The place I bought it from wanted to charge us $500 to create a new cushion to set atop the existing base, which not only felt pretty steep, but they estimated that it would take them a month or two to do the work. Since we already had the longer cushion, we shopped around to see if someone could just convert the longer cushion into a square, rather than creating a whole new cushion: enter Rainbow Upholstery. Not only was the owner incredibly responsive, his prices were more than fair and he was able to complete the work in 1-2 days, not months. I'm so happy with my new ottoman--it looks like it was always meant to look this way, and fits my new home so much better!

He came in, diagnosed the issue immediately, and did a professional foam reinforcement and spring repair that has the couch sitting like it's *brand new* again. He even took the time to look at a neighbor's custom furniture repair while he was here and gave them solid, friendly advice on how to save their money. No high-pressure sales from this dude. He also specializes in 'sofa surgery' -- disassembling furniture to fit through those notoriously tight DMV hallways and elevators, then rebuilding it perfectly on the other side. I dropped something hot on the seating surface of my new leather couch, it didn't burn the surface too bad but it did leave a mark and bunch the leather and was very noticeable. I tried to contact a franchise company in town first, but after several failed attempts to seek a quote I never heard back...too bad for them. I submitted a request to Metro at about 2100 Thursday and received a call at 0900. They had a tech at my door within 6 hours. As far as the rate they charge I did not feel that the rate was too excessive. I make a decent amount of my money off other peoples' stupid mistakes so I can understand how it goes.
