I wish to commend Sterling Tree & Lawn (the "Company"), located in Speonk, New York, on the outstanding work they have performed in improving and maintaining the landscape at our house in Westhampton. They have restored our failing bald lawn, they have reshaped our wildly out-of-control Hemlock bushes into perfectly cut and trimmed models of verdant ornament, they have replaced plants that were dying from lack of sunlight with appropriate choices of plants that do not need full sun all day to thrive, and they have been available for emergency repair jobs when disease or other destructive forces have attacked our plants. The credit goes to the wonderful staff at the Company who are singularly qualified and competent at performing the work promised by the Company. In particular, I want to single-out Tom and the two Charlies who are so expert at what they do. Tom, a former lawn and tree manager at a golf course, is remarkably skilled at applying his impressive knowledge to horticultural problems on our property and finding solutions to those problems. He is also a wonderful, agreeable person to talk with about those problems. We love to be present during Tom's visits to our property so that we can talk with him about issues of concern to us. Then there are the two Charlies who are responsible for the lawn and the sprinkler system. Before we engaged the company to care for our lawn, the lawn, for many years, was in a state of aesthetic disgust. Today, through the work of the Company's lawn team, particularly the two Charlies, the lawn is now one of the more pleasing features of our landscape. They understand how much hydration particular areas of the lawn need, how to adjust that hydration through the sprinkler system and what varieties of grass are appropriate given the soil and sunlight conditions of our lawn. Then there is Max, who achieved an outstanding feat when he and his team performed the remarkable tonsure of our hemlock bushes so that those previously wildly burgeoning plants both no longer block the sunlight to our pool, but rather also are now very pleasing to the eye as objects of horticultural pleasure. I also wish to single out in particular, Ms. Ashley Strohson. In my humble opinion, Ms. Ashley is any company's delight. Although she is not a horticulturist, she is one the finest customer service representatives I have ever encountered. She is every business's dream as, through her singularly pleasant, courteous and caring behavior, she makes you believe that the Company cares and wants to provide you with the best service it can. She tends to your needs when you are counting on the Company to get your job done promptly and professionally. She is understanding and supportive. I cannot think of another customer service representative who makes the consumer feel satisfied more than Ms. Ashley. We are deeply grateful to her. You won't do wrong by engaging the Company to service your landscape. read more

I called sterling tree as a last ditch effort to save a 30 ft pine tree on the edge of my property that served as a great privacy screen... anyway I thought that the tree just wasn't getting nutrients or something. After calling in I set up a free estimate for the next week and the guy came by and looked at the tree and the rest of the property. It actually didn't take them long to point out some that there were bug larvae under some of the bark of the tree! Then they told me that in about 2 months the tree will be swarming with insects so I immediately signed up for a spray treatment. The following week they came back this time with some fancy truck and sprayed a few of my trees. Two months later, my trees are not swarming with bugs and in fact they came back and did a deep root fertilization on the tree and it now looks full and healthy! I don't have much experience with companies like this but I was super happy with Sterling tree's work, they guys were definitely knowledgable and they delivered everything as promised. read more

My neighbor told me about Sterling Tree when I was about to uproot all my fruit trees on my front lawn. We had some of the most beautiful apple and cherry trees that just stopped producing. After using other companies who sprayed and sprayed for every insect imaginable, I called Sterling. Right away he brought his air spade and within 10 minutes I was looking at the root structure of my fruit tree that was never taken out of the wire basket when planted. He explained to me that this is very common and landscapers either don't care because they are off the property in 3 years when the tree is dying or they really believe that the tree can grow through the wire mesh. Anyway, Sterling Tree used the air spade so that there was no root damage and we replanted the trees. Needless to say, we also had great fruit the following season. read more

My husband and I live in Southampton, NY and Sterling Tree & Lawn has taken care of our property for about 5 years. They are excellent at what they do. our lawn looks great all summer long and we even have them do the organic program. My perennial beds are beautiful and healthy. I also have a small hobby 'orangerie' that gets more detailed care and they help me with that too. We have other fruit trees and they really take great care of them. Another reviewer wrote that the company is closed on Saturday, while that is true they do make Sunday visits. I find the company very pleasant to work with. I don't often have to call them because they do their job well. I can only sing good praise of this company. read more

I have never come in contact with a tree service provider that is so knowledgeable and provides such great service as Sterling Tree and Lawn. Nobody has to deal with Sterling because he has so many men in the field that he is equipped to take care of any problem. If I knew the owner had the time to visit every single customer that he has, covering a couple hundred miles, I would find it a bit strange. His staff can bring trees back to life that other service providers were ready to chop down for firewood. There is no one like Sterling Tree in all of Long Island. I would confidently recommend this company to anyone looking to maintain a beautiful landscape. read more

If you have to have any contact with ASHLEY the general manager or by the way she operates you would think the owner of the company, you will be left with a very bad taste in your mouth. The rude, disrespectful, blatant disregard for the fact that you're the PAYING customer, is not even close to professional let alone tolerable. Thank the LORD above that the rest of the staff that I have dealt with is always kind, polite, courteous, patient, and friendly. Thank you Tom and Jennifer for always being considerate.
