I underwent a procedure with Dr. Batash called the stomach suture, and I can honestly say it has been one of the biggest disappointments of my life. This procedure was presented as a solution that would help me lose weight and improve my health, but it turned out to be a complete scam. Not only did it fail to deliver any of the promised results, but after I complained, the "solution" offered was for me to start taking injections and pills--even though I already have a medical condition that makes this unsafe. Instead of standing behind the procedure or addressing the failure, I was pushed toward more treatments and expenses that I cannot and should not take. After going through the expense, the stress, and the recovery process, I saw absolutely no benefit. The results simply did not match what was advertised or explained beforehand. Patients put their trust in a doctor's word and expertise, but in this case, I feel that trust was broken. Disappointing, Painful, and Misleading Bariatric Balloon Experience - Requesting Refund I underwent a Bariatric Balloon procedure on 08/13/2025, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. From the moment I woke up, I felt horrible--severe stomach pain, nausea, shaking, and chills. Initially, I thought it was from the anesthesia, but once I got home, things only worsened. I began vomiting uncontrollably, and immediately asked my wife to call the doctor. We returned to Dr. Batash's office the same day requesting removal, but were told the anesthesiologist had already gone home. Instead, I was kept for several additional hours, given fluids and pain medication, and strongly encouraged to keep the balloon in. I was told my body simply needed time to adjust. Reluctantly, I agreed--but that was the worst decision I could have made. The balloon did not agree with my body, but I was repeatedly told this was normal. For the entire time it was in place, I was miserable--I could barely eat, could only tolerate fluids, suffered from severe acid reflux, constant bloating, and could not comfortably lie on my back or right side. Eventually, I requested removal, but was given the runaround until I insisted on showing up in person. Only then did I learn that Dr. Batash was not even in Florida, but at his New York office. After multiple delays, the balloon was finally removed on 09/01/2025. Once removed, Dr. Batash told me I had a lot of food stuck at the top of my stomach, even though I had been on a 3-day clear liquid diet prior to removal. This explains why I had been vomiting uncontrollably--the small amount of solid food I consumed simply could not pass through. What frustrates me most is the lack of transparency. During the consultation, it was never disclosed that the program expects patients to take phentermine and/or Ozempic in addition to the balloon. Coming to Dr. Batash, I wanted a more permanent solution, not to be dependent on additional medications and their side effects. If I had known this, I never would have gone through with the procedure. In my opinion, the balloon is meant for portion control, while phentermine suppresses appetite--but comes with side effects and significant weight regain once you stop. Having used phentermine before, I refused it. After removal, I was then encouraged to start Ozempic, which I also declined. In addition to the physical suffering, I feel I wasted thousands of dollars and weeks of my time, and overall, I feel like I was misled, misinformed, and even scammed. Because of this, I am requesting a full refund. For anyone considering this procedure: ask very clearly about all medications, side effects, and the full treatment plan before you commit. Don't assume the balloon is the only part of the program. Make sure you understand exactly what you're signing up for, so you don't end up in the same situation I did--losing time, money, and peace of mind, while experiencing unnecessary pain. read more

A fantastic doctor with great bedside manner and a kind and compassionate man. But why one star? Because he employs the rudest and most incompetent and inarticulate office staff who make any interaction absolutely painful. I know of several people, myself included, who brought this to the doctor's attention but nothing changes. Dr Batash: fire your office staff. Those women are ruining your reputation. Let me again point out that my review is not about Dr Batash's level of care. He is a fantastic doctor. It is about many other "behind the scenes" aspects that not only make for an unhappy patient experience, but also make an excellent doctor look bad. So, apparently Dr Batash is no longer providing standard GI services and is now only doing weight loss services. I had an appointment booked for my GI visit and when I called to move the appointment THAT is how I found out that they had canceled my appointment, as he can no longer treat me or anyone else who was a GI patient. Naturally the lowlife rude girls in the office lied and told me they left me a message to inform me. Nope. Never happened. On top of that, the Twitter account STILL Tweets DAILY offering specific GI services that are no longer being offered by this doctor. The website also has some specific GI services listed that they told me he also no longer provides. So who's minding the website and social media store?? Again, Dr Batash is a great doctor and it's a shame he will no longer be my GI doctor, as a good one is hard to find. But between the moron rude girls in the office, incorrect website information, and completely inaccurate Tweets being sent daily, it's a bit of a shit show over there. As much as I like Dr Batash, I won't miss the ordeal (and it's ALWAYS an ordeal) of dealing with that horrible office staff (PA's not included. They are terrific). As a visitor in the waiting room who is waiting on a loved one for hours while they get a procedure done, I can say there is no Wifi for waiting patients / visitors. Watching the old flat screen was bad on the eyes. It didn't appear to be in HD. No water fountain or pantry amenities were available. In addition, the parking in the area is non-existent. I would have liked a voucher for a parking spot at the mall at least. read more

