First time staying here. Loved that there were ample things to do for my wife and I. The adult pool access was great for chill pool days. The private beach access is awesome and easy to get to. You can rent beach chairs and an umbrella if you want. We did one day and it was nice to have the shade. Loved that each floor has your own little coffee and water station. I used that alot to make tea for my wife and fill up on sparkling water. Valet team at the resort is great and super hard working. Always there to make sure we are taken care of. One of the valet guys told us to go to Boshamps for dinner and it was the best recommendation we could have asked for. read more

Our experience at Henderson Beach Resort was nothing short of disappointing. This resort is absolutely not worth the money, and doesn't even closely resemble the photos posted online. The service was absolutely terrible and the beach access/view was complete bait & switch. First -- let's start with the service. Absolutely dreadful. Everyone here had such a terrible attitude, it was genuinely shocking how arrogant and snooty everyone was. I was yelled at for walking by the pool at 10:23pm when coming back from the beach -- "POOL CLOSES AT 10PM CAN'T BE OUT HERE" -- I'm aware!! This is the only way back from the beach!! Everyone had a total attitude and the woman we told when checking out, Brooklyn, could care less and was smirking. Didn't offer any money back, a manager to talk to us, or ANYTHING!! We spent over $3K on this vacation and not one person seemed to care if our experience was good. We were kept up by a very loud Wedding Reception with rap music that continued well after 11pm. The room wasn't horrible but had a musty odor and almost everything was not in working condition. The deadbolt on the front door was broken and kept getting stuck, the coffeemaker was dismantled as if a previous guest broke it, and the shower leaked an insane amount of water after we took a shower, creating a flood and slipping hazard. The TV went black every time we selected a channel. Additionally, the speaker on the phone was broken and they couldn't hear us, and the hair dryer didn't work either. Our room was 348. The actual beds were very mushy, but the linens weren't terrible. Our view was pretty but NOT a "Premium Gulf View", our view was mostly of the pool and courtyard, a random pink building that was under construction daily, and the other parts of the resort. In the very left, you could see a glimpse the beach. The walk to the beach was a winding maze that took about 20 minutes each way, and we had to pay $65 for beach chairs with exposed nails and scratchy wood surfaces. We cut ourselves on the chairs and nobody seemed to care. The Primrose Restaurant was absolutely terrible, we spent $60 on breakfast just to be ignored by our waitress Sharise and be served raw eggs. To say -- we won't be back is an understatement. I'm giving 2 stars because the man who helped us with beach equipment, Carson, was very friendly -- and the hotel gym was pretty nice, with Pelotons and other nice equipment. read more

