I called them for an emergency repair because my unit kept shutting down and blowing warm air. They got back to me the next day and came out in the afternoon, which was not great but ok considering we are at the height of the season for them. The tech spent a few minutes and said there was nothing wrong with it. Fast forward one week and the unit is tripping the breaker over and over. I messaged them to let them know their guy was wrong and ask them to come out to correctly diagnose the issue. They never responded so I called Gallaghers and they came right out. And yes, it did need repair. So I just wasted $99 on an incorrect diagnosis and sat in heat for an extra week. I wouldn't usually leave a bad review but sweltering in 110 degree weather has me grumpy. read more

First of all don't call Cascade Comfort Service if you live in Red Bluff because although I am paying for a service call they do not want to come this far and the service technicians have bad attitudes for having to drive here. The first and second service calls technicians came after 5:00pm and did not want to work. The first technician went on the roof and stated that he doesn't carry any parts in his truck and said he could come back another day but charged for the visit. The second technician shows up after 5:00pm and goes on the roof for 5 minutes than just leaves without fixing anything or saying anything. I call the company and they send technician back. Technician has no clue why he had to come back and had a horrible attitude and stated he could not locate a similar thermostat and the only alternative would be to upgrade my swamp cooler for a new AC system. Yes of course they charged their service fee for coming out to do nothing. The last and final time a service technician came to repair the swamp cooler the technician showed up late, then left to Home Depot to quote unquote (find something to shove into) our swamp cooler to make it work. Then the swamp cooler three days after was burnt up and never worked again thanks to the service technician that was so careless. I was forced to buy a new AC system and of course it was not with Cascade Comfort Service. Cascade Comfort Service was extremely unprofessional and always hustling to get paid their service call fee for a few minutes of their time. The owner of this company should realize the service technicians are putting him or her at a liability risk by damaging equipment such as my swamp cooler. Last update: I wrote this review with the hope that I would find myself increasing it based on how the situation was handled. Often it is not whether there was a problem but how it is resolved that matters. 7/23 I returned a call from Andrew. He told me he was displeased with my yelp posts/updates and because of this was not comfortable sending anyone back out [to complete the repair they started]. I let him know that I have taken care to ensure everything I have posted was factually true or was stated as my opinion/perspective of our interactions, as it should be. I was unhappy that I was being asked to pay for the replacement duct that was damaged by the system drain pan failure, I see this as all part of the equip.. Apparently that is not the case based on our conversation. I was also not happy about having to repair the damage that this faulty/broken unit caused to my ceiling. I explained that I understood having to pay the labor costs as my labor warranty expired 4 months ago. The bottom line here is that now I am left with a unit partially fixed and have been told to find another company to come and step into the middle of Cascade's work and complete it. The tech Cory was able to temp. modify the broken pan so it will not leak on my ceiling when the A/C is used (which is nice) but also had to block off an entire run of ducting. This was all in anticipation of him returning, knowing what work he had done, and completing the repair. Due to Andrew being upset about my honest assessment from my perspective as a customer he has chosen to abandon the job partially finished. Despite this, I made an offer to pay for the labor/time of the two visits which I felt this was fair, Andrew declined my offer saying he wouldn't charge me and just wanted to conclude the interaction. Sadly my review will remain at 1 star Update 7/22/19: The problem was located promptly on the 19th. Found to be a cracked internal drain pan which will take 10 days to arrive. The tech made some temporary adjustments to allow me to run the AC while waiting for the part to arrive. However, I was told today that while they would cover the cost of the drain pan they would not cover the cost of labor, the cost of the duct damaged OR the cost of the damage to my ceiling. While the labor warranty period was up 4 months ago (*clarification: labor warranty is 12 months we are at 16 months so I understand having to pay for the labor on the equipment) all of the damages are due to the install of faulty equipment, which may or may not have been damaged during install. When I spoke with Andrew and asked if they would repair the ceiling damage his response was "it's your house" when I stated that was true but it was damaged by faulty equipment they installed he told me they were already losing money on this and they have done everything they "can and should do". I disagree, there's a difference between what you can do and should do. As of now I cannot wait for the repair to the HVAC so that I can be done dealing with this company and I could not in good conscience recommend them to anyone at this point. Update: 7/19/19 - was contacted today by one of the owners they have dispatched out two techs to look into the problem. He apologized for the scheduling and took personal responsibility for it. That means a lot to me. I'll update as the situation progresses. Cascade installed the HVAC in my newly built house March 2018. They had to come out twice to adjust the air flow within the first month or so. Fairly normal I guess. Fast forward to July 11,2019 my just slightly over a year old is leaking water through my ceiling! Upon further inspection when I climbed into the attic I discovered the entire air duct from the unit to the vent was saturated with water. They sent a person out the next day. He called to tell me the duct was saturated with water, and wasn't sure why. He also said he didn't have any time to figure it out and someone would be calling me that night or Monday at the latest to schedule a repair. When I asked what caused it he said he wasn't sure but maybe someone put a screw through a drain pain during install. No call Friday, No call Monday either. Keep in mind we stopped using the A/C during this time. I called Tuesday and didn't get and answer. Wednesday I finally reach a nice lady in the office who seems shocked nobody has called to schedule a repair and promised someone would call by the end of the day. Now it Thursday 7/18 STILL no call and we had to turn on the A/C to cool down the house. All seemed well at first but now more water and we've had to shut it off again. Totally unacceptable to leave people hanging with no phone call, broken promises and broken brand new equipment. I'm not sure if the install is to blame, or the equipment or both. Either way, horrible service. I wouldn't recommend or ever use them again if I had a choice. Just a last reminder this house is barely a year old. read more

