail of what could happen in surgery, good and bad, in a way where I didn't feel I needed to pull out a medical dictionary. He reiterated at the pre-op appointment and on the day of surgery exactly what he would be removing and re-implanting during the procedure from start to finish and I knew I was in good hands which is always a plus before you entrust a surgeon to make that first cut. I received first rate care from everyone I interacted with starting on the day of the initial consultation at his office as well as with the coordinator who scheduled the surgery, the nurses and Anesthetists on the day of the procedure at the River's Edge 1-Day Surgery Center and then back at the office for post-op care. My husband is in the medical field and looks for faults with providers and their staff but couldn't find any flaws with Dr. Lee and his team. It's been 3 weeks since surgery and I couldn't be happier with the end results as compared to what I had prior to surgery. I had a terrible experience with one of them, he basically made reconstruction sound like no big deal, no need for physical therapy and showed me tear drop shaped implants. I decided to get a second opinion on this "too good to be true" reconstruction. I landed in Dr Kalnoki's office, SHE IS THE BEST! Not only did she spend 2 hours with me at my consult, she explained why you need therapy and what shape implants (not the tear drops because they'll flip and you'll have awkward boobs), all about risks and benefits and how to choose whats best for you, as an INDIVIDUAL. She's done a fellowship and has immense knowledge. I woke up from my mastectomy with reconstruction happy as a clam! My breasts look almost identical to before they were removed and redone! Dr K monitored me closely and her office staff, Tammy answers all my questions....Holly helps you schedule and Kris knows about insurance. They are wonderful. Being a gym/swim gorilla they kept me on a tight leash and didn't sugar coat anything. More offices need to be like that! I am going in for some fat-grafting procedures to make sure my breasts are even closer to normal. Dr K takes your own fat and injects it where you have divots and dimples. She has a very keen eye. What a wonderful experience…read more I've had what I'd describe as a subtle raised sun spot (semi wart) on my chest for many years, not sure exactly how long. Since it was benign and not too large like skin tags/warts typically are, I didn't give it much thought. But finally decided to see if it could be removed without scarring. Looked online and there weren't many places that focus on that type of procedures with a lot of reviews, but ultimately choose Dr. Bartels, because there were a couple reviews on Google (all 5 star), conveniently located, and good website/contact form. Reached out asking for details and heard back with answers to my initial questions as well as scheduling an appointment. They noted, if the consultation was successful they can do the procedure at the same time, which I opted for. It's located at a complex of offices that can be a little confusing but they provided detailed instructions prior so didn't run into any issues. Arrived and was greeted right away. Completed the paper work, and then immediately was greeted by Dr. Bartel and his registered nurse Ms. Dozois. Like the coordinator Katherine, they were all very friendly and welcoming. Answered some initial questions with Ms. Dozois and then was quickly seen by Dr. Bartels. who confirmed I was good candidate, and after light numbing agent started the procedure. The initial shot was virtually painless, and due to the location felt nothing doing the procedure which was done in under 10 minutes. While I wasn't nervous at all, I didn't expect it to be so easy, which was a great surprise. The doctor and staff all have a great bed side manor and we chatted after about post procedure steps including an ointment included and scheduling a followup appointment. The process of course is not cheap, especially if you have multiple items needing to be removed, but you get what you pay for, and certainly a great value compared to attempting home remedies or from less experienced professionals. I'll try to remember to post a follow up on the results in a couple months but over confident it will turn out great, and while I can't comment from experience on any of the other services offered, if it's anything like the service I received, then I imagine they will go splendidly as well. Highly recommended and may take a look at a few of their other services down the road. I developed keloid scars under both breasts. Still, he did not inform me what I had or how to help myself. He repeatedly advised massaging the area with vitamin E. Keloid scarring is irritating and erythematous. The scars are raised and thick. I would not recommend this doctor. He does not take the time to evaluate each patient properly, and his communication skills are inadequate. I waited to write this to see if my scars would heal over time, and they have not. Working with him was the worst decision I have made in the field of plastic surgery. There is more, as he did three procedures, but I will not go on. I wasted my money and am permanently scarred. The lack of communication left me feeling empty, uncared for, and cheated. Please! Find someone who listens, asks about your health condition and previous procedures, gives you the facts, and treats you like an individual with unique concerns. 12/31/25.
