Great store! If any questions about a specific product or just the hobby in general Steven, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable and actually takes the time to talk to you as opposed to just rushing a sale. Along with many miscellaneous hard to find sports related items there is a good variety of non-sport as well. Definitely worth stopping in and taking a look. read more

Pros: a lot of sealed boxes of NHL and MLB, Mcfarline figures, framed photos, magic the gathering, and autograph mini helmets. Owner was friendly to talk to. Cons: little to no sealed boxes of NBA or NFL. No sport card singles in the showcases. place is also dark and a lot of clutter and packing boxes everywhere. (not sure if they are rearranging or moving) or if this is how it always is. would like to revisit again thinking I caught them in a transition phase At the time of my visit. read more

It says on their door and voice message that the store is open at noon. On Saturday. I'm from out of state and am on a schedule, came by to pick up a few things for a signing and they are in fact NOT OPEN and no one answering the phones. Other guy pulls up also expecting store to be open. Horrible way to do business. read more

Sports cards, sports gifts, Chicago sports gifts for Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears, Sox and Bulls can be found at the Countryside store with a great selection of sports collectables. If you are looking for a gift for a sports fan, man cave decoration or kid's birthday gift from a Chicago team, Steven's has a ton of trading cards, autographed photos, framed sports art, McFarlane action figures and something for sports collectors young and old. One of the coolest parts of this store is that he has nearly every college football mini helmet, authentic Bears helmets, hawks helmets and most every NFL football mini helmet in stock and ready. If you are in a nearby town like LaGrange, Berwyn, Brookfield or LaGrange Park - this store is worth the trip. Check his store hours, call ahead because the owner knows his stuff and can tell you over the phone very quickly that he has what you need in stock and at a very good price. He was lower than the box stores and bigger sports stores. He has kid's card leagues with Heroclix and Magic as well as a massive wall of the newest trading card packs - the store is a real treasure right nearby!! Park right out front and no dealing with mall parking or crowds with this small family store. Highly recommend and glad I found this great collectible store. read more

The owner is a jerk. I've been in religiously for the past month. I'd say my first few times visiting this place were ok... But he was upset one day when he misplaced 150 dollar cards. So then anything i inquired about he was rude. For a place that doesn't get much business, you think he would accept all the business he could get. He over charges like crazy. I liked going there to help out the "small community guy" yet I coulda bought a lot of the items online for I'd say 30 percent cheaper. So I recommend not coming to this place. The parking lot sucks. Oh and I went in another time asking for a football.. Didn't have any. And I asked for some pictures of a player... Didn't have any as well. So he proceeded to a snotty remark saying "oh well I guess I'm not helping you today"... So again just really crappy place with awful guest service. read more

First off, the parking is not well marked and is easily confused with the auto repair shop lot right next door. First thing I noticed after walking in was the place that it smelled awful. When I asked to see an item, the owner came over and huffed and puffed that he had to take down a box and overall it seemed that I was bothering him with my interest in his items. Then he and his Mom began to briefly and loudly argue with each other, and he was yelling in my ear in addition to making the situation awkward. Then at checkout he took nearly 10 minutes to decide on and look up the prices for a each and every card in a small stack of VERY common Topps baseball cards. There is no signage anywhere indicating their $10 card charge minimum, but there is newspaper article posted that complains about fees associated with credit card purchases. Overall, a very poor shopping experience. If you are in the area, I highly recommend Hero's Sports Cards in North Riverside over this place. Hero's is a vastly superior place with better prices and a much nicer staff. I have never written a Yelp review before, let alone anything overwhelming negative about a business, but I think people need to know the down & dirty about this place before considering going in. After moving from the suburbs to Chicago I realized how good I had it with Steven. He has the best selection of current boxes I have seen in a card shop. He also has the best mini helmet/sports figurine collection around. I bought roughly ten hobby boxes from him in 2012. I hit 3 Andrew luck autos, an RG3 auto, 2 t-rich autos, an Alfred Morris auto, ect....He doesn't go through his products looking for the case hit like I worry about with other sellers. He doesn't let people feel the packs to find the hits. He will let you pick your sealed box from the case. He has integrity and a love for the hobby. Don't mistake his dry personality for rudeness. The man loves what he does and has a great hobby shop. +Great selection of current Boxes/packs +Great selection of mini-helmets +Great selection of sports figurines +$1 boxes of star commons +He will order product (I just got back from trying a different shop. They only had one football hobby box in the store and would not order/pre-order more. How do shops like that keep their doors open? I went into Stevens store as a first time customer last week to purchase some cards and support the local business. Parking was pretty bad, his parking lot is shared with the business right next to his. I had asked him if he had any Shannon Sharpes and he groaned, not wanting to help me at all, and told me that they are somewhere, not giving me any clear directions to where these cards were located. As a first time customer, I bought more than $100 worth of cards from his store. Lots of individual cards, one box of cards, and one autographed card. After buying all of these cards, I had changed my mind one of those cards, the autographed one. I still had all of my receipts. I called the store to ask If I could return my card or at the very least exchange the card. Steven told me that he does not do refunds. When I asked him why he doesn't do refunds, Steven got mad. He never mentioned to me when I bought all of those cards that he does not do refunds. After telling him that his service is bad he told me "I don't know what you want me to do." His reasoning was he didn't know what condition he would receive the card back in but when I offered to bring in the card he was not interested. I will be taking my business to Heroes in North Riverside where they are more honest with their customers, somewhere I have always been taken care of. If you want to be sold damaged cards, get bad parking, and receive bad customer service then by all means come to Stevens Collectibles. read more

Eh. This place is fine, depending on what you're looking for. Hours are posted but not always adhered to. Glad I don't live far away or I'd be upset that they're not always open when advertised. I end up here maybe once every few months as I'm looking for gifts or just want to see what new memorabilia catches my eye. Seems to be one guy that owns it plus his mom that is in there occasionally. The owner reminds me of Comic Book Guy from the Simpson's, for what that's worth. Nice, sociable, knowledgeable. It is odd that he takes the time to look up each card you're interested in buying even if there's a sizeable lot . Generally I buy cards that cost around a few dollars each - in my experience he goes by the Beckett 'high' value when pricing then will take a little off. I haven't had any success making a deal when I'd like to buy a 'lot' of cards. Generally can find better prices online or at card shows where people are much more eager to make a sale. Steven (I'm assuming is his name) is friendly enough but doesn't seem to care too much about making a sale. Great selection of mini helmets if that's your thing. read more
