Steubenville Dental Studio is part of a massive 250-clinic corporate chain that treats patients like revenue sources rather than people. Dr. Cole Conboy takes absolutely no accountability for the chaos in his own clinic. My experience was a complete bait-and-switch. When I called to schedule a cleaning, I explicitly told them I had X-rays from six months ago. They said "no problem" but never asked me to have them sent over. When I arrived, the hygienist brought be to the x-ray room and told me I needed a Cone Beam CT scan and full mouth X-rays. I told him I only came in for a cleaning, but he said because I was a new patient I needed to do these. I am not opposed to X-rays when necessary, but I had just had them done and no one wants unnecessary radiation. When I voiced this, they dismissed me with comparisons like "it's the same as eating a banana" or "four hours on a plane." I felt backed into a corner. I realized that trying to get my old records sent over right then would mean cancelling the appointment I had been waiting for. I finally agreed to the new scans solely to ensure I could get my teeth cleaned that day. After realizing I had a molar tooth extraction 4 months prior, the male hygienist said he needed to do another full head scan. I pushed back again, but he said I couldn't move forward without it. Then came the most frustrating part. After exposing me to all that unnecessary radiation, he refused to clean my teeth, saying that I needed a deep clean and would have to schedule it and get approval from my insurance. I said I just wanted a normal cleaning and he claimed it would be "medical malpractice" to do a standard cleaning. After some back and forth the truth came out: because of my insurance, they never could have done a cleaning that day in the first place because the new X-rays had to be approved first, even for a regular cleaning. They knew this but brought me in anyway just to bill for redundant imaging. I asked to speak to the doctor and Dr. Conboy eventually came to the room. I told him about the misleading scheduling and he deflected all blame. He and his staff openly disparaged their own phone team, claiming they are "$10 an hour workers with crying babies in the background" that he has "no control" over. I said, listen, at least tell me you will try to fix this so it doesn't happen to another patient, and he said they are part of a 250 clinic practice and he has no control over the training for their telephone staff. This place is broken. Their Google Review rating looks high, but has tanked to a 3.3 average over the last 6 months for good reason - verified by GMB Everywhere which looks at Google Review History. I had a tooth I wanted pulled Dr Allen insisted that I get a root canal along with three crowns. The first crown he did in pain along with this root canal that I didn't want told this doctor I didn't like pain I don't like needles and a fear of having tooth pain is something that I didn't want now I wake up out my sleep constant pain taking 4 to 8 Tylenol a day just to have some relief. that I asked to have pulled now he tells me I need another root canal not doing it not gonna happen so now I have to go see a surgeon to get tooth that I asked to have pulled the first time to have it pulled now very unprofessional didn't care for my service. Never have to worry about me coming back ever because now I have to find someone to fix what he did in my mouth and deal with chronic pain 24 hours a day now. Go with your first instinct if you feel like you don't need a root canal don't get one and if you feel like you need a second opinion, get I should've got a second opinion and maybe I wouldn't be dealing with chronic tooth pain right now. read more

I went there for a consultation because it has listed them on my insurance as a "comfort care" dental service. I suffer from severe dental anxiety. When I got there, the staff was friendly, and I found out I needed quite a bit of dental work done. The dentist recommended I go to another place that offers sedation or laughing gas because they do not. I was kinda stunned about that. So I later found out my insurance wouldn't cover that at all for me. So I called Completed dental back, because I have to have this stuff done, and he did say they could give me Valium. They never got back to me with my plan of treatment and insurance approval... so over a week later I called back and basically was told that the dentist won't do the work on me and I should go to a sedation dentist... which I explained is not an option for me... and they said well sorry but he won't do it. Refusal of treatment because I have a real problem with anxiety is unethical. I would not recommend this place if you have any dental anxiety at all. Horrible way to treat another human being and is against the oath he took to care for all patients. read more

Very professional, thorough and courteous staff. Doctor and hygienist were very understanding of my personal condition, which isn't something that is very common. Many medical professionals I've encountered in the past are not understanding at all, but I felt that they were very understanding and accommodating. Had a great experience there! read more

The other review is complete hogwash. It looks like a fake paid review or one made up by their staff. Their staff are about the most incompetent I have ever seen anywhere. I've seen people sit for hours in their over crowded cramped waiting area that is narrower than a bus. Ive had them schedule me for appointments and drove across several counties to get there as they are the closest to us only to find the doctor wasn't even scheduled to be there that day. You go to these people for an 11 am appointment and you will be lucky if you get in the chair before 2. Their sanitation methods are shoddy and they frequently let unqualified people who are in training perform procedures the Dental Board tells me they should not be allowed to do outside of a dental school and with patient consent. Their "doctors" are literally more interested in getting out of the office and off to the golf course than they are in your health. read more

Charged $4000 for work I never even had done. When I called dthey refused to give me the letter to give to their care credit stating I never received the work. They instead wanted me to go get the work done. Um no I now do not trust you as you charged me for a bridge and crowns none of which I ever received. Now I have a broken flipper no bridge, no crowns, although they did 4 root canals so those teeth broke. I am unable to go anywhere to get it done bc everywhere used care credit. Which they I agreed to apply for with the stipulations I could not afford another bill till income tax so I would not be getting the work until then . By the time income tax came they had already billed the care credit for 5 months or more and care credit was sending collections for work I never received. I have contacted the BBB which they are not accredited with and was told by both them and Care credit I am not alone with this complaint. These people are frauds read more

This facility is AWFUL! They "fixed" my back molar by removing an old filling and digging so deep for another filling. Now I have to have the tooth extracted and a permanent implant put it's place! Had they done this right in the beginning the tooth could have been saved. Go anywhere but there to save yourself time, money and pain!!! read more

I have been here twice. The first time they did 4 root canals on the top of my mouth and 12 fillings. Two doctors kept coming in and switching out to work on me because one wasn't comfortable with doing root canals on molars. They completely rushed through the work. The second time I told them I didn't want them to rush and I didn't want to do all of the work because the last time I was there I couldn't eat for two weeks. After they did all the fillings my bite was off. I specifically told them why I hate dentists and they just made me realize even more why I hate going to the dentist. Any real dentist won't do 4 root canals and 12 fillings and only give you Motrin. I understand how things are nowadays but if they were going to send me home with Motrin don't do all the work or at least tell me beforehand that you're not going to prescribe anything. They are terrible. I was referred to complete dental care by my heart surgeon. I had to get dental clearance to get the open heart surgery that I desperately need. The dentist told me I needed almost $3,000 worth of work before she could give me the clearance. They told me that I had no infection which is what the surgeon is concerned about. They even sent in another dentist that told me the same thing. Neither dentist came back to see me once I told they them I could not afford $3000 to have the work they insisted I needed. The surgeons office contacted them and now the dentist is saying I have infection in my gums which they never told me. They will not even send the records to the surgeon. I would not recommend this dentist office to anyone. The worst I've ever been too. read more

I have never been to more incompetent group of doctors in my life. Not only did they mess my sons teeth up, they "tried" to correct their mistake only to charge my insurance again and I still had to take him to specialist in Pittsburgh to have them fix their mistake. Poor excuse for a business. Staff was awful, doctors and manager included. They should not be open. Completely disgusted. read more
