Took my 2008 Sonata in for mechanical issues . Brake s were squeaking and car drove in a jersey manner. They found a problem with parking brake and repaired dislodged brake pad. They examined spark plugs and replaced them. Still had a problem with oxygen sensor and they replaced that also! Besides fixing the mechanical issues Rich kept me informed at each step of the repair, I knew up front the cost of each item. No surprises, only place I would go for auto repair. While I did not to personally, I have a bad taste in my mouth of this business, my girlfriend has a Jeep and she took it there to get fixed, each part they marked up close to 100% if not more, and then added labor which was always over $100 per part. Due to working in the automotive industry myself I know that businesses get a discount with automotive part stores, meaning that the price I saw on Advance auto parts, is actually a bit higher then what they would have paid. I just can't believe they would scam her like this. I'm infuriated that she already got it fixed and that I didn't just do it myself. I would give negative stars if I could. read more

Steve's Family Auto was recommended to me by a friend. They fixed the exhaust system (the CAT converter was stolen in CA) of my daughter's Prius earlier this year. Then the rotating rod of the side mirror of my BMW broke. This is not something they have any experience of fixing before. Most repair shops would probably replace the entire mirror at a much higher price. They took the time and figured out how to put in a new rotating rod, which saved me a lot of money. They are honest and professional, and put their customers interest in the first place. Thank you! read more

My family and I broke down near Perrysburg on our way from NY to chicago. We literally coasted into a tire shop and they recommended Steve's Family Auto. I arranged for a tow with my insurance and called Steve's. They cleared a bay right away, diagnosed the problem in minutes and after getting a part had us back on the road within a couple hours. This was a day after breaking down near Cleveland and having another shop obviously fail to fix the issue. We made it back to Chicago that same night. Steve's Family Auto took care of us even knowing we were from out of town and therefore wouldn't be repeat customers. Therefore I highly recommend them to anyone in the area. My son is a student away at Bowling Green and his check engine light kept coming on in his Toyota and he didn't know where to take it to get it checked out. I looked up reviews and called Steve's from my home in Columbus, and they told me to have him bring it in anytime and they would look at it. These guys were great. I'm in Connecticut but I needed my mom's car looked at, and they accommodated everything. This was also one of the rare instances where I didn't feel rushed to get off the phone when I called. Usually when I call other repair shops, I'm hurried to get my point across and there's a general feeling that they want me off the phone as quickly as possible. Steve's is the opposite and they actually listen to what you're saying, and give great feedback about what's going on with the car. That's huge, in my book. They even looked at the car after I had called admittedly very late in the day and they were very busy by that time. Not to mention the repairs and testing were done properly. Took my sons 2007 Jeep car there after it stalled and would not start. Towed it in and then they started it and drove to park it. Well after telling me on the phone that they could look at it right away the car sat for days. They charged me for an oil change, diagnostic fees, VT solenoid then said they could not figure it out. They had other ideas but were not sure. We could pay an additional $264 but no guarantees. We should be happy that they are not charging us for all the time they spent not figuring it out. We had it towed to the junk yard and my bill to Steve's was $503.34. Still have a bad feeling that I should have taken elsewhere. read more

I was driving cross country when I stopped to get gas and check my oil. I dropped my Oil cap. My dog and I had to get to MO that evening no other shop would help me before 4pm. Affordable work and they did the minimum necessary to get me back on the road. Very quick for what they had to do. Just wish they would keep working on Saturday mornings. I had a strange problem with my Toyota Yaris in that, while it had always been 100% reliable, one morning, out of the blue, it did not want to run. I had it towed into Steve's. They said they got it to start, checked the stored diagnostic codes, but could identify anything that would cause such a problem. Over the next day or so they had staff test it a few times and it continued to start right up and run fine. I expected to be charged for some diagnostic time, but they didn't charge me a thing. I only had to pay for the tow. They had even hooked me up with a cheap rental car nearby. I trust them and I will go back! read more

I had what my husband diagnosed as a wheel-bearing problem on my Ford. I made an appointment to have Steve's confirm that and give me an estimate. Steve gave me an estimate, but said he thought the cost of the part was exorbitant. He told me he didn't want to keep me waiting, and they couldn't get the part that day anyway, so he was going to call around for a better price and call me. I received a call right after I got home, saying he found it for cheaper. We scheduled the repair and it was done promptly and professionally. I recommend this auto shop. read more

After a horrid experience at the Ford dealership, I found Steve's Family Auto on Yelp. Being from out of town you never know which mechanic or auto shop you can trust. After reading the reviews we decided to give them a try and I am so happy we did! They had AMAZING customer service!!! We only had one objective for our pickup, for it to stop leaking oil. Other things could of been fixed, but we didn't want to at this time. Being only a commute vehicle with over 260,000 miles on it, they weren't necessary. They respected our decision and weren't pushy at all about it. If anything was over the estimate, they called before fixing. I would highly recommend Steve's Family Auto! read more