Great hotel and location if you're making a trip to Destin. The hotel has a private beach access entrance and it's about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. You can order drinks from the local hotel bar by the beach. This was super convenient if you don't want to pack your own drinks to bring to the beach while you're here for vacation. The hotel has three pools and one is specially for adults. Food and drinks are available in both pools. They have staff walking around to take orders and they have fresh water jugs to pour yourself water if at any time you wanted to get some water will laying out in the pool. The spa is pretty small and includes the basic steam room, showers, jacuzzi and relaxation area. The massage I received was really well and did appreciate they have pre natal massages. The hotel has dinning facilities which is great if you didn't want to leave the hotel. I can't attest to the hotel food since I ate out each day. I did try the dinner menu at their sister hotel inn next door which has great view . That's the inn with the beach view. The king bed room was great. The amount of space and the balcony were perfect. I only state this to validate the content and not in a brag whatsoever (personally I like to keep some details private), but this is based on our 5th trip here and a potential of a 6th (we're debating this now). 3/5 based on previous history, but this was a 2/5 experience this time. I wish someone would read this from there so we could talk...but the wifi and phones probably don't work anyway. So, let's get into it! Pros: - The staff around lunch service at the ocean and poolside at the larger pool by the road were stellar. Food was great as well with zero issues. - The resort grounds are beautiful - kudos to the teams taking care of this. - The beach and sand areas that were to the resort were also beautiful, hard to find anything this magical domestically anymore. Challenges: - Wifi was never really up longer than a couple hours at a time. Responses to any requests during this was either "we can't help right now our system is down" or "call back when the wifi is up" - Sometimes calls weren't answered at all...not to mention only 1 of 3 in-room phones were functional. - Maintenance / refresh seemed to be in despearate need: examples 1) cables on fencing walking towards the beach 2) general paint and touch up needs everywhere 3) room furniture worn down or just not functional like lamps and plugs - We saw a lady literally fall in front of the beach hut and the staff had backs turned and no reaction. The only yellow strip was covered in sand...feels like a lawsuit waiting to happen. - The lines to get anything beachside were so long, and the staff overwhelmed. Get those folks some more help, sometimes the sacrifice of staff for profit hurts you. - Dish TV programming was broken. 3 channels worked, we didn't bother calling. - I got my keys threw at me multiple times by valets who i guess were expecting tips - if you're not on cashapp or have an app that people can tip digitally do not blame me. Not to mention gravels and dirt were dragged into the car. We'll call it even. - Dirt and dust in the vents and areas that might be annoying to clean each time...but builds up if you never do. Interesting info: one of the nicest folks (valet / bell mgr) informed us that while all the properties around there are considered "theirs", that not all of the properties are created equal. For example, if you're at the main beach resort you'll likely get prioritized on in-room requests (dining, toiletries, bedding, cleaning, etc) and others they will eventually get to. Another example was the pool and arcade from the recent buildout had sporadic hours despite being advertised on signs as 8-8...we found it as more 10-6. We are okay with what they want to support, just be accurate with it. Do with it what you will. We really want to see this place keep thriving but it's on the edge of decline IMO for a lot of it. read more

I recently stayed at the Henderson for ten days with my mom, during the third week of August 2025. PROS: -the resort is very close to Destin's main activities and restaurants -beautiful private beach -during the time we stayed, the resort was empty which was awesome, we had the entire place almost to ourselves -many pools available, our favorite was the family pool near the path to the beach, this one was open late - the staff were helpful and responsive when we needed more towels and toilet paper, the items were promptly brought to our room - bell hop service was nice upon check out, you can call and a bell hop will bring up a luggage cart to your room and assist you -our room was lovely and had a large shower and incredible free standing bath tub! Along with a small balcony. -the massage I had at the spa was very lovely CONS: - this stay was extremely expensive and I didn't feel it was worth it. Last year we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne, it was less expensive but way more luxurious. Between the resort fee and self parking rate, the trip was an extra $700, which felt absurd. - I understood this to be beach front property based on my research however, the beach is actually about 1/2 a block away, it's not a bad walk but again, the Ritz was actually beach front which felt like such a luxury - beach chairs and umbrellas were available at the beach for RENT, you had to pay $70 for two chairs and an umbrella. Absolutely ridiculous considering the expensive daily resort fee. Again, at the Ritz Carlton the chairs and umbrellas were free to hotel guests. If you didn't rent chairs, you couldn't bring your own either. Since we didn't want to spend that much on two chairs for a couple of hours, we just sat on beach towels. This element really turned me off to this property, I felt like they were trying to ring out our wallets and get any possible penny. Charging hotel guests this much for chair and umbrella rental at an expensive resort was very tacky. - the resort had multiple restaurants but none that we considered to be good. We ordered a salad from the Italian restaurant off the lobby and I'm not kidding, it came with four large pieces of lettuce. We asked for tomatoes and croutons to be added, and when the salad arrived we were shocked. If we hadn't asked for those two extras, the salad would have only consisted of four lettuce pieces, some kind of seeds, five thin slices of avocado and some cucumbers. I guess this was some attempt at a fine dining-like small course? It was a fail. The other food we got was fine, just pasta and meatballs. We also ate at Horizons which was the other bar/restaurant off the lobby. We got a pizza and a turkey club. The turkey club was good but my mom didn't enjoy the pizza, and she is not picky when it comes to pizza. The best places to eat were the poolside bars, but stick with a burger or sandwich. - the cafe called Sprinkles was overpriced, didn't have many options, and closed at 8pm. No late night snacks at this place! - the pool with the lazy river looked much bigger in pictures and videos and seemed to close at 6 pm everyday which seemed extremely early. - the spa section of the Henderson's website boasts a 10,000 square foot spa, where?? The relaxation room where you sat and waited for your service was nice, but the locker rooms were tiny and the area with the hot tub was so small I was confused when the attendant led us in, I was like where's the rest? The amenities consisted of one sauna (out of order during our trip), one shower experience (some kind of small tiled room with colored lights and a shower head), the small hot tub, and about four lounge chairs. There was a bathroom with four stalls and a shower room as well. I was really shocked when I didn't see multiple indoor pools or other steam rooms or saunas. Typically, spas usually have both dry and wet sauna options along with two hot tubs at least. If you're in the area I'd say find a spa elsewhere that's more luxurious, the services and the staff were very good but the amenities were extremely lacking, and of course it was expensive. Two 50 minute massages, one 50 minute facial, and one 25 minute facial was $800. Overall, I had a great time because of who I was with. However, I wouldn't return to the Henderson. Destin is a beautiful area with gorgeous beaches, so I'd come back to the area but stay elsewhere. Our stay at The Henderson Beach Resort began with what was honestly one of the rudest and most unwelcoming check-in experiences we have ever had. The front desk staff member who checked us in was cold, unfriendly, and completely unhelpful. There was no greeting, no explanation of the resort, and no effort whatsoever to make us feel welcome. When we asked simple questions, the responses were short and dismissive, as if we were inconveniencing them just by being there. Unfortunately, the poor hospitality didn't stop there. The valet and bell staff also stood nearby and never once offered to help with luggage or assist in any way, which is surprising and disappointing for a property that promotes itself as a luxury resort. First impressions matter, and at a resort of this caliber we expected professionalism, hospitality, and at the very least basic courtesy. Instead, the arrival experience made us feel unwelcome from the moment we stepped onto the property. Because of this experience, we will not be recommending this resort and would not choose to stay here again. There are many wonderful places to stay in the Destin area where guests are greeted warmly and treated with appreciation, and unfortunately that was not our experience here. Management should seriously evaluate the guest arrival and check-in experience, because it sets the tone for the entire stay--and ours was extremely disappointing. read more

