Carson also was friendly, effective, and clear; worked in the increasing August heat, pulled out the well pipe, found the problem (worn wire coating & bare wire in the well casing) and explained what could be done. While we could have stopped there with the wire, he patiently explained that the pump was operational and though it showed small signs of impending failure, he could reinstall it. At my request (no hard sales pitch from Carson) he went on to replace the pump, motor, and controller (which was discovered to have a failing capacitor). All of this in a little over two hours. Both Carson and his colleagues who dropped by were respectful of me and my property. If the need comes up again for me, I will definitely call Phipps Water Solutions. They completely solved my initial problem, along with the discovered issues. All without a single complaint, impatience, or rudeness.

When the job was finished, the system DID NOT WORK. It could not properly pull water. What followed was weeks of frustration. I repeatedly contacted the contractor because the brand-new installation he had just completed was not functioning. I was repeatedly told he would come back. Then I waited. Visits were postponed or canceled. I was told he had other customers without household water and livestock that needed water and that irrigation calls were not his priority. I was sympathetic to that--for far longer than I should have been. But I was also a paying customer who had already paid in full for an installation that had never worked. Instead of returning promptly to inspect his own completed work, I received one explanation after another for why the problem might not be his installation. Maybe the well was dry. Maybe there was a suction-side problem. Maybe it was the foot valve. Maybe it was the drop pipe. And here's what makes that especially frustrating: I repeatedly made it clear that if there WAS another legitimate problem with the well, I was completely willing to pay to repair it. I wasn't looking for free work. I wanted my irrigation system working and wanted him to come back and actually diagnose it. Eventually, I stopped waiting and hired another well professional. What he found was infuriating. The plumbing from the first installation had to be rebuilt. According to the second technician, the way it had been constructed would not allow the system to be properly primed. He rebuilt the plumbing configuration, and the system was finally able to pull water and operate. So after weeks of being given possible explanations for why the system wouldn't work, another professional came in and corrected the installation itself. I paid nearly $2,000 for this job. I paid in full. The completed system did not work. I repeatedly gave the original contractor opportunities to come back and inspect his work. He did not do so before I finally had to hire someone else, and I then incurred additional expense having the plumbing redone. Problems happen. What separates a good contractor from a bad experience is what happens AFTER there's a problem. If you install something and it doesn't work, you go back, inspect your work, troubleshoot it and make it right. You don't leave a customer with a non-functioning system for weeks while repeatedly postponing the return visit. This experience was completely unacceptable. Based on what I personally experienced, I would never hire Boise Valley Pump again, and I absolutely cannot recommend them. If you're considering using this company, I strongly suggest getting another opinion before handing over your money.
