I have lived all over the country and have had many dentists. Dr. Steven Goldy is the most professional, kind, accommodating and gentle (extremely important) Dentist that I have ever come across. Dr. Goldy is a perfectionist and is truly a dental artist! Not only is he a professional he is kind and accommodating, I had to emergency situations and he was willing to take the excruciating pain away and referred me to the correct doctor to get an emergency root canal. Dr. Goldy has a very light touch, I hardly felt a thing, didn't even need anesthesia! The staff are friendly and helpful, plus there's parking available on the corner and around the corner. Dr Goldy and his staff are professional, efficient, and do a excellent job. I came in for an emergency. A fractured tooth. I was seen the next day after I called. I needed a cap which I got in less than 2 weeks. The cap is comfortable and feels like my own tooth. He will definitely be my regular doctor. read more

Dr. Goldy has been my dentist for many years now. He's gentle, thorough and goes over every detail when you see him. Lital, the hygienist I see, is amazing. She gives great advice and lets me know when I need to make adjustments as well as when I'm doing a great job in my at home regimen. Cecilia at the front desk is awesome. Dr. Goldy wanted to know the reasons for my "Harsh Words." So here it is... "I feel the treatment you recommend is always the treatment that will pay you the most. You do very little actual dental work and when you do it's not done well. You destroyed a crown and I had to demand that you fix it, and when you agreed you only agreed on the stipulation that I buy a mouth guard. Maybe I need a mouth guard, but you should have fixed your mistake regardless. Even Dr. Wass was shocked you let me walk out of the office after grinding down to the metal on a new crown. I had a tooth that you thought was close to a cavity and instead of treating the cavity you decided the best treatment was to put a crown on it. That tooth has just been extracted by another dentist who's opinion I trust more than yours. I am paying him out of pocket for an implant because of what I view as a bad treatment option you gave me. I realize your office is in Beverly Hills but not everyone has money to burn the way I'm sure some of your clients do. Your office also treated my wife briefly, she has never had a cavity in her life, but you were trying to warn her about "problem areas to keep an eye on." The dentists she has gone to following you have found no such issues. I feel I wasted thousands of dollars and probably more money in the future to fix issues from your treatment. I showed up for one appointment and it had been mysteriously rescheduled, and your secretary told me I had changed it, which I hadn't. These are some of the reasons for my harsh words." read more

I went to see Dr. Goldy 3 years ago, but I still talk about it as being one of the worst experiences I have ever had, so I thought writing a review would be a good idea. I had just moved to LA from the east coast and I was in need of a dentist. I found Dr. Goldy and made an appointment 4 months in advance. When I got to the office, I was given a stack of paperwork to fill out. One of the pages explained how visits do not include a cleaning - cleanings are apparently not part of a check-up. I assumed I would be getting a cleaning because no one mentioned anything on the phone, but I didn't really care either way. I primarily just wanted a check-up. A dental hygienist came out and called me in. She said to me (very rudely) "Well, we had a cancellation so I GUESS I have time to clean your teeth, but in the future, cleanings must be booked at least 3 months in advance." I had no idea why she was being so rude to me. I didn't say a thing about the no-cleaning policy and I had made my appointment 4 months in advance. But, I just smiled and nodded because she was going to be poking around my mouth in a few minutes. After a few minutes of "cleaning" she says to me (again, VERY rudely) "Ugggg...do you drink coffee everyday? Your teeth are SO stained". Here is where I would love to add a picture because my teeth are so white it's almost annoying. People tell me I have really white teeth all the time. I couldn't say anything to her because her hand was in my mouth, but I was completely turned off by her. I got x-rays done and after waiting for a while the dentist finally came in. He looked at the x-rays for about 20 seconds before telling me I have 5 cavities. He tells me I also need 4 crowns and probably need to have at least 2 root canals (maybe more). In the same breath he tells me that the work will cost at least $6,000 out of pocket. I was in complete shock. I said to him, "are you sure that all needs to be done." And he said, "Well, that's what I'm telling you" and he walks out the door. That's it - no more questions can be asked - he's gone. I left the office, immediately found another dentist and was assured that NONE of that work needed to be done. Here I am, 3 years later with no crowns or root canals, $6,000 richer. AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

Mixed feeling about this dentist. He does good work when you actually get to see him, but he's so busy bouncing around from patient to patient that you're lucky to get 3 minutes with him. In fact, if you come in twice a year for cleanings like I do, he only sees you one of those times! He also is a bit of an alarmist. Wants to do a lot of work when other dentists would probably take a more "wait and see" attitude. Hard to know how much is really necessary. That said, the work I've had done by him was very good. Fixed my chipped tooth and it looks almost as good as new. And he seems to have done a good job filling my cavities. Overall though, I can't recommend. Why not go to a dentist who actually takes the time to talk with you and goes over all your options.. and that will see you more than once a year. read more