Had a wonderful stay at this beach resort. It is very family-friendly and walking distance from the beautiful beaches of Destin. It's not right on the beach, but I think there's another portion that is right on the beach. They had a very large pool area with a restaurant and bar outside located by the pool. Is also surrounded by a lazy river. The service was very good while we were here. We had a plated at steak and lobster dinner and it was absolutely delicious food. The rooms are not really my style because it is more of an old-fashioned look and I prefer the modern look. They had live entertainment at the upstairs bar. The property was well maintained and clean. They have an on site spa and multiple restaurants. Also they had crafts and lots of family friendly activities.I recommend and would definitely return. read more

I went with a friend for a long weekend. The hotel was one of the most expensive in the area (over $550/night) and they charged a resort fee on top of that. It was nice, the service was nice but I did not think it was worthy of that price point. Our 3 bedroom condo was absolutely beautiful. We were in 5101 which is the last building in the back of the property. It has a partial gulf view from the balcony with a view over Henderson State Park. I wish I had taken pictures of the condo but rest assured it was modern, clean, and comfortable. No updating needed. That's the good. Now, the not so good. Check-in is 4p. Pretty standard. We were running early so called a little after Noon and asked if we could check-in at 2p. We were told that they couldn't promise anything but our unit was currently being cleaned so it shouldn't be a problem. We went to the grocery store - bought cold items - arrived at 2p and were told, no can do. We were given cards to access amenities but the direction from the front desk REALLY lacked details. We ended up hanging at a nearby restaurant until 4p. We are then told it's $40-somethjng a night to park yourself at the resort but our unit does not have covered, assigned parking like all the other units so we could just find an open spot in the back of the lot. No direction given on where our unit was but we just drove until we found it. We unpack the first of several loads, get to the door. None of the five keys work. Back to reception for the 3rd time. It was frustrating to say the least. Especially after a 12 hour drive. Our unit was close to the banging, daily construction as was the pool by our condo. Oddly the pool had 3 gates but the two closest to us were padlock which required us to walk all the way around to enter. The pool is big. Never too crowded. There is a lazy river but let's just say it is VERY lazy. Like floating a river when it's been a dry year so the river requires more walking than floating. Well, you don't have to walk but you move, you might need to paddle. Tubes are provided by the hotel!! The private beach for guests is crowded. You have to pay for chairs and an umbrella and if you can't book first row and don't show-up at 8am, be prepared to be rows and rows back. We ordered room service on night. The food was less than average. Want to close with a positive. Outside of check-in, everyone was so kind, friendly and attentive. Service was never an issue. It was impeccable, really. read more