Stay far far away. Made me wait 80 minutes (told me "soon" after 45, "five minutes" after 60 etc) in a small cramped and packed waiting room (kind of unethical during covid?). VERY disappointed. I decided to go to Dr. Batash for a "new set of eyes" and second opinion with a problem I am having. My initial consultation with him was excellent! He suggested further testing and although it is out of the way I agreed to go into Manhattan and not locally. I went to Rusk Institute within a few days, has a test and had to call his office several times until I finally got Gela who told me everything came out "ok" but I needed further testing and NYU would call me after they got permission. I waited 2 weeks, sent 2 e-mails to Gela but never heard back (waited reasonable amount of time) Finally I spoke to her after leaving several messages and was told by her that 3 weeks was not very long and it is up to NYU to get permission for the test. I feel she is a terrible representation of Dr. Batash both professionally and personally. After a month I now made an appointment with another gastro specialist. Wow... Dr. Batash is rude, inappropriate, and has a horrible bed-side manner. His behavior should certainly be reported. His office is also very disorganized. Be prepared for HIPPA violations due to the inattention to patient privacy. If you were referred to Dr. Batash, get another referral from your PCP. read more

The doctor himself is wonderful. Just be prepared to stay all day. If it's a 12:30 procedure, you could be waiting until 5:30 to go in even if you get there early. I was told by a friend the best time is 7am on Sundays but those go quick. read more

Over a year ago I made an appointment to see Dr. Batash instead i was seen by his PA, she was awesome, professional and knowledgeable, i was happy with the service provided. Weeks later i went for a colonoscopy where I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Batash he has great bedside manners and explained everything to me. Few weeks ago i made an appointment to se him through zocdoc, i live in Manhattan, his office is located in Rego Park (30 minutes drive) my appointment was scheduled for 12pm due to traffic i arrived 5 minutes late. I sign in and 25 minutes later the receptionist called me to informed me that "they left a message on my phone stating that they are no longer participating with my insurance". I have nothing against Dr. Batash, my complaint goes up to management and front desk staff. I wasted 30 min driving, $15 tolls, $3 private parking. They couldn't communicate with me, however i received numerous text reminding me about the appointment but nothing to let me know that they decided to cancel. What a waste!!! read more

I decided to give it a shot because I also saw positive reviews and I live close by. I must say that I am surprised at the negative reviews I see and this is why I am writing this. First of all I have to admit I did wait a while but lets face it, I wait at any other doctor's office. The secretary that made my appointment was very polite and even stayed on the phone with me to explain how to get there. The office is beautiful and clean, and the doctor himself seemed very knowledgeable. He made me feel like he actually cared about my health and was very patient in answering all of my questions. The medical assistants were also very polite and helpful. I have an exam scheduled with him very soon, I was surprised at how quickly It is to get an appointment. They were horrible. Dr. Steven Batsh was not the problem... the problem was the people he had working for him. I only met Dr. Batash once and that was it. His PA was the one who took care of me but they didn't even take care of me properly. His PA knew what my problem was and that I needed help as soon as possible but they didn't even care. The staff that works at the desk is completely horrible and does not care about the patients. Half the time they would just talk to one another and not even aknowledge the patient who was at the front desk. Everything there is a complete joke and if you are very sick and are seeking help I highly suggest NOT going to them. THEY WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF YOU. I blindly trusted them and in return became very sick. I repeatedly asked them to help me and give me the proper medication but every time I asked, I was told to be patient and believe in them and it was a complete lie.
