Steven and Scott completed two jobs for me this year and were absolutely top notch. First they helped me with a panel upgrade as part of the SCE charge ready program. They handled all the necessary paperwork in dealing with Edison for the funds and quoted a fair price for the job. On install day, they were timely on arrival and left the place as clean as they found it. In the most recent job, they installed an Ecoflow smarthome panel for a whole house battery backup system. We walked through the scope of the project and laid out a plan together. The project ended up being a little more complicated than expected due to surprises beyond their control. We lost daylight, but they still persevered with lanterns and headlamps. These guys refused to leave until the job was done right and everything was functioning to my satisfaction. Shotout to their crewmember Nick who was a trooper on both installs and spent much of the time in my cramped crawlspace to run all the lines. In summary, I can't recommend Steven and Scott enough. They're a couple of no-nonsense guys who will provide you their utmost honest opinion. They don't upsell unnecessary things and will even suggest solutions that are more cost effective. Some of them just asked me to send photo.Steve came to my house and he was the only one who used screw driver to open my electric panel and checked carefully. We recently purchased a Juicebox EVSE charger for our plug in hybrid vehicle and after getting quotes and meeting several electricians, we decided to proceed with Steven because of his reasonable pricing, honest feedback on work needed to get done not just with the charger but all around the house, and his good customer service skills. I had an old service panel replaced with 200amp panel plus two NEMA 14-50 outlets for EV chargers (one in the garage and one outside the house). Their work was efficient, precise and clean. This is my first Yelp review and I'm happy to do it for SJC Electric. I called Steve, the owner, and told him that my kitchen outlets, exhaust hood, and stove suddenly went out and I probably needed a fuse replacement. I also had a heavy dining room chandelier which dropped from its ceiling mount and was dangling by its chain. He quoted me $150 and we made an appointment. Steve came with his son, Scott, and another electrician. They took down the dangling chandelier and had to disassemble it because it was too heavy to lift back up. Once they replaced the bracket, they shortened the chain and remounted the chandelier. That job took two ladders and all three men. Next, they worked in the kitchen which I thought would be a simple fuse replacement. However, they had to hunt for a secondary fuse box which was hidden somewhere. They disassembled the overhead exhaust hood and found the hidden box to repair it. Steve charged me what he quoted me over the phone and I would have gladly paid more for the work they put in. Steve and his crew are professionals and I will definitely call on them in the future. read more

Did work inside and out switch plates are not straight and outside outlet has never worked right.Did recessed lighting and they're not even centered. Steve answered from a job he was on down in Manhattan Beach and took a few minutes to hear what my problem was and made some trouble shooting suggestions which cleared up my problem. I had an electrical problem in my master bedroom with half the outlets not working and the ceiling light in the bathroom flickering on and off for the past week. I had another electrician scheduled to come out tomorrow to fix it. This morning, one of the outlets started sparking and I had to scramble to find an immediate service. I found Steven through Yelp and he came out today (Sunday) and found the loose neutral wire in the room in less than 10 minutes, replaced the outlet and fixed another sketchy electrical connection in my garage attic all within an hour and at very reasonable prices. He arrived on the time promised, fixed the emergency I had on a football Sunday, and I was impressed with his friendly demeanor and professionalism. I read his other Yelp reviews and they were all positive and I do not know why he shouldn't deserve anything other than 5 stars other than those reviewers mistakenly clicked on less stars than they intended. I have an electrical issue in my bathroom, hallway, and garage. My lights will not turn on. I had a friend who has a handyman look at everything and he couldn't tell what was wrong. He suggested to hire a professional. Therefore, I looked up yelp and found Clairemont Electric. I called Mr. Clairemont this morning and he told me that he would be there. We exchanged information and he explained to me that he would be there around 4:30. I was a little apprehensive because he was coming from Long Beach and that he might be late due to traffic. Moreover, I didn't want the lack of light in the house to be an issue. When he arrived it was in close to 5 and getting dark. I was concerned that might not have enough light. However, this didn't stop him. He was apologetic for arriving a little late and was very kind. He could sense my concern and he went to work right away. I was very impressed by his professionalism. I showed him the problem and like a professional, he followed all the steps. First, he asked me to show him the issue, then he checked the breakers, then the GFI outlet, then he checked to see what switches were live, then he went into the attic and checked to see if all the wiring was done correctly and or if there were any issues. He didn't find any. At this point, I was confused because my friend said the issue was probably in the attic. Note, this was the moment when I realized I had hired the right guy for the job. A true expert because if it was anybody else who lacked his experience would have probably said its too dark and I will have to come back tomorrow. Instead of panicking Mr. Clairmont went and opened up the light switch covers and light fixtures that he thought would be the problem. He figured it out. Considering that I had wires going in every direction and the home was built in the 1950s. I was surprised he figured it out because I surely couldn't. The wires were burnt due to the close proximity of the light bulb to the wiring he explained. He said that the old school bulbs burn off a lot of heat and a result that severed the connection the electrical connection. He even showed it to me. He quickly fixed it and put everything back into its correct spot. When he switched the light I jumped for joy. I finally had lighting after over a week. We read the review below about the electric problem in the master bedroom. And we had a very similar situation! The lights in our bedroom and bathroom were flickering on and off as well. And then the lights stopped working. We checked all the connections in the house and breaker box. Everything seemed fine. Called Steven and he showed with two guys. He checked the breaker box with special tools and figured out the left side of the box wasn't getting any power. Then figured out that the connection from the pole to the house was corroded because the city didn't come out and put a permanent fixture on it.