This resort was fantastic. Did the self parking and it wasn't too bad. Reception area was big and open, it looked out onto a deck that looks out onto the state park. This resort takes advantage of being next to a state park with the open views, I don't blame them! Room was bigger than I thought it would be, very upscale, but beachy vibe. Heated pools were fantastic and really enjoyed the adult pool. Quiet, warm, padded lounge chairs, nice large hot tub and beautiful views. Beach access was easy and we enjoyed the walks on the powder white sand and clear emerald waters. Overall, we will be back. My wife and I stayed here starting on Monday (Labor Day) and left Friday. PERFECT TIME TO STAY! The resort is beautiful, the staff was amazing, we could check in a couple of hours early, and our room was very comfortable and well-decorated. My only gripes were to have the pool music a little louder at the adult pool and to keep the warm water flowing into the adult pool. read more

This place was a southern paradise. Definitely wonderful accommodations. We will for sure be back. Let's start with our check-in that was not smooth and to no fault of the hotels. Initially, my husband and I booked this trip through Southwest. For whatever reason, Southwest did not confirm with the hotel our stay, despite sending us an email. When we showed up, they essentially told us they did not have our booking. My husband went back-and-forth with the hotel and Southwest for almost an hour. The manager behind the counter was super helpful and I could tell that she felt bad. My husband asked Southwest to just cancel and we would book directly with the hotel as we were tired of being on the phone and ready to put down our bags and get to our vacation. Eventually, it all got worked out, however, I was impressed with the patience and hospitality, from the young lady behind the counter. Once we got our bags up to our room, we changed immediately into our bathing suits and headed to the pool. Not before we visited the bar and had four drinks between the two of us :-) the pool was warm, inviting and had vacation vibes everywhere. It was beautiful. This place was crawling with employees ready to help and answer any questions that we had. We hung out at the pool quite a bit, we also enjoyed the private access to the beach. I would recommend this place as it's accommodations are 4+ star worthy. The hotel staff was extremely helpful knowledgeable and happy to accommodate any request we made. We've visited many properties in this class on business, and I admit to reading reviews beforehand and having somewhat-lowered expectations. Well, other Yelpers aside, I don't have enough good things to say about the Henderson (note -- this was a winter visit, so can't comment on how the summer rush looks). Staff was consistently as good or better as any we've experienced, and as friendly as they come. The property was attractive and well-maintained, and any issues were dealt with promptly (we had an issue with our room A/C, and an excellent maintenance man had it fixed in no time). If there was any weak spot -- some of the onsite food was just...fine. All good, but maybe a little inconsistency in the product. That said, a simple box lunch we had prepared for one day was excellent -- way over the bar. The Henderson gets high marks from us -- definitely worth a visit. read more

