They called me at 7 am the next morning and got me in at 11am that day (keep in mind- I am not even a patient of theirs). The dentist was great and re attached my veneer after numbing my mouth. He educated me on future complications/what to avoid/what to watch for. His assistant was wonderful. I have had no problems since (knock on wood). The next day (so Saturday), the same gal who called me at 7am called to check on me. The best customer service I think I have ever had in my life. Again, I will be switching to this office. My third appt was to get some cavities filled by Dr Jessup, I had no issues with pain before the fillings but now am in a lot of pain and it's been 4 months since then. So I was not happy with that. I went in today for a cleaning from Dr Hutchinson, she was super kind and helpful on a plan to get my tooth to no longer hurt, she said that the filling I was given needed to be fixed and that should solve the pain. Overall I would definitely reccomend the office as the desk gals and hygienists are wonderful and so is Dr Hutchinson but I wouldn't reccomend seeing Dr Jessup. Also the location is kind of interesting to get to but once you've gone once it'll be a breeze to get to again. They do have a parking lot which I appreciate, and the office is very cozy and clean inside as well!

I'm in the Army going to the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth for this year…read more They don't allow us to miss very much class time, so finding a "one stop shop" for my dental needs was extremely important. The dental office on post lost my trust after the dentist there and his assistant (who are super nice BTW) dropped instruments during my appointment to get a temporary crown. Not only that, but after 3 days the temporary crown fell out when I was eating a sandwich (not something that was even that hard)!! Additionally, when I called the Fort Leavenworth clinic about it, they said that having a temporary crown fall out after 3 days was normal! I just don't see that as being the case. All these shenanigans was after getting referred for a root-canal that should've been followed within 3-6 weeks with the temporary crown. Fort Leavenworth forced me into the above appointment 7-8 weeks after the root-canal and basically told me "tough" at their front desk and to "just be careful" with the tooth that just received the root-canal. Needless to say, that's when I started wondering if I could go somewhere else. The on post dental clinic is severely lacking in customer service at their front desk and a level of competence that I'm comfortable with. After calling TRICARE (insurance) for my procedures, they gave me a list that I whittled down to a couple places. I eventually chose Olathe Smiles Dentistry because they could do all of the procedures I needed AND do them all in one day with NO follow-up appointments (pending any unanticipated complications). The dental clinic (Ebony) on post very begrudgingly set up the referral for me. No one likes confrontation, but I am SO glad I put an end to my suffering at their hands. Olathe Smiles Dentistry was great from when I checked in (Ebony screwed up the insurance referral paperwork that Olathe Smiles front desk ladies fixed PROACTIVELY), to the assistants and the doctors. First, I saw Trish who works with the periodontist Dr. McKenzie. She got me x-rays and helped out during my root lengthening. "Root lengthening" really should be called something else because it's when they cut out gums from around your tooth and sometimes grind down bone. I was nervous going in. However, both Trish and Dr. McKenzie were hilarious and their conversations REALLY set me at ease and took my mind off of the procedure. Immediately following that appointment (same day) I moved from one room to another for the permanent crown to be put in. Dr. Rawalt and Benita (I think) were the ones helping with that. They were both great as well! I can't express how thankful I am to go to one place for fixing the shenanigans related to that one tooth. Even with a sore jaw right now, I am extremely relieved to have gotten the procedures done by a staff that was not only VERY customer service oriented, they showed empathy through distracting and hilarious conversation (anthropology, Star Wars, toddler hyjinx...), and they were competent as well as efficient. The receptionist said that I will need to call Aetna to verify if my insurance PPO or HMO. It was such a frustrating experience. After 15 minutes, I decided to leave. It is not worth my headache. As a new patient, I did not feel welcomed but judged. I was treated and talked to with disrespect and treated like a minority and outsider. Three members of my family--a 15-year-old, a 7-year-old, and myself--were all treated by Dr. Brendan. Every single one of us ended up needing another dentist to fix his work. Not one, not two--every patient he treated in our family required corrective care elsewhere. That's not bad luck, that's a pattern. We gave the office multiple chances to make it right. After repeat visits and no real resolution, we finally had to put our foot down and refuse to see him again. What made things worse was the experience with the senior dentist. His bedside manner with my young daughter was completely unacceptable. He didn't explain anything he was doing and repeatedly put instruments in her mouth without warning or reassurance. Watching your child sit there confused and scared while someone in a position of authority ignores basic communication is something no parent should have to deal with. The outcome speaks for itself. Our 7-year-old had to be referred to a pediatric dentist and ended up needing a tooth pulled. I had to go to an endodontist for a full root canal after what was supposed to be a simple cavity. These aren't minor issues--these are major corrections. But honestly, the worst part is what it did to my kids. My 7-year-old used to be completely fine going to the dentist--now she's scared and anxious. My 15-year-old has developed dental anxiety as well. That didn't happen by accident. If you're looking for a place that prioritizes patient care, communication, and especially how children are treated, this was not our experience at all. We won't be back, and I wouldn't trust them with my family again.