I've lived in LA for 20 years, and there have only been two constants... Dr. Goldy as my dentist and getting my haircut at Sol Salon. Ha! Dr. Goldy and his staff are great. Whether it be a cleaning, filling, or crown, he's always been top notch. Bonus points if you're into music because Dr. Goldy is a music junkie as well. WORST DENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER! DENTIST AND OFFICE STAFF ARE HORRIBLE! I am just not willing to go through every negative experience I've had with this office as there are so so many. I will just say look somewhere else! They are not worth your time, money or aggravation. The dentist has a horrible bedside manner and is very disrespectful and Cecelia in the office offers the worst customer service ever. They promise calls back, they change appointments on you. They make appointments, cancel them without calling and so much more. I've exhausted my time and energy on the phone with them on so many occasions. I do not know how they are in business. There are so many horrible reviews about them here on Yelp. I have reported them to both of my dental insurance companies Direct Dental and Safeguard as they should not be promoting this office!!! SAVE YOURSELF YOUR TIME, MONEY AND FRUSTRATION! Find a dentist that cares and that will have your best interest at heart. Not only that, I went over with them on numerous occasions all of the charges that I would incur for work that was done in early to mid 2011. I paid all of my co-pays and it was done. After treatments done in Sept. 2011, I am now receiving bills for several hundred dollars that I will not be paying. I spoke with one of the girls in the office and she said ok, they will take care of it. The idea that they even sent me a bill so many months later is absurd. BEWARE! read more

I have been a patient at Dr. Goldy's office at least three times a year for 21 years so I feel qualified to review this office. Since I have sat down in the dental chair over 60 times I have to say that seeing the reviews here made me wonder if we are talking about the same office. I'm not a dentist, so I dont second-guess the recommendations of professionals in the field. I want my teeth in perfect condition and I want to be pain free. I dont think that exercising and eating healthy food eliminates the need to see a dentist regularly. So when Dr. Goldy says I need some work, I do it. Dr. Goldy has always been there for me and has solved so many dental issues for me over the years. Sometimes I have had the need for an emergency visit and I have never been turned away. Cecelia, the office manager and all of the hygienists are completely professional, dependable, organized, and on top of all this, so friendly. The office is small enough to really give you personal service. Their specialty is cosmetic care as well as keeping up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry. I always feel like I am getting state of the art care. The office is located in the heart of Beverly Hills, an area with perhaps the most demanding clients on earth. To survive in this environment for so long with patients who are used to the very best, you know the office has to give excellent service. A nice plus in this area is you can park for two hours for free right across the street. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Goldy's for a couple of years now. I have had routine cleanings, x-rays, a crown and the Zoom whitening treatment. As someone who cringes at the mention of going to the dentist, I was happy to find someone who is patient and explains the ins and outs of what is going on with my teeth and what (if anything) needs to be done. I never feel rushed and always feel comfortable asking questions and trusting that I will get an honest response. The cleanings themselves are quick and painless! My cleanings are thorough but feel like they go by fast. Free parking is a plus. I have been seeing Dr. Goldy for about 10 years now and have had positive experiences throughout those years with many different procedures from filling cavities, getting crowns, and having bridges and night guards made for me. He is a skilled dentist. That is, he will continue to fine tune any procedure until it is correct and until the patient is happy and comfortable. What I really admire about Dr. Goldy is that he is very concerned about the comfort of his patients. He always warns you before he touches your teeth with a utensil and explains what he is about to do. He would be an excellent dentist for someone who is afraid of dental procedures. He is an expert in many areas of dentistry, for example - he made a set of dentures for me around five years ago and to this very day I still get compliments on how nice my teeth look ! Dentist Dr. Steven Goldy and his staff are the best! I found Dr. Goldy over 3 years ago by reading great reviews about him on the internet. And I'm so glad I did! Dr. Goldy is very sensitive to his patient needs, honest on any work needed, clearly loves his profession and most importantly does excellent work. Two years ago, I had a painful cracked rear molar that possibly needed a root canal, but Dr. Goldy decided to first do a temporary crown, the pain subsided, and he saved the newly crowned tooth and the added expense of a root canal. And just last week, because I like to chew on ice, which Dr. Goldy warned me not to do, I had a painful small crack on my back upper molar. Dr. Goldy did everything he could to save the tooth, including suggesting a root canal, prepping the tooth for a temporary crown including making molds and after all this work done by him, we together decided the deeply cracked tooth needed extraction. Dr. Goldy did all of this extensive work and did not charge me at all! Thank you Dr. Goldy! And the nearby oral surgeon he recommended, performed a perfect extraction with the possibility of an implant if I choose to do so in the future. Dr. Goldy and his staff are all very professional, warm and friendly. Elisabeth handles all the coming and goings, makes sure you are reminded of appointments and Cecilia the office manager can answer any detailed questions one might have. I also like Diana for my regular teeth cleaning since she is very thorough, yet gentle. Dr. Goldy's sunny bright cheerful office is located right in the heart of Beverly Hills, yet in the same block there is free two hour public parking which makes it so easy for visits. Dr. Goldy is a terrible dentist who works insurance companies & your wallet over more than your teeth. His prices are completely discretionary (beware the "I'll give you a discount" speech), and his work is poor. You'll need multiple visits for even the simplest of treatments -- consultation (1), x-rays (2), cleaning (3) fillings (4) - so be prepared to spend a lot of time in the office if you make him your DDS. On a personal level, he is arrogant broaching on rude, and is completely unapologetic for the 1-2 hours you'll spend in his waiting room, or the multiple visits you'll have to make for him to get the job done nearly right. Thankfully his office staff is great (though you can tell that under their smiles and despite their "Rude patients will be charged $10 sign," they, themselves are probably chomping at the bit to find another boss). Do yourself a favor -- find another dentist. read more

