As a newer operation, some vendor pricing appears notably (even breathtakingly) ambitious, though that may reflect an effort to gauge the market. For out-of-state dealers seeking more resale-friendly options, we would recommend either Brass Armadillo location (including the nearby location just a few miles away), Antique Trove in Scottsdale, or Call It New / Call It Antique in Mesa. The Town is small but has many craft shops, featuring native jewelry, knives, katchina dolls and so much more: I bought myself a beautiful folded steel knife with wood handle and a leather belt sheaf, it has great balance besides being a work of art. We strolled around in the light rain, went to look at the rustic wedding chapel - closed, so couldn't see i side - took the photo coming out of the salloon, and the headed over to Hansen's BBQ for a cold one. We got our drinks and sat at one of the high tops sipping our drinks and looking forward to some live music. Cody Gibson had been up on stage for a while when I went to ask him for a fave tune: the Streets of Laredo. He listened to it and then played it for me ! All was going so well then a sudden "Craaack" and a splitting sound: the transformer down the road died, so the Town and restaurants closed... I noticed a lot of teenagers walking around, and the whole place feels lively in a way that teenagers would love. The outdoor areas, the open walkways, and the spots to sit or take pictures don't cost anything at all, which makes it easy to have fun there without needing a plan. I didn't realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around and saw how welcoming and upbeat the whole marketplace feels. It surprised me how comfortable it was to just be there without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by the crowds. Even though it's a shopping and entertainment center, it gives teenagers a great place to hang out, take photos, listen to music, or just be creative while exploring the different areas. I only visited Desert Ridge Marketplace one time in my life before making this review, but it ended up being one of the most enjoyable and youthful places I've been to in a long time. I never doubted that the experience would turn out the way I hoped it would. I've lived for 24 years, but in the summer of 2024 I learned that I'm still physically and mentally 18 years old, and that my prefrontal cortex is more developed than the average 25‑year‑old's. Maybe that's why I connect so much with places that feel playful, social, and full of energy. I would highly recommend that teenagers go to this marketplace because it gives them a fun, open space to enjoy themselves, walk around, and feel creative. Be sure to check out the various placards and signs on some of the buildings to learn about their history. Cool spot! Lots of southwestern charm and pretty lampposts in this sleepy town.
