That said, I wouldn't return or recommend this location for other autistic families at this time. The instructors didn't seem prepared or confident in working with a neurodiverse child. They frequently checked the time, every few minutes which made it feel like they were just trying to get through the 30 minutes rather than stay engaged. On multiple occasions, they asked my husband what they should have our son do next, which made it clear there wasn't a set plan tailored to his needs. We had explained from the beginning that our son is clingy and may need more time to warm up. Despite that, it felt like the instructors were caught off guard by this every single lesson. I would strongly encourage the staff to receive some basic training or education about autism and neurodiversity in general. Every child is different, and a little understanding and preparation can go a long way in making lessons more effective and inclusive.

We also had lifeguard Laura, and she was AMAZING! I also used to be a lifeguard (now a mom that wanted to enjoy interacting with other parents and not have to watch the pool like a hawk). I was totally comfortable with Laura - she was able to expertly manage our mix of young swimmers and non-swimmers, and parents. It was clear that safety was a priority, and she kept a watchful eye on the swimmers, enforced rules when appropriate to keep everyone safe, but also made sure everyone was having a great time! I'd have her back in a heartbeat. Many parents were super appreciative (and impressed) that we had a lifeguard for the party. Honestly everyone should do it!

Having a pool, family & friends with pools, it was so important to me to make sure my daughter had swim lessons and knew what to do in case of an accident. She was a fighter in the beginning with survival lessons, but Ms Laura is so patient, kind, and soothing, she soon got over the fear and floating on her own. Now fast forward to learning actual swim lessons and my girl (3 1/2) is a little fish in the water & so fearless. It's been such an amazing journey to watch her and can't wait to see her learn more this summer! We just had another little girl in January & I'm so excited for her swim journey as well!