The club pool bartender didn't know how to make a kalua colada. Dog barking at night in nearby room. Our Valet parking ticket was not registered, so we had to wait for our car instead of being able to call ahead. Our shower head was spraying up at ceiling in the shower, engineering attempted to fix it, but it still leaked There was a Long hair on the bathrobe in the closet. There is Construction at both pools / very loud noise from construction generator at the adults only pool. The Henderson's policy is No personal chairs on their "private beach", bit thats not true, the beach immediately next to their private beach is open for pop covers and personal beach chairs. Half day rentals are only from 1:00 pm, for a $40 charge, or $60 for a whole day. The Beach is a fairly long walk from resort and our room's "gulf view" was obscured by other buildings on the beach in front of the resort. The Adults Only pool was suoer hot like a spa The Rooftop bar is super cool in the evening There is Starbucks self serve on every floor! The hotel provided a Large bottle of Pelegrino and 4 macaroons in our room when we came back from the beach Our parking valet, Christian, recommended the Donut Hole, which has awesome breakfast, pastries, lunch and they're open until 10pm! Go there! One of the parking valets ost our keys, but the hotel waived our $39 daily valet charges for our 5 day stay. Hotel management agreed to reimburse us for the lost key ($400+). Parking valet Caden was exceptional in dealing with our lost key. read more

We had the most wonderful and amazing experience at the Henderson last night. We are local to Destin and went there for a birthday celebration. First, we went up to the rooftop bar and had the most wonderful hospitality. A woman named Colleen was so generous and gave us girls blankets because it was a bit cold outside. She was so attentive to us and made us feel so special. Next, we went down to the Primrose to have dinner and our server was Jennifer. This is arguably the most beautiful resort property in Destin. Upon check in, we were upgraded to a stunning suite thanks to AMEX Travel. Absolutely loved the room, and the bed and bowls for our dog was a great touch. We chose this hotel specifically because it is dog friendly. Pools were gorgeous, but the weather was awful through the entire length of our stay so we didn't spend much time outside. Would have still loved the stay if it weren't for the horrible food and service. Our first morning, we ate breakfast at the Primrose Restaurant. My chicken and waffles was great, although my girlfriend found her biscuits and gravy to be tasteless as well as a very small portion for the price. We were expecting a buffet...turns out there was one the entire time, it just isn't listed anywhere on the menu and our hostess and server didn't tell us about it. Our frustration began that night. Our dog hopped on the bed and got our sheets dirty, so I called down to housekeeping around 6pm and asked for another set for me to put on. Gave up after an hour of waiting and walked down to the beach, of course while at the beach I receive a voicemail from housekeeping that someone tried to deliver the sheets but they couldn't enter our room because of our dog. Quickly returned to the room and let housekeeping know we were back...nothing. Finally around 9pm I went down to the front desk and asked what was going on, another half hour later we FINALLY got a pair of sheets. It took three and a half hours to get a staff member to simply grab a pair of bed sheets and bring them to our room...absolutely absurd. The same night, we decided to try the room service for dinner. We were quoted an hour wait time for food, which is pretty typical of my experience with ordering room service at any hotel. The food arrived a half hour late...the Asian cauliflower appetizer was complete mush, and accompanying rice truthfully tasted like rubber and was simply inedible. Chicken tenders did not come with the listed sauce, and they were pretty dry and tasteless. BBQ chicken pizza was bearable. More wasted money. The next morning we tried the breakfast buffet, big mistake. French toast was hard as a rock, and dry. Frittata was very soggy and tasteless, wouldn't have been quite as gross if it wasn't so soggy but wow was it nasty. "Yukon potato" pancakes were barely lukewarm and completely tasteless. Pastries were low quality pre-packaged products, Greek yogurt was warm and didn't taste good at all, and the charcuterie board was a good attempt at trying to be high end but it was just out of place and had weird portions. Mimosas- I love a generous alcohol to OJ ratio...but this was a bit much. Barely enough OJ to give it a colored tint. Again, a hard pour is great but it was just overkill, especially with such cheap tasting and unpleasant Prosecco. After feeling like chumps for spending a single dime on that awful buffet, we went to Sprinkles Cafe to try to salvage some semblance of a halfway decent breakfast experience. There was one poor guy working behind the counter, clearly overworked and under staffed. The frustrated look on the faces of all the people waiting in line to be served told me to simply turn around and walk away. The great room was the only positive part of this experience. Horrible service and food at places like this are the reason why corporate chains are beating out smaller businesses...and rightfully so. This would not have happened at a Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott. I will go with one of the big chains from now on. Looking at my final bill here at the Henderson, I felt like a fool who had been played by this place. We stayed at the Henderson for a week in June. It is a beautiful resort and a short walk to their private beach. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the resort and the ocean. The staff is very professional and courteous. Having an adult pool was very enjoyable. The restaurants are all top notch, especially Primrose. The rooftop bar was excellent and facilitated a beautiful view of the sunset. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the Henderson to any visitors in the Destin area read more

