I had a really good first visit here for a check up. But when I came back for a filling it felt…read morelike the office was in disarray. My dentist really didn't take a lot of care in his work. Basically got the job done and left. Didn't give me any instructions on what to do in the next 24 hours after a filling was put in place. A month later I was back because my tooth was still in pain.

My previous dentist moved out of the state, and since then I have been on a search for another…read more I look for 3 things when visiting the dentist: 1. Professional and kind staff 2. Knowledgeable dentist who cares 3. Gentle on the mouth as I have very sensitive teeth First, I had an appointment first thing in the morning. I arrived 7 minutes before my new patient exam, and it took me less than 5 minutes to be called back (I always time these sort of things). They immediately took me back to a chair and walked me through the process - X-rays and then exam done by the doctor. X-rays were quick, staff were friendly. I heard Dr. Chang walking around to staff and patients (including myself) greeting each one. I thought that was really nice and was impressed. Back in the chair, they used a cool pen-looking device to take imaging of my teeth. They have a tv screen right above the chair so you can actually see all the pictures of your teeth. None of my previous dental offices had this set up. Thought it was a good touch. The wait for the dentist, Dr Blum, was very short. I have very sensitive teeth and he was very helpful to walk me through why and what I can do about it. Roberto cleaned my teeth, and he was very gentle. Cleanings make me very nervous, but this one wasn't bad at all. I was given some toothpaste samples for my sensitive teeth which is more than past dentists. I really appreciated it! Check out was fast and easy, and they printed off my next appointment reminder. Nice touch, considering most reminders are written on, not printed. I thought the doctors were very nice, and couldn't be happier with their services or the level of technology used at this clinic. I will be back, and look forward to it. Hopefully my teeth will still be in good condition. :) I highly recommend this office, and if you speak Spanish they have plenty of translators available.

After we set an appointment, I realized my mama hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years. That's…read morewhy we actually sent the appointment. She wanted dentures after getting all of her teeth pulled years ago behind a health concern. This was our first time going to this office. It was a wonderful experience. I loved how they treated my mama. I love how they seem like a small town office. Every visit we've done since then, they've not only known her but also known me. I love little details like that.

In case you don't get to the bottom of my experience explanation, Aspen charged me for my cleaning…read more(of course that's fine), and then gave me "FREE" x-rays by cutting my gum open, not thinking it was an immediate issue, and causing me to go elsewhere due to the severity of the cut. That cost me $1,102 to have a good, respectable dentist do some invasive stuff. Ever have bone come through a tear in your gum that you have to get shaved and filed down? I can't remember the last time I had tooth pain. It had to be middle school or earlier. Yet a few days after I had my first appointment here, I developed pain in my tooth that they put a filling in after one had apparently fallen out. Assuming it would go away, I didn't give it much thought. As it continued to get worse, I called in to have it looked at, explaining my pain was increasingly worse and I couldn't eat. The receptionist was not friendly and did not seem to take my pain seriously, saying they couldn't get me in for over a week. I have an appointment with Village West Dentistry tomorrow, so I will add to this review once they tell me what Aspen has possibly caused. Should it be unrelated, I will delete the majority of this negative review. However, the part about not taking my pain seriously will stay within the review. Update: Called next day around 11:00 to request copies of x-rays. It was during business hours, but it went to voicemail. I left my name, number and reason for calling. Guess what? I never got a call back. This office is getting on my last nerve. Update: Again. Called next day to ask that x-rays be sent to new dentist. I would have to fill out a consent form (perfectly fine), they would then send that to corporate (why?), and then it would be 7-14 days before they send them. I asked my new dentist about it, and he said he has never heard of a company that couldn't just get consent and then email them all in the same day. Thanks again for the ridiculousness, Aspen. Update: New dentist was able to immediately send X-rays and visit details to a periodontist of my choosing. Aspen can't do that. Update: $667 at a periodontist because the tear from how Aspen took x-rays with the always uncomfortable tabs you have to bite on. They had to use stitches and file bone that was now showing. Update: $1,102 dollars out of pocket because Aspen created a lot of damage from the "FREE" X-rays. If you don't want an unexpected payment plan, probably go somewhere else.