The best way to describe Dr. Goldy's dental practice is "CATTLE CALL" as he hastily attends his patients from exam room to room and takes turns with his office staff. I selected Dr. Goldy from the list of dentist's from my insurance's provider list. He does have a fancy web site and I was fooled by it. The experience was horrible as Dr. Goldy is RUDE and IMPATIENT as if it's not bad enough to go to see a dentist let alone a MEAN and INCOMPATIANTE. Dr. Goldy's Crown preparation was flawed and as a result his assistant without my consent and information had to Grind my opposing healthy tooth to force the teeth to fit during crown fitting session. As Dr. Goldy kept jumping from room to room, he did not perform the delicate crown fitting himself and had his office assistant do it. Which she negligently grinded my healthy tooth without even asking me and when I noticed, it was too late and DAMAGE was done. This act of NEGLIGENCE has caused a lot of pain physically and emotionally. I have filed a formal complaint against Dr. Goldy with California Dental Board. If you have not yet visited Dr. Goldy's office yet, BE CAREFULL and if you have already been under his care I'm sure you concur with my comments. read more

I have been going to Dr. Goldy for years. He saved my teeth and gums after I went to a particularly bad dentist. He took the time to help me get back to going to the dentist from every 3 months to every 6 months for a check-up. I love his office staff and their professionalism. Here are the steps: 1) First visit, exam. "You have a cavity." But I don't feel any pain or anything? "You have a cavity. We have to fix it now." Okay, you're the doctor. 2) One week later. Hey, my tooth really hurts. "Yeah, we drilled too deep and killed the nerve. The tooth is dead so you need a root canal and crown." What?! How could that happen? "Meh. It happens a lot." 3) A lot of money and a lot of pain later I have my first and only crown. I took care of my teeth. Always got good marks from previous dentists. I cannot begin to explain how angering this was. I can't prove these people purposely killed my tooth to make extra money but that is what it feels like. Maybe I'm wrong but if there's a chance, and based on these other reviews not a small one, then please stay away. This is in reply to Dr. Goldy's response; Forgive the late reply. I don't often look back at my reviews on Yelp. I don't know what to say in response. The exact and I mean exact comment when I inquired about how that could happen was, "It happens a lot." That didn't come from you. It came from your staff, most of whom are probably no longer there. I'm not a vindictive person Dr. Goldy. And I didn't lose a limb or anything so drastic. But clearly something went wrong. And for the record, I was specifically told the cavity was not deep and that any measures taken were to insure that it didn't get worse. "We drilled too deep and killed the nerve" is most certainly my layman's terminology. I don't mean to put words in your mouth. All I know is this; I went in without issue and a week later having the most extensive dental work I have ever had done. I'll give you my reaction regarding "purposefully killing the tooth, etc." may have been extreme and at the very least unfounded. But we both know there are people in the world who would do exactly that. I'm not accusing you or your staff of that. But at the same time my concerns and anger were not assuaged at any point. I'm not sure what would make this right. But again, I'm not unreasonable. If an adequate explanation exists, I'll be happy to update or remove this review.