My family and I have been coming to the Henderson Resort for years. We have always stayed in a loft, and this visit was no exception. The rooms were clean and well furnished with many cooking utensils in the kitchen, washer and dryer, and fun bunk beds. So why the three stars, you ask? When I go to a resort, I want to participate in as many activities as possible. The Henderson is in the perfect location: it is right next to their private beach equipped with paddleboards, kayaks, jet skis, and chairs with umbrellas. The resort also offers bicycles and lawn games. All of this is good and fun. I will admit I was able to enjoy most of these things, but the main issue was the activity hours. There were inconsistencies on the pamphlet they gave us versus the hours we were told by staff. The beach attendants and gift shop cashier constantly gave us different operating hours for their services, which was very frustrating when we planned on an activity only to arrive and be told they had closed or were already putting items away. On a humorous note, we requested towels on Thursday and Housekeeping called the following Wednesday, saying they received an email about our request and asked if we still wanted towels! I recommend Cissy's cafe be open on Sundays and Mondays, especially considering Sunday is a very big check in/out day. Overall, it would be preferable to have a dependable resort activity schedule. read more

Want to pay a 5 star price with a 3 star experience? This is the place for you! We are a nice family from Chicago trying to enjoy our spring break with our 6 year old and 2 year old. We are paying $1k a night. Despite the fact the service is abysmal (might not even be the accurate description. They are extremely understaffed. The kindest staff, yet clearly overwhelmed. No concierge. Wait staff and bartenders can barely keep up. You wait 30 minutes for anything), any "activities" listed on their website aren't ACTUALLY available. Pool bar area? Opens when it decides! The kids activity center? No one has even heard of it (btw- we paid $70 and made reservations and literally no one was there when we arrived). Don't take what you read online for this resort at face value. One might understand our frustration as it is. Well wait. The zinger comes!!!! We walk casually down at 6pm to get dinner. There are no reservations or any availability for my family to eat for at least 2 hours. I ask to speak with the manager. I am ungraciously greeted by "Brad Johnson" who hurriedly tells me "to figure it out" and "it's first come first serve in some and reservations in the others" WHAT? Not even an "I'm so sorry. We have a lot of guests who frequent our establishment." Give me any excuse or greet me with some compassion. Instead? I was met with an eye roll and an attitude. Thank you for the incredible service for the $1k a night my family and I are paying. To top it off, when I say I look forward to writing my review? Had such a great time vacationing here. The views and service were excellent. Valet were on time and very helpful. We really enjoyed the private access to the beach. The food & drinks by the pool were great as well. We were told that all the rooms were booked but it didn't feel like it was overcrowded or anything. Even the kids that were there weren't annoying. If I could take the star away I would. The SPA at The Henderson was the worst I have ever seen. Robes ratty falling apart, restroom and shower moldy and not mopped, trash cans overflowing, furniture had nasty hand rub stains on arms, carpets not cleaned, it was the worst. The massage services were the only saving grace. Skip this SPA if you frequent it, what a waste if money to not use any amenities because scared you will get staff infection or worse. UNACCEPTABLE! Corporate clean it up!! Last but not least the valet lost my keys, they took me in a room to see if I saw them, they were all Mercedes. I have a name tag on my keys and it took 15 minutes to locate. I still don't know where they were stuck. WTH people! Train your staff. read more

Nice place...awesome awesome Spa services!!! Wow...experiential shower, eucalyptus steam room, whirlpool, and an awesome Swedish massage. Heated pools, lazy river and beach access all great!!