Purchased air conditioner/furnace from Cascade end of May. Because I traveled a lot in June I wasn't aware the new unit wasn't working correctly. Entire new unit froze up first week July with temps at 105. My assumption: either a bad unit or not installed correctly. I used Cascade Comfort for over 10 years, until recently. We had problems with our AC compressor making a VERY loud noise. After the second time it happened, Cascade replaced the compressor and said if it happens again, let us know, and we'll replace the entire unit. Well, it happened again and, as you can guess from my rating, THEY LIED! I was told the unit wasn't making the noise when the tech arrived so there was nothing they could do. I wrote a check to get the guy out of here and then called the company to say that there should not have been a charge since the guy didn't do anything. They refused to refund the $80! (Yeah - I live in San Jose but these were service calls in Anderson CA) I've called Cascade twice to repair my AC units. My experience was excellent both times. The office managers are courteous and competent, the technicians are courteous, they call ahead of time to let you know they are coming, they were on time, the technicians explain what they are doing, why they are doing it, and show you how to maintain your equipment. Best of all, when they encountered my corroded cooling fins, they didn't try to turn that defect into a long-winded hard sell to replace the coils, quite the opposite, they explained the consequences and recommended that I keep the unit as-is because it was performing well. What I've learned: Ants marching through your AC unit seem harmless but they will get trapped in the space between the electrical contacts and get killed when the electrical switch is turned on, leaving a few dead ants to attract more ants until a pile of dead ants blocks electrical contacts and the 'contactor' burns out. Also in your AC unit, the capacitor, a component that gives an electrical boost to start the compressor and/or the fan, plus moderate current flow, will fail. While burned out capacitors are not always easy to spot without a multi-meter, they often fail dramatically by bulging out, sometimes to the point of rupture and even leaking fluids, so if you see something about the size of a soda can (with 2 or more wires attached to one end) that looks like a small bomb went off on the inside, chances are, all you have to do is replace that capacitor and your unit will work again. read more

