I take good care of my cars, and I was looking for a reputable place for service and repairs. I "thought" I found one. This was my first visit which ended badly. I took my car to Steve's a few days ago, left it all day, and I have no complaints about the actual work that was done had it not been for an important incident which indicates he has dishonest employees. I drove my car directly home from Steve's after he did the a/c repair work, but when backing into my driveway, using my outside mirrors as assist, I noticed some cracks in the passenger side mirror glass. This was not there when I left my car at Steve's. It looks like some hard object struck it, a tool perhaps, and left several crack and a small piece missing. Accidents happen, and it is bad enough that this took place, but the fact that they covered it up, did not mention it when I went to get my car and did not offer to pay for it indicates that these people working there are dishonest. Added insult to injury. Since I discovered the damage after I left their premises, I did not go back to be insulted by denial. All I know is that I did not get my car in the same good condition as I left it, and they did hide what they did by not mentioning it. I feel fourtunate that all they broke is the mirror, which I can replace. They could have caused much more serious demage such as a broken a window. I wonder how they would hide that. I am never going back to this place, and caution is advised to those who do, if you value your car. read more

I've previously taken my and my wife's car to Steve for care and service. I recently purchased a 2013 range rover evoque and took it to Steve for PA state inspection. Steve identified a problem with the rear brakes and quoted a price. He allowed me to take the car to the range rover dealer for confirmation without hesitation. Not that there was any doubt, but it turns out that he was spot on about the needed brake repair. The dealer would have also cost considerably more for the repair. Needless to say I returned to Steve for the repair. I advised range rover that I had a very reputable and honest mechanic who I trusted. They agreed the repair could be done by an outside mechanic. The repairs were done by Steve the same day (after ordering custom parts). I'm extremely pleased with the honesty and service that Steve and his Team consistently provide to me and my family for our car maintenance needs. FYI - Steve also services my wife's 2005 BMW X-5, as well as several other family vehicles who I've referred to him. I have gone to Steve for well over a decade and his service is a standout. I never want to have to go anywhere else. As a woman, I trust him implicitly - he is honest about work and costs, patient and generous with explanations and prompt with service. He unfailingly calls ahead of time to discuss and plan services and cost. He calls promptly when service is done - a courtesy I didn't always get with the dealership where I bought my car. Appointments are easy and convenient to make, either online or on the phone. (Someone always answers the phone - another courtesy that is lacking in many places.) I've referred several friends to him, especially female friends, who are often taken advantage of in his business, and they've had nothing but positive experiences. As with all cars as they get old, occasionally more expensive repairs are needed, which is unpleasant, but a fact of life. I am proud to say that I'm a happy camper and new customer of Steve's Auto, having my car just inspected yesterday. I anticipated quite a hefty bill after inspection given that my car has a lot of mileage and has been knocking and rattling underneath for months now (suspension issue.) Plus the fact that I've only owned this car for a few years, so who knows what lurks from under due to prior ownership? In addition, Steve's Auto offers a generous courtesy by driving you back home (if you're local) or to another spot as he works on your car. In my situation, Steve had a chance to do a test run with me in the car and point out some things. After all was said and done, I found Steve to be very professional, honest, and thorough. I dropped my vehicle off the night before for the yearly inspection and emissions and I got a text message the next day before 11 am letting me know that my car was done and ready for pickup. They even texted me the cost and the latest time that I could pick up and pay as well, which is very convenient. The only negative comment that I have is that when I used the heater the next day to go to work, my entire cabin smelled like cigarette smoke, and I don't smoke, and I am the only driver. I never experienced this before in this car, and I have had it for over a year now, so I was not sure how this smell could have gotten into my car without someone at the shop smoking in or around my vehicle. This is the first experience with the situation with this garage, and I will be certain to ask before using them again to be sure to not smoke near the vehicle. Top notch operation. When you can totally trust someone with your car especially in this day of mechanics not telling to truth so you pay more money for something that does not need attention as in when you get an oil change for cheap advertisement just to get you in to tell you you need new brakes. This is done to most people that don't have knowledge of automobiles like elderly folks that are taken advantage of. I feel so sorry for those people and believe me it's been done to me......Steve is the opposite. He does his best to SAVE you money. He is a real American who cares about helping others. Steve is not only a very knowledgeable mechanic, but also HONEST. My past experiences with auto mechanics have been dubious to say the least. When my former trusted mechanic retired, he highly recommended Steve. With that in mind and a big prayer, I began to use Steve and his staff as my auto repair go to people, I have not been disappointed and am amazed how wonderfully I am treated at Steve's work place. I have been coming here for 4 years now. Nothing but satisfaction and praise. Recently, during a road trip from our Philadelphia suburb to Bar Harbor, Maine, before reaching Boston, three dash board warning lights came on simultaneously. A local auto center said we needed a "complete front-end exhaust system" replacement at a cost of over $2,200. Since the car was drivable, we decided to have the problem looked into when we came back. It turned out to be a very good decision. Upon coming back, Steve worked on the car - fixing the exhaust/converter problem, changing oil, replacing all wiper blades. All at a total cost of $1,144. This was our first visit to the service center. We brought in a 2000 Mustang for state inspection. We knew the serpentine belt needed replacing and had a quote from another place which does not perform state inspections. We went to Steve's because we always fill up gas there and everyone is so nice. Not only did the service center replace the serpentine belt $45 cheaper, but they fit in the car for state inspection the next day which was a Monday. We didn't expect it to be done so quickly as we didn't have an appointment. This was a very pleasant surprise. More pleasant was the price. I had to get my car inspected and was pretty sure it would pass without incident. After reading other reviews about Steve's, I chose his shop as it is fairly close to my house and he would do the work while I waited. It turns out I did need something replaced and, rather than turning into an expensive, all-day affair, I spent only one extra hour waiting for the part and installation, all for a price better than I expected. Steve and his mechanic doing the job kept me updated while I waited and the estimated time was on the money. I'll definitely return to visit Steve's Auto Care in the future. Steve has been my mechanic for years. I would not take my car anywhere else. He's honest and will tell me when I need something repaired immediately or if I can wait to make a certain repair. I don't think I've ever had to return because the repair wasn't done right the first time. My most recent repair was after a breakdown. Even though I had no appointment, my car was towed to Steve's and my major repair was done in 2 days. Steve and all his staff are very courteous and professional. My family and I moved to Pennsylvania recently and we were in need of a mechanic to perform the state inspections needed to obtain new license plates.