A few years back we had an HVAC system installed in an older home on the West side. Rick (owner) oversaw the installation and as I then lived in the Bay Area he kept in constant contact. We have had Cascade Comfort service for our four rentals (w/two installs). We've since moved back into the area and bought a home with an AC system and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has had constant problems and the home warranty with fly by night service was worthless. Cascade Comfort has kept the system up and running (it has had it's problems) and have come back to double check on it. This morning Gabe (technician) came to do our semi-annual maintenance. He needed to use the hose spigot that I had a a drip system and timer on. He thoughtfully asked before disconnecting anything and me find dead plants later on. They've given us nothing but exemplary service over 17 years. read more

Avoid this company, especially for A/C cleaning. and especially if you are sensitive to dust and allergens. They will clean your A/C vents with something called a rotobrush. it basically pushes dust around and "vacuums" but has a very limited range. they do not perform negative pressure cleaning. so if there are dust and debris deep inside your A/C duct, this company will not get it out. actually, I honestly believe that they made it worse by agitating whatever was inside the ducts, because my family and I have been coughing more and more since they came by for the "cleaning". Waking up at 3am because of trouble breathing is not fun at all. I have since found a company that will perform the negative pressure cleaning (thank goodness), so that this ordeal can come to an end. For the amount of $$ Cascade Comfort charged, I expected a professional level of experience. Wrong. You get ripped off royally. They never bother to tell you that there is NO NEGATIVE PRESSURE CLEANING. If they had a conscience, they would tell you that, since that is what most people are expecting....actually CLEANING inside the A/C DUCTS. Oh, and they will leave a mess, so get ready to clean up after them. Because, of course, cleaning up after oneself is not included in the $800+ ...and yes, I am awake once again at 3am coughing, coughing, coughing. read more

Very thankful for an honest company! They saved us thousands of dollars! There had been terrible air flow to two bedrooms on the far side of our house. We had another company come out who told us that the entire duct system was inadequate and needed to be redesigned to fix the problem and would run close to $6500! Deciding to have a second opinion, we called Cascade Comfort, they were here only 15 minutes and solved the issue. They simply redirected the air to restore the flow in those rooms, without losing overall flow in the rest of the house. The technician reassured us that the system was perfectly adequate and only a minor adjustment needed to be made. We also had them clean our dryer vent in the same visit. Excellent service! Our air conditioning wasn't working when we returned from a vacation at the coast. I found Cascade Comfort on Yelp and noticed the Best of the North State Logo. I called and they had no availability for today, but scheduled me for service tomorrow. Just a few minutes after hanging up, I received a call back that the owner had just arrived for the day, and could come to my house within the hour. Great Tech (Riley) made a fast after hours service call on a hot day. But, be prepared to PAY DEARLY!!! He quickly diagnosed a bad fan motor on the compressor/condenser and replaced it with a new one from his truck. Total bill was $530 ($130 for after hours service call + $400 for fan motor). Normal retail for that fan motor is about $100. Now, I don't begrudge anyone a good wage - but 400% mark-up on parts is EXCESSIVE by any standard!!!!!! Based on this, I can't ever (in good conscience) recommend Cascade to anyone. A+ on service, F- for price gouging. read more

We are really regretting that we used their services. We called them when our furnace quit the week before Christmas, picking them because they installed our system when our house was built. They said we needed a part (blower motor) which had to be ordered so it would be a week because of the holidays, and when they finally showed up to install it, after many calls from us and us actually tracking the Fed Ex shipping to track the parts arrival, they told us we were 'fortunate' it didn't take longer and cost more (was almost $600!!). The coldest Christmas ever. The office person we spoke with, Kate, treated us like we were dirt on her shoe that couldn't matter less, and she had many more important jobs that had priority. I told her the technician assured us he would be here to install the part as soon as he 'had it in his hands', she told me SHE makes his appointments, NOT him. Maybe we aren't some huge account, just simple homeowners with children that are now sick with colds, along with us, but for being charged such HUGE fees, and literally freezing for a week, we don't exactly feel 'fortunate' as they put it.
